  • Here's my jam of the week with a new comer: the Tempest. A pretty amazing drum machine, very good sound and performance capabilities.
    I hope you'll enjoy it, and if you do please share and subscribe!

    I come back to this video every few months and just am blown away by how well you use the octatrack. Would love to see a breakdown of your process with this track or any really.

      Thanks mate I really appreciate it! It's gonna be tough for me to find the files back sadly so it's not really possible. Something I enjoyed to do on this one was to control the Minitaur directly with the OT's knobs to break its sounds, and then reset it with FUNCT + PTN, and combined with effects like reverb, filter, delay control, and lofi was giving cool results.

    Is the bass coming from the Minitaur? I'm asking because it seems like you're tweaking the cutoff on the bassline, but you don't touch the Minitaur so are you controlling it's parameters from the Octatrack? Overall, a really dope jam. Would be interested to hear where the samples are coming from. Cheers.

    • @Synthometer
      @Synthometer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! This is correct, I mapped some Midi CC from the OT so that they controls the Minitaur's Cutoff.

  • @micedevice2389
    @micedevice2389 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, i’ve seen your performances for a couple of years, and they are excellent!
    I have one question; the hihat on pad 1 in the Tempest is a sample from it or you sound design it with the analog tools or is it triggering a sample in the OT?
    People complain about the Tempest missing the 909 open hi hat and this sounds very similar.

    • @Synthometer
      @Synthometer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, the OT triggers everything on its own, and I rarely build sounds from scratch on the Tempest, so this sound is most likely a sample from it.
      To answer those complains, the Tempest offers so many modulations for each sound/pad it's impossible not to get what you want.

    • @micedevice2389
      @micedevice2389 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean that the OT is sequencing the Tempest too, and the Tempest is not running it’s internal sequencer?

    • @Synthometer
      @Synthometer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@micedevice2389 In this performance I don't think the OT is sequencing the Tempest at all, so it runs its own sequencer. However this is something I happen to do quite often now.

    Is the Tempest sending MIDI to the Minitaur?

    • @Synthometer

      No, it's sequenced by the octatrack.
