Adult colouring books are still so popular because it's considered therapy for people like me who have mental illnesses. Colouring books help with people with their anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses as well as just being too stressed out. There are a lot more people who can colour in adult colouring books than there are who are confident in their drawing skills, which is why the adult colouring books have such a huge section. That book store, could also have their artist how to books off to the side like that because they aren't nearly as popular as the rest of their books and have no where else to put them. Most stores will put the Adult colouring books front and centre because that's what most people come in looking for right off the bat and so instead of having to ask the staff where those books are located, the staff and store just put them right where they can be seen right off the bat, which is why they're front and centre. For people like me, Adult colouring books are wonderful. Sure I like to draw when I feel like it, but with my mental illnesses it can be hard to find the motivation to do it. At least with an adult colouring book, I can just pick a page that I like out of the entire book, and start with an underwhelming decision like what colour I want to use, and just jump in to colouring without having to be stressed out about it.
I like colouring books too, so I'm not hating at all! It was A joke/rhetorical question because my book will be in the not-so-popular section below those colouring books.

I love love love colouring as it's a fun activity for people who are just not able to go out and be active !! When I'm feeling exhausted or in pain I watch tv , lay out my colours and pick which book I want to colour in....annnd relax all day. I find it also helps distract me from my pains :) :)
I unintentionally went to Muji when I first moved to Japan. It doesn't say "Muji" anywhere in English so I had no idea. Lol! Their makeup and skincare products are quite good too.
I'm so insanely jealous that Muji opened such a big store where you live! Their .38 pens are my absolute fav but i have to order them online to get them, better than nothing thought!
