Worked great, thanks! Ordered a puller that was already rounded so didn't have to grind. Appreciate the tip ... fyi, everyone, once the puller is assembled and you're trying to get the washers/bolts into the balancer, they had to go in at an angle, inside toward center first, then they will fall in place outside behind edge.
Work great on my 93 vet I can’t believe how fast and how great it actually work greater than expected great job thank you I almost thought I made a mistake and should’ve took it to the shop but not no more
Awesome! This worked perfectly. Thanks for posting the video. Before trying this method, I tried delicately to pry the harmonic balancer off as suggested in some other videos. It didn't move a bit. I was getting a bad feeling about trying to use the "pry" method on a press fit part. I didn't want to cause any damage.. Making the modifications were simple as explained in the video and didn't take that much time at all. I used 2 inch long screws. I was able to screw the puller bolt in without removing the fitting on the power steering unit so that made it easier and faster to remove the part. This is an elegant and efficient way of removing the harmonic balancer.
I did this washer method and it worked really well i found some bolts in my garage and some washers and used the same hub tool but i didnt cut off the tab but it worked great with the washers
I wouldn't tap those. You might booger up the threads in the hub snout when running the larger bolts in. How about drilling and tapping some smaller holes strategically placed on the pully/balancer?
Guys get frustrated and can’t get it so they give up on it you have knowledge and figured it out👌
On a 1992: I also managed to get it out even with the water pump still in place.

This works, I just did the same technique and I had to cut the tab off of my puller.

Any ideas on how to get the 3 bolts off? I’ve only gotten 2 so far. Last one will not budge.

very well done explaination sir
All right.
-> that that hub is hard to get off that goddamn snout. 94 Z28... i’m up to like replacing three maybe four any that many years..,
I just use Map gas and heat up the center part, and with work gloves wiggle it from side to side and it comes right out.
This is all fine on a coupe, but on a convertible that cross member is thicker, and you may need to raise the engine.
Did you replace front main seal ? Did pulley go back on easily? How many miles were on it when you did the optispark ?
what all did you take off? AC compressor? Alternator? Did you leave all intact?
Thank you
You did not show anything.
ur way works ....!
