very cute couple , loved your reactions tasting the food. this is by far the best video I've seen about turkish street food on youtube - I say this, because of rude reactions in some videos I've come across where others taste food from foreign countries. they should take that couple as an example. My mouth is watering! My fiancee and I are heading to Istanbul and 2 weeks. Would you mind sharing the location of where you had the food? Thank you :)
Guys we love you so much. Thank you for this video. :) But İ have to say. Turks are little bit annoying when strangers called Turkish PİZZA to lahmacun or pide. :) Because pizza is belong to approximately 13-14 th century but pide And lahmacun belong to 500-600 years B.C. So pide And lahmacun are like pizza's father or grandpa..:) İtalians have inspired pide or lahmacun ( from anatholia ) when they create pizza.. So in our opinion, Lahmacun and pide is not Turkish pizza. Regular pizza is like İtalian pide or lahmacun :) Bu the way thank you again to travel our country :)
There really is no right or wrong way to choose kumpir toppings. There are tones of options so everybody picks whatever fits to their tastebuds :) I usually prefer kısır (that thin bulgur salad) , diced pickled cucumber, green olive slices, sausage slices, pickled red cabbage, the boiled peas+carrots+potatoes in mayo salad which we call American salad in mine. Mayo and if they have hot sauce on top :) Edit : You need to squeeze a lil bit of lemon over your lahmacun (turkish pizza) before you roll it btw :)
There is more than one reason why we love and drink ayran. First and foremost, it is a healthy beverage. It doesn't contain any chemicals. No caffeine. Just water, yogurt and some salt. Second, in general, Turkish cuisine uses spices a lot and ayran is a beverage that balances it during the meal. Ayran, which is drunk after eating spices food, relaxes people. It is a healthy and refreshing drink especially on summer days.^^ But I agree that it is a drink that first-timers will find strange lol
The location where you ate kumpir is my high school. :) It was called English High School for Girls in Ottoman Empire, it was founded in 1849, it’s now called “Beyoğlu Anadolu Lisesi”. We also own that place where you buy kumpir. 🤪

They should have brought you the cheese pide for free when you buy the soup. I mean most of the restaurants do that. I hope you enjoyed İstanbul. If you are into meat and baklava (desert) you should visit the East side of the Turkey, if you are into Mediterranean food(olive oily, vegetables, herbs and fruits) you should visit the Aegean(such cities as İzmir, Muğla) and Mediterranean (Antalya, Adana) Region. You can find diverse kinds of fishes in Black Sea Region. And in Anatolia, every city has its own traditional food with great tastes. Enjoy Turkey ❤
Lahmacun is actually considered a healty food. It has low fat, high protein, iron and B12, also it is just about 200 calories. Even tho it makes you full after eating 2 or 3 them. It is one of my favourites.
For Kumpir although there is many different way that can be done traditional mix is butter, cheese, rus salatası (this is really hard to translate but lets say it is a version of Russian olivier salad) and beef sausage. Also it is not couscous in there it is called kısır made from bulgur. From what I see what you got in Gözleme was not sausage but sucuk which is turkish style pepperoni which is why it feels spicy.
