@@AAKtheThird I'll tell you this as a T2 Baek main: I don't mind. I wouldn't be unhappy to see old man pimp roll through providing it's a good iteration of the character, but at the same time I enjoy Hwoarang evolving. Maybe Hwoarang decided to take his training just that much more seriously.
Hworang is a GOAT! His T4 style with the Gi is my favorite, and I love how he has a little bit of that with Baek's moveset. He finally became the Master 🥋

@@hilihkintil6789 totally agree, they overdose on Law's physique, I'm a Law main actually, they should've stuck to TK5 law Body Design and put a little detail to it.
Hwoarang is cool because everything about his design matched with his personality. It’s not just his biker theme outfit that displays his delinquent side, it’s also his taekwondo dobok. He has an interesting personality, Hwoarang lives for the thrill and doesn’t let any rules stop him from doing what he thinks is fun. Despite what his rough personality would suggest, Hwoarang has an honorable side. He respects his master Baek and prefers to have a fair fight with his opponents. He rejects any form of supernatural power so he can rely on his own fighting skills. While Hwoarang is a jerk most of the time, he’s actually a fairly decent guy when you get to know him. His rivalry with Jin is interesting due to how it developed throughout the series. It evolved from a bitter rivalry to a friendly one. Jin and Hwoarang are now basically just the friends who prefer to beat each other up rather than hug. No matter how much they fight, they have each other’s back. It’s a typical example of vitriolic best buds. Hwoarang was even willing to sacrifice his eye for Jin in T7 even if it was just an temporary injury and he didn't lost the eye for real, it shows how Hwoarang was more moral than Jin at that particular point. Lastly but not least, I consider Hwoarang to be one of Tekken's strongest designs. I personally think that he’s the best representation of TKD in a fighting game. Hwoarang is awesome and I can’t imagine the franchise without him. 🤷🏻♂️☯️👌✌️
It take many year to pronounce his name cuz the sound of hwoarang which person begin said like hurrah or woarang . It just like Latino/Mexico language cuz like example the whole world said the word jam just like it was but for people of Latino/Mexico pronounce jam as yam cuz for them the letter j is became y unless other methods can difference the sound of it.
I thought this time there wouldn’t be a hworang since they didn’t show him in the teaser but im glad to see my man, finally got a reason to buy tekken 8
If you watched the anime, you know that's true though. No matter how many times Hwoarang said by mouth he hated Jin's guts, he was happy as long as they still get to fight or spar against each other for old times sake.
I may now be an Asuka main, but Hwoarang was my first one. Liked his character and look (so glad they did not kept his T7 look 😅) from the very beginning. In such a long running series, you never forget your first main.
@@philgamer9499 I might be wrong but I think he meant the GOAT in just Akira bike sliding, you know how he slid his bike? That's called the Akira slide.
The student finally becomes the *Master* , the prodigy of Taekwondo finally makes his electrifying debut on the TK8 roster and with remarkable swagger. The maturity of how they greeted each other filled my heart with so much joy: *Jin* acknowledging *Hwoarang* for the first time and respectfully challenging *Jin* to a fight so he can prove his strength to him, 0:57. That for me was one of the biggest highlights of the video and his marvelously detailed character design, he kind of reminds me of a webtoon *Manwha* protagonist. Congratulations to the studio who endured sleepless nights to make this impeccable video. Can't wait for the release of the game. 👏, 🙏.
Namco has a big problem. When redesigning characters, they do not always retain the recognizability of the character. T8 Hwaorang is only recognizable by his moveset. The character could have been named completely differently, given a different biography with a new moveset and no one would have thought it was Hwoarang. In the Streat Fighter the authors keep the key features of the classic character's design and emphasize them, while the Namco destroys its legacy.

i've been a Hwoarang main since Tekken Tag Tournament back in 2000, i still play Hwoarang to this day in 6/1/2023
My main since Tekken 3. Glad to see how he's looking in Tekken 8 and excited to play it.
Bruh, I was a 10-year-old kid when Hwoarang debuted in Tekken 3, and now I'm in my mid-30s and crusty while he's still a young adult at peak strength 😭
Don't beat yourself up too much. Its natural that we age in the real world whilst familiar characters in various series age more gracefully (granted they haven't aged the T3 characters too much and its more a case of a style change).
go jim myman it is never 2late
I feel you man....
10 years in real life Is like 2 or 3 years in Tekken. 😂
And he hasn't aged a bit lol
Love how each and every returning character is coming back stronger, more advanced, and matured. 8th title in the series and still growing phenomenally. All game genres can learn from this
Like taking zen cancel from jin and taking off backlash launcher for rang most of what you said is true but honestly this tekken is a little dumbed down gameplay wise it for more people to get into it
@@GrogedUp I can tell you’re a kid. Honestly, I don’t agree and don’t think even you will be good at the game
@@Kamedouken I think some things were inspired by Tekken that Street Fighter 6 were taking notes of, and vice versa like Virtua Fighter, Guilty Gear, Dead Or Alive, ect. But yeah, it'd be great if fighting games could add more inspired things from other fighting games, to see if it works or not for that genre. I agree.
Yes we just ignore the dmg numbers and overpowered characters in tekken
@@shadownight9956 alls I see is a crybaby
I can die happy now knowing that Hwoarang is part of Tekken 8! I can't wait to play this game!
Looking so forward to this!💯🔥🔥
I grew up bunking school and playing Tekken 3 on PS1 at game parlours with Hwoarang as my first and main. Now I am over 30 years of age and saw the guy in Tekken 8 with awesome moves.
Nostalgia..............pure emotion.
Not only his moves become faster and heavier and he also have moves and stances from Baek. Even his character is changed even his demeanor..his no longer noisy and cocky at the same time. He looks calm and serious. Even his kicks are straight forward and very precised.
This means Baek will never be back.
@@AAKtheThird I'll tell you this as a T2 Baek main: I don't mind. I wouldn't be unhappy to see old man pimp roll through providing it's a good iteration of the character, but at the same time I enjoy Hwoarang evolving. Their move lists were always the biggest evidence of the difference between master and student, if he indeed does take more from Baek in this iteration and replaces him, I'm all for it. Maybe Hwoarang decided to take his training just that much more seriously.
1:26 i love this part
This game is legendary. I am buying a PS 5 because of Tekken 8.
10/10 stars!!
Hworang is a GOAT! His T4 style with the Gi is my favorite, and I love how he has a little bit of that with Baek's moveset. He finally became the Master 🥋
When I saw Baek's 3+4, I almost teared up cuz I love Baek, I'm playing him just for his inspiration.
BRO HE LITERALLY LOST HIS HELLSWEEP WHAT ARE YOU YAPPING ABOUT?
@@darkwolf2343 1:23 is this not his hellsweep? Im lost
They should added baeks Ra ha move to Hwoarang if they not gonna bring back baek doo san 😅
His shouts are even resemble to Baek. I was main Baek back then and i am glad Hworang its starting to have more and more influence of his master
The best TEKKEN 8 trailer so far 🥋 🔥
1:43 This rage art kick reminds me the character in king of fighter, Kim Kaphwan
Omg his moves look so much better, he's like a fusion of Hwoarang + Baek
Definitely best looking character so far in Tekken 8!
Not kazuya?!?!?
@@KyeCreates he doesn't looks like he's ready to fight.
I know finally a character with proper clothes
nah looks worse then jin and kazuya
actually the worst looking one so far
I gotta say that his outfit looks so grounded than in T7, which is better imo. Simple, stylish, and really does represent his taekwondo expertise.
I'm so happy that he doesn't look dumb like in T7 lol
GROUNDED? You mean, eyepatch, floating jacket and korean punk hair?
this, tekken 7 design looked pretty stupid lets be real
@@MrRenatopepin "grounded than in"
@@MrRenatopepin I'm mentioning T8's design that is grounded, not T7. Please read it again.
I’ve been waiting for this for too long🎉
Hworang is the only one I've been waiting for. Lets go!
Hwoarang has come a long long way since Tekken 3! Can’t get over his style!😅😊
Same length as Lei's hair on Tekken 7.
Taekwondo
His design seems to be the most tame compared to other characters, reminds me of Tekken 4, I like it
Definitely what the game needs. Characters that look like they are ready to start throwing hands Instead of wearing whatever they found on their closed.
His animations are the same old broken neck animations 🙃
@@MrSoso1050 L take. The game doesn't need boring generic arse gis, go play UFC or something if you want that stuff
@@brother44444 I'd say variety is key
Besides they will all have crazy wack outfits later on, so I don't mind some being tame and others being wild with their closets
@@brother44444 yeah right. A fighting game is all about stupid hair cuts and flashy over the top costumes. I bet Paul was peak character design for you.
Hwoarang is the reason why I play Tekken since Tekken 3. LET'S GOOO!!!
I started my fighting games journey with tekken 6. I remember seeing his back story and when he was defeated by devil jin in tekken 5, and its so good to look at him defeat Jin
These little interactions between the fighters have been great😮💨🤝🏾 hopefully we get more.
Most of the interactions so far are a huge throwback to the Tekken anime story events. Jin and Lars' was based on the game story.
@@ThatchNetherfold it's not even from the anime but from the previous games.
Interactions are better but I feel like a few of them will get boring overtime especially when there’s none between characters that never interacted in the past
Hwoarang is now more mature and serious than previous tekken games.
Like a real tkd master! Look the belt!
aka more boring
@@annoyingsmuganimeavatar7229 yeah I bet you hate mature people
I freaking love this guy so much
Hwoarang main here since Tekken 5
We’ve seen the feet and legs in all their magnificent glory.
Now show us the hands. Show us, Steven.
As a Baek main, I love this so much. It isn’t him but it’s so great to see him mature like how his master did
Nah. F that. Bring back baek.
That intro with jin was fire
I'm very much loving it and love to see more like it!!
No Cap🔥
Tekken 5 vibes🤯
Akira Slide!!
His intro with lars is better
I feel
Steve's face + Jin's body = T8 Hworang...
Ntg fresh😂😂😂....
i hope Tekken will add some "Pencak Silat" martial artist 😅
indonesian
yesss it's gonna be awesome
Mad Dog
Loving the whole look of Hwoarang in this game, really suits him! Did they explain about his eye getting better?
There's so much to unpack in this one:
The appearance, the grunts, the fact that they ditched his pro bodybuilder physique, the old T5 Jin intro animation, the moves... Hwoarang is looking crazy!
Agreed. I hope they do Law the same way especially the steroids bodybuilder physique which looks disgusting
@@hilihkintil6789 totally agree, they overdose on Law's physique, I'm a Law main actually, they should've stuck to TK5 law Body Design and put a little detail to it.
Hated the overly clunky bodybuilder bod lol
Stfu all this typing. Long ass fan boy comment. All that damn typing, now see u need to ass whoop for this
hey alright dev
Hwoarang is a goat 🐐
Love this explanation 👑
But, you know, that's pretty difficulty to make a better representation of any martial artist than the Tekken's one
One of the coolest tekken characters of all time for sure
Yes! I'm ready for them kicks!
Finally the announcer managed to nail the pronunciation of Hwoarang perfectly
It take many year to pronounce his name cuz the sound of hwoarang which person begin said like hurrah or woarang . It just like Latino/Mexico language cuz like example the whole world said the word jam just like it was but for people of Latino/Mexico pronounce jam as yam cuz for them the letter j is became y unless other methods can difference the sound of it.
The Korean pronunciation is "hwa-rang" (the r of course sounding like an L as well)
But that was close enough tbh
I heard only rrrrrrrrr
@@ninjajin8788 it because the end word sound that people usually heard people name at the end part not the beginning part of name.
she got it wrong tho, it's whorerang
Time to master Hwoarang all over again. I like this version of him, combining his and Baek's moves
I thought this time there wouldn’t be a hworang since they didn’t show him in the teaser but im glad to see my man, finally got a reason to buy tekken 8
Hwoarang still one of the most badass characters of Tekken since I started with Tekken 3 in 2001....
He definitely surpassed his master at this point. He's just mind blowing

If you watched the anime, you know that's true though. No matter how many times Hwoarang said by mouth he hated Jin's guts, he was happy as long as they still get to fight or spar against each other for old times sake.
He seems pretty good at pretending he’s past the point of caring at this stage though

def getting tekken 8 now!
I can remember playing him on the ps2, and now the quality is so good 😭😭
The student finally becomes the *Master* , the prodigy of Taekwondo finally makes his electrifying debut on the TK8 roster and with remarkable swagger. 👏, 🙏.
Your comment is just pure perfection! I share your sentiment but I couldn't have expressed it any better!
