Brazilian here, love the trailer. His winning line at 2:06 "Ninguém me segura" doesn't quite mean "No one can lay a hand on me", but rather something more like "No one can restrain/tame me", which in my opinion sounds more badass.

Just a fun fact:
The one-string instrument Eddy is playing is called "Berimbau"... I have made a few of them when I used to practice capoeira and no! Not all brazilians practice capoeira lol It's just a coincidence that I did lol...
So, the string is removed from bike tires... you cut it open and clean it. You use a rounded rock to change the tone of it ... the rounded shape thing close to his belly is a gourd. It has a hole that you can cover using your belly to change the sound of it as well.
You can also see he has in the same hand of the stick he uses to hit the string something that sound like a "maraca" it's called "caxixi". Its like a bag made out of braided straw with some sort of seed inside.

Walked into a gamestop in August 2000. TT was being demoed. Eddys stage was the first i got to play in. His tune along with Hworangs NEVER left me. So dope they used it here. Hype/nostalgia. A beautiful thing 🔥🔥❤.
This theme sounds like something that would have been in the mortal kombat movies back in the day, I love it.
I hate dealing with Eddy as much as the next guy but man Tekken would not be Tekken without Eddy Gordo.

@@30ajgoI mean at this point they can put anybody in this game and it's almost the same as dealing with other characters. Just a lot of plus moves and 50/50 guesses after a character goes into a stance, 50% combos or more on certain stages... I hated fighting Marduk in previous games, but I don't even care anymore. Throw 'em all in this game.

you know, TTT was my first tekken game EVER, as a kid i played at my friends PS2 and the character i remember being most iconic for me was eddy.. AND NOW THIS HAPPENED

They are absolutely nothing alike lmao. They don’t even fight the same.
As an old capoeirista, I appreciate what they did here. So many great touches and little nods to the culture. The berimbau playing the São Bento Grande de Bimba, the bateria, the roda... Not to speak of all the ways they have tweaked the moves to be more authentic. Yeah he's of course doing some things over the top, but I have seen great mestres seemingly defy gravity itself right in front of my eyes. I think that this version of Eddy really catches this spirit.

The move tweaks are great. I only played Capoeira for three years a long time ago but I still recognized the throw they're using now as a real move that we learnt. Very cool.

Hearing Eddy's theme from Tag Tournament 1 made me hyped. Despite other dramas that Bandai Namco is dealing, hearing his theme is refreshing. Bandai Namco really does care to old Tekken players.

I remember playing Tekken 3 back when I was seven with my cousin and when we first saw Eddy and thought - why does he dance when he fights? And that was when we found out about capoeira.
His moves are as sharp as ever, I love seeing him playing the instrument that reflects his Brazilian heritage and love hearing him speak Brazilian Portuguese. Gosto muito do Eddy Gordo!

I learned about Capoeira because of Eddy Gordo from Tekken 3 back when I was a kid. It's just not a Tekken game without him.
Man it's always a blast seeing eddy specially as a brazzilian and you guys did an amazing job with him, granted some of the delivery lines feels a bit monotone and not with the energy you would expect of some of those lines, mostly noticed on the "ninguem me segura" but overall he looks, sounds and seems to play amazing

You know, despite the new install mechanic and the god-forbidden hair change, they actually represented Capoeira even better in T8 than any other fighting game I've seen. The Roda, the instruments, the new Negativa stance, even this particular takedown at 1:26 is pretty spot on. The movements look cleaner, more fluid. I think it's an overall glow-up for Eddy
According to the talk on Bandai Namco livestream, I suspect they do take influence from Batuque manga as a certain mangaka was mentioned to have deep connection with capoeira.

Haven't played any of these since tekken 3 and boy oh boy has this game evolved! In the arcades "EVERYONE" picked this guy. All these years later the game looks amazing and from the comments it has a strong community to boot. I wonder how king looks nowadays?
Less plus on block but his chain throws are now in the move list and his kit is much more rounded. I don't like the changes to him in T8 but if you're coming back from Tekken 3 and decide to try it out then your experience will probably be different.

I bought the tekken tag tournament cabinet that was set up in the arcade downtown for 10 years. In the service menu it has stats and records logged during that whole time. On this machine, Eddy was the most picked character by far, and also had the highest loss rate.
Same! I pretty much stopped playing Tekken after 3. Still love it but for some reason I stopped. I probably should buy this.
