    Bad ass. Looks so classy. Great idea. Hopefully this technology becomes more available and less expensive. I really want to do this.

    Really cool, nice work! Philips fan over here. I have an LED strip on the back side of my bookshelf, since the way mine is built I can't hide the LEDs inside it. Not even on the underside of the shelves since they're glass.
    My only critique to Philips is that the bulbs - not the strips, aren't very very bright, so you need to have a bunch to have adequate lighting ($$$). For those saying that strips are ridiculously expensive: yes they are, but if you don't have lamps to put the bulbs in the lighting/price comes fairly close between naked lightstrips or buying lamps PLUS the bulbs.

    WOW someone really likes Philips to pay this much for a book shelf never the less a whole house. I guess if you have the money, time, and creativity, have at it. I've got to admit though, it looks pretty damn slick.

    Nice job with the lights and good video. I've been researching and thinking about getting the Philips lightstrip plus with the Philips Hue 2'nd. generation. So far I like what I see about them. I'm looking into doing over or under my kitchen cabinets and inside an display cabinet. Thanks for posting. John

    Those light strips look so awesome inside the book cases. Can you buy the light strips in different lengths?

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Philips Hue Light Strips comes in only 6.5 feet strips. But you can cut the strips with scissors every 3 inches to fit whatever you need. The only thing is you can't reuse the part you cut off. Hope this helps.

    Hey beautiful setup man looks really cool with the blue effect i have a question how are the strips running parallel to each other with no light on the top side or bottom side? is there an extension or did you cover it up so we could only see the sides? hope you understand my question thank you good day!

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Each Philips hue light strips is 6.5 feet long and has its own power supply. So they're not connected in any way to each other on top or bottom. You can cut them every 3 inches to fit the area you want, but you can't reuse the part you cut off.

      Sorry for responding back so late. The trick is to just save up a little at a time. I will buy a Philips hue light bulb every so often and pretty soon it adds up. Thanks for the commenting.

    So the whole lighting system in your house is hooked up to its own remote?

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the lights are hooked up to my home network, which is controlled by my iPad. Its the Philips Hue lighting system that you can buy at any Apple Store or BestBuy.

    would it be possible to use a very small screw to fasten the strip, say under a cabinet with out wrecking the lightstrip? great job,looks really good!

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend it. It comes with sticky tape on the back that works pretty good.

      +Losttouchjs Thanks for the info, I will probably get my first strip this weekend...

  • @AudiS4orce1
    @AudiS4orce1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did you connect the two sides? Are they all one long strip, or two strips? I have a book case too, and I wanna do it on the shelves themselves, like I want 5 shorter strips, connected to one outlet, is that possible?

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      AudiS4orce1 Yes it’s possible but not with Philips Hue it would be way too expensive to use them, Plus you’ll be using more than one outlet. You’re going to have to look at a video that Installs it on the shelves because I’m not too familiar with that.

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, And the Philips Hue are two strips one on each side two separate power source.

  • @K0NY718
    @K0NY718 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, nice job Im new to the hue and have just the light strips so far under my couch but would like to put it behind my tv as well but I am not sure how it will work because the strips dont really curve and if i cut those pieces are wasted and i dont want to buy separate lightstrips for one tv which i have a 60", any ideas how to put the lightstrips on all sides of the back of the tv and making it stick well?

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use the light strips in the back of my TV that you see in the video. When I applied the light strips I didn't do anything fancy, all I did was when I turn the corner from the top to go down the side I just basically made a loop instead of making a sharp turn because it's almost impossible with these light strips to make a sharp turn. The two-sided tape is pretty good so you probably won't have any problem sticking it to your TV. The only part that will not be sticking to the back of the TV is the loop part, I haven't had any problems with the light strips coming off. I hope this answers your question and thanks for viewing the video.

    quick question. do you know if by using hue light bulbs you can control separate rooms ex: bedroom and kitchen etc. and what happen when you turn off the wall switch?

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can control the Hue lights in any room separately. If I want to say turn on my lights just in my bedroom or just my bookcase lights I can. It's all done by the Phillips Hue App that you can download on IOS or Android. Yes, you can also turn on the Phillips Hue lights by the wall switch if you prefer.

    $200 just 2 LED strips for your bookshelf... Not worth it.

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And I totally agree it is pricey. There is options though like getting cheaper LED strips with the remote style that's less expensive. I wanted these because it works with my home network and that's worth the price in my opinion.

    • @BRCollector
      @BRCollector 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Losttouchjs Don't get me wrong, I completely get it. I have Hue and about 20 lights and 2 Bloom lights but the LED strips I just can't justify, specially when you need 2 to fill a bookshelf.

    • @Losttouchjs
      @Losttouchjs  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, I completely agree having to buy 2 LED strips for one bookcase, very expensive. Now I have 3 bookcases with the Hue Lights Strips at a cost of $600, lol. Sounds like you have a nice set up also, you even have more lights than I do. I have 8 Hue Lightbulbs and 10 Light Strips. I never regretted my decision though, I only bought lights when I had extra money to burn. Hey, thanks for commenting.

    • @BRCollector
      @BRCollector 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I love them. If you're using the Hue app or something similar, I recommend using Roomie Remote - it's what I use not only for Hue but to control my whole apartment for TVs, blinds, lighting, Sonos etc etc. A fantastic app that really enhances the Hue experience... It's iOS only just so you know :)
