This is useful for me because in my family I'm the "IT Guy". So, when my grandparents, parents, in-laws, friends, etc. need help with their Wi-Fi problems, I can easily access their router even though we are cities and states apart in a lot of cases.

Extremely helpful in explaining how everything works and why it should be done. The past few days I've been trying to access my router from my smartphone and don't know what I'm doing. Other resources on the internet don't explain why you need a DDNS. I found out, thanks to this video, I don't need one because of my service provider and router.

This is a great video. I like how simplistic everything was explained. I'm not a newbie with computers at all, but the majority of my family and friends are, and this would easily help them understand networking. Even though his English is very accented by his own language, I work with several people from India so I've gotten used to the accent. Believe me, its much easier to understand this than someone who's native language is English, but they speak it so fast that you can't even catch what they're saying and need it repeated. Good job!

This can be done only if your ISP allow to do that. The generally do not allow it for a home user. They allow only if you use a business class internet subscription. It is like port forwarding.

Are you referring to the static IP address for your router? Can't you connect router to DNS static IP host service? I ask because I have a DDNS host and believe i have it configured, but still cannot get a connection from outside my home network into my home network. I have allowed remote administration too. Very confusing!

Hi. Thanks for your effort in making this video. I'm learning about networking so my understanding is weak, but you said you router is assigned a public IP.. I would have thought the home based router would be assigned a private IP from the ISP, so, a home PC privately connected to the home router which forwards it on privately to the ISP which then connects to the internet using the ISP's public IP. If every router had it's own public IP there would be no IP addresses already..

It is not a good idea to expose your routers admin page to the internet. You should look into hosting a small vpn server, for example on a raspberry pi. That would be much less stupid.

It's really not up to your ISP unless you are using your ISP's modem and then there are still possibilities! Find your equipments name, model number and revision number if there is a revision then look online for the manual for yours and read thru the setup/tech info and it should tell you how or at least an ideal of how too! Good luck

Hi, we did as it is mentioned in this video. Dynamic DNS Connection shows as Status:
"Succeeded!"But unable to access this from outside network. Our is a bit old router.
We have two fields in Remote Management tabbed region viz. Web management Port (set to 8080) and Remote management IP address (not sure what is to be set here). So, i tried my WAN ip address and my public IP. Still no luck. Not sure, what is wrong here. Appreciate your help on it..

I can not access my Tenda router remotely even though Remote Management is enabled.
Is it possible that my broadband provider (GTPL) had locked all the port and therefore I can not access the router from other network !!!!?

Hi. Very good video. Very informative.
I do have a question: A Tp Link router can store the browser history? I ask because I have a very strict boss.
    Thank you
