This recap is at a great level for me. I have a hard time following some recaps that get really deep into lots of the possible variations that could have come up. I know there's always more to uncover, but with this depth of analysis, I'm able to keep up and learn as I watch. Thanks!
Appreciate all the content you put out. Your commentary is the most digestible compared to other content creators and I’ve learned a lot from you as a casual player.
I remember this happening to Ding last year as well. Ding started very slow last championship and got behind a lot of because of very poor time management. I think he'll bounce back and make this competitive at least because he played phenomenally in the final games, but definitely an aspect of his game he has to clean up a little.
What a frustrating game! The bishop was in danger for so long, then he had a chance to save it... but he left it there. And you CAN NOT take 30 minutes for ONE MOVE!! Take tomorrow off, then come back swingin'! Let's go!! Eye of the tiger, man! Eye of the tiger!
Im german and it sounds amazing how you spell Zwischenzug. I needed a few weeks until i recognice it is a german word hahaha xD. You make great content it helps me alot improving my chess skills!
Love your videos, ❤ I watched all your 27 videos of new rating climb Now watching the old rating climb 😅😊 Btw do you support anyone in the finals ??? 🤔
Hey these videos are awsome. I wanted to ask if you can make a video about sacraficing pices properly. Every now and thrn i sacrafice my bishop to disposition the queen. Is that actually a good move or does it depend?
Hey Nelson sir, Great content helped me alot in breaking 1500 elo and I would like to make some video suggestions Analysing Grandmaster level Games like of Bobby Ficher , Mikhial Tal , Boris Spasky . U are really good at explaining the dynamics of the game .
I appreciate you covering these games! I’m interested but probably wouldn’t seek out the updates if they weren’t coming from your channel. That said, I prefer your regular programming! Great educational content all around
I hate running out of time! More then that i hate playing a great game and winning because my opponent ran out of time too! Makes what woulda been a great win into an empty win!
I think zugzwang means , the move which side is going to play will lose or it will cause trouble for them , but I guess nelson said wrong meaning in this video.
Very frustrating. If Ding retreats his bishop to F5 on move 18 (instead of the rooklift), he's actually better. What he's doing on the clock after that is anyone's guess. A really bad way to lose and now has to dwell on that on the rest day. Not good for his fragile confidence.
Ding really botched this one. All unforced errors. Wasted half an hour on the queen trade to get Gukesh's pawns doubled, trapped his own bishop right after, finally freed it, then left it there anyway and flagged. So bad, this will destroy him psychologically.
Why didn't a super GM like Ding just move the bishop back to f5 after white's pawn was on g5? He had at least three chances to do that. Why does a super GM like Ding burn so much time in the opening to try to get a tiny advantage that then results in is so little time in the middlegame? This game sadly looks like a beginner game instead of super GM world championship level. If Gukesh just wins every game after this because of this kind of bad play by Ding, then people will say bad words about Ding. Why not just play tight games so that then people's criticisms would not have any legitimacy?
You keep mispronouncing Zwischenzug, which is cute (but wrong). The word is German and (traditionally) borrowed foreign words are pronounced the way the native speakers would (or close to it). In German the letter "Z" at the start of a word is pronounced as "ts", so the way properly say that would be [ˈtsvɪʃənˌtsuːk]. Same goes for Zugzwang, BTW ;-)
Sad to watch such an outdated event where two Muppets play for a pretend title. This is such a waste of time and money. In the future, every two years, the active player with the highest classical rating should be declared the world chess champion. We all know who that is.
This is the best chess channel. Expecially for beginner and intermediate players.
Thanks for the video

I'm really glad you're covering these. I tried watching live, but I got way too bored. I really enjoy your recaps.
Yes, those explaining is like teaching to heart❤ 😂
yup lack the patience myself to follow through live, these recaps are nice
I left the stream after their game ended.
Hard to watch a game where it could take 30+ mins for a single move
I dont think he blounder he wants to play with 2 pawns against a peace 😂
Getting flagged in a chess game is the worst feeling ever, let alone in a world championship match.
He mostly lost on time though, the position was lost anyway
Yes, it is heart wrenching to see
whenever i flag in a daily game, it feels so unfair, yet theres nothing i can do to undo it, especially if its a tournament game
He waited sooo long in some positions that it’s hard to imagine the flagging wasn’t intentional
Not your fault, but I hate how TH-cam mobile will show you a preview of a comment before the video, which ends up spoiling the video 😂
This is the most exciting WCC that I remember seeing. Usually it's very equal, drawish, normal positions. These games have been pretty wild.
3 games and only one draw. Yes, this is much more exciting to watch especially for me as a beginner
You are really good at the recaps! I actually paused to think about moves as well, so good!
The matches sure are thrilling this time! 🔥
Glaze comment my guy
You are so quick with posting these! WOW...
Thank you Nelson great breakdown
hey Nelson, is Ding taking lessons from you ?? seems he ran out of time ..

Great recap which totally covers the excitement of the game.
Big fan of your explanation
Thanks, coach!
Thank you so much for actually explaining these high level positions. Sometimes so hard to follow the commentary live for us low elo players

Thank you for giving us this wonderful commentary. I love your energy and valuable inputs. I am learning a lot.
Thanks for the quick updates hahah i looked for your video immediately after the match finished 🤣
I'm glad that Gukesh won this one, as a spectator, 1.5 - 1.5 sounds a lot better than 0.5 - 2.5.
Agree 👍
Let's go Gukesh. GO INDIA🇮🇳
USSR and sfrj better lil bro😊@@JairMarcano-j4t
Agreed. I don't have an iron in this fire but if it's competitive, it will make it interesting.
Pointless watching the video now…. Nice one Batman
thanks for only covering the game and not adding unnecessary jokes
I expected Ding would lose on time again like he did 2 years ago, but yeah....
What a frustrating game!
The bishop was in danger for so long, then he had a chance to save it... but he left it there.
And you CAN NOT take 30 minutes for ONE MOVE!!
Take tomorrow off, then come back swingin'! Let's go!!

Isn't that crazy I couldn't stare at a chess board for 30 minutes without moving something. I applaud these guys and their patiences.
Ding should've pushed the pawns on "a" .. "b" .. & "c" files which could've compensated him for the lost piece ...
Ding: Saving Private Bishop
Gukesh: die another day? No - die Now - you don't have time😅

Great commentary Nelson!
Agadmator be like: and after 8 moves we have a completely different game.
Nelson is the best streamer that explains the game to intermediate players, not masters
The game is not as simple as it seems, Good Analysis. Thanks 🙏

Leaving a lone piece deep in enemy territory rarely turns out good in my games. I'm not surprised to see that it was the Achille's heel in this game.
Even the best can blunder! Crazy moment!
What a killer comeback I didn t exoect that from Gukesh
Hey these videos are awsome. I wanted to ask if you can make a video about sacraficing pices properly. Every now and thrn i sacrafice my bishop to disposition the queen. Is that actually a good move or does it depend?
Checkmate is the only move in chess that is ALWAYS a good move. Every other move imaginable, it depends.

Great explanation! I would like to understand here at
22:05 why does Gukesh takes Knight with king? Why not take it with bishop?
Taking with knight centralises the king...
Another Zwischenzug 🎉🎉🎉

I have never expected India vs China for World Chess Chapioniship.

Crazy game

zwischenzug is different than zugzwang

A little feedback. I like your channel but the board looks blurry even on higher resolutions. That's all.

It is not the world championship without Magnus.
I think the game could have been a draw with knight g4 after rook c1 instead of king e7
I was watching GothamChess and he mention that h6 move was something that Kramnik had done a couple of times. Is Kramnik part of Team Gukesh?
No he played a game against arjun ...where arjun played inacurate bt it ended in draw ...so he knew the line
8:18 doesn't gukesh lose control of the f5 square and allowing ding to put his bishop there?
This is a FIDE Title it is not a World Championship....the last true World Champion was Magnus
Why is Ding thinking for so long? 2 hours is not enough?
I feel like he lacks confidence, so he has to double check everything. This won't help. Missing Ne2 in the calculation will eat away at him even more.
But why did Ding play Bc2 in the first place???
why cant i use subtitles😢
Blundered his queen?
Why not 28 ... Kg4?
Why didn't a super GM like Ding just move the bishop back to f5 after white's pawn was on g5? He had at least three chances to do that. Every headline is a spoiler, 3 time in a row. I will have to ask you tube to not recommend this channel until this match is finished.
I'd like to know how you figured out who won from that title 🤔
