In GTA III you can earn a lot of money but most if the money gets spent in buying weapons and paying for specific missions like Bomb Da Base Act I and The Exchange. Other games were good. Lots of opportunities to use money.

Dunno if it can count as a collectible but in LCS you have on Stauton Island the optional job of collecting a list of vehicles and bring them to a garage for some cash, but if you complete the all list a reward will be available to your hideout but only on this island a V8 Geist car and a PCJ-600 bike will be there to wait you and they're constantly respawning, can be useful if we need a vehicle without using the one in our garage

Just super tiring watching youtube video of the locations and wasting time on stupid collectibles. Far Cry has made collectibles right. You can either buy maps to reveal locations and Yalung mask collections make humming sound when near, thats how collectibles should be like.
