You do realize that Dolly Parton wrote this song before Whitney ever dreamt of singing it....Dolly wrote the song for Porter Wagoner and performed it on the Porter Wagoner Show in 1973. So it’s more like the fame of Dolly Parton not Whitney. Especially considering the fact that Dolly Parton is still singing and writing music to this day...when was the last song Whitney recorded...in 2012...hands down Dolly is much more of an idol and icon than Whitney!

Despite how much the writers ruined both of their characters, they were always endgame. Thank you! They were the only decently written thing that came out of season 5. It's also fans that want Samchel. Rachel is my favorite character and they do have chemistry (mainly cuz Lea is such an amazing actress) but it's just the writers wanting Rachel to end up with someone as close to Finn as possible. The chemistry b/w Mercedes and Sam was so natural and worked so well in season 5. I was surprised at how it came out since I was never the biggest Sam fan. Every couple had issues and went back and forth and ended up being immature. But Samcedes went thru issues without making them seem like little kids or without some plot device to get them together. *cough* hypnotism *cough* elevator *cough* marriage proposals. Sorry, I was just trying to get the bad taste of the writers out of my throat. But anyway, the fact that they broke up to allow themselves to move forward with their careers, well at least for Mercedes, was one of the most mature decisions any of the kids made in season 5. And when I saw Mercedes and Sam together I didn't see their skin color or their size. Chord and Amber's acting last season were so great that I truly felt the love b/w them.
I don't see Rachel and Sam ending the series together. On the account Cory/Finn means too much to have those two ending together. The writers has to make Sam hypnotized to even look Rachel's way. amber's the only one on the show who constantly sings songs that perfectly match her voice. like, lea and chris don't sound right when they sing pop songs, and naya didn't sound right covering don't rain on my parade, but amber can pull off every song she covers on glee. i guess that goes to show how versatile she is.

I actually felt awful seeing Shane’s face with tears coming down (1:20) because the thought of crying over someone is just too much. I felt that and I’m sure others too so seeing this for some reason made me feel heartbroken 😞
As much as I love Sam and Mercedes together, I hated seeing Shane crying. He was supportive of her dreams when Mercedes wanted to play Maria in West Side Story but didn't believe she was good enough. I wanted his character to have more screen time.
Also despite being a jock he seems like a very gentle person. Normally a person’s reaction to being cheated on (at least in Glee) is anger and resentment, but in this case it was sadness. The original rendition was Dolly! Dolly wrote this song. Dolly was asked her permission to use this song in “The Bodyguard”. Dolly didn’t answer and then she was driving down the road listening to the radio and she had to pull over when she heard Whitney singing it. Dolly said she was bawling her eyes out!!
I also did too. The minute she started to sing I knew right off it was her. She has that unforgettable voice. They can try to disguise her voice all they wanted to. You just knew the first second. She is so underrated!

I really enjoyed seeing a fat, dark-skinned Black girl be wooed and liked in a romantic way. I also enjoyed seeing a male character that had been romantically involved with one of the most popular girls also like Mercedes. I've watched some shows that always give Black women scraps when it comes to romantic interests and typically, the scraps that they're given are the guys that no other character wanted/was ever linked to romantically (Bonnie and Enzo from TVD for example). The Black women/girl characters are typically given love interests that don't "threaten the status quo" either. Like, if a male character had been romantically involved with another woman/girl character,(usually, it's almost always a white woman/girl character) the Black girl/woman would not be paired with him. Even if that male character and the other love interest are not together anymore, the Black girl/woman would never have a chance with the male character romantically because as I said above, it would "threaten the status quo" and the Black girl/woman would be seen as a "threat" to the other women/girl characters because now, the Black girl/woman can also attain the guys that they are often given. That's why I appreciate shows like The Flash where you see a Black woman be paired with the male lead and she's loved openly and passionately. She's not struggling in love and she's loved/treated the way that she deserves to be loved and treated.

Rachel is my favorite character and they do have chemistry (mainly cuz Lea is such an amazing actress) but it's just the writers wanting Rachel to end up with someone as close to Finn as possible. The chemistry b/w Mercedes and Sam was so natural and worked so well in season 5. I was surprised at how it came out since I was never the biggest Sam fan.
Every couple had issues and went back and forth and ended up being immature. But Samcedes went thru issues without making them seem like little kids or without some plot device to get them together. *cough* hypnotism *cough* elevator *cough* marriage proposals.
Sorry, I was just trying to get the bad taste of the writers out of my throat. But anyway, the fact that they broke up to allow themselves to move forward with their careers, well at least for Mercedes, was one of the most mature decisions any of the kids made in season 5. And when I saw Mercedes and Sam together I didn't see their skin color or their size. Chord and Amber's acting last season were so great that I truly felt the love b/w them.
I don't see Rachel and Sam ending the series together. On the account Cory/Finn means too much to have those two ending together. The writers has to make Sam hypnotized to even look Rachel's way. It's a big joke. Look how they writing this mess. Instead of this Sue putting Sam under hypnosis into liking Rachel. We could be getting Mercedes and Sam development,but no we get a horrible storyline. I just want the waste of storyline to end already. And Samcedes get back together before the series is over. Also,to does Samchel fans shipping,because they are desperate to see Rachel have a man. Never mind Sam heart is with Mercedes. And he has no real feeling for Rachel. Because,Sam is hypnotized the whole time. The writers should be ashamed of themselves. To think writing such trash. Would be funny. Samcedes means soo much to people. They don't even get it.
Amber Riley's voice is so amazing! She really made this her own. No one compares to Whitney's but Amber does an amazing job with this.

Sam and Mercedes clearly loved each other very much every time they always brought themselves back together. They were way more mature than a lot of the couples and could work out their problems. So annoying and doesn’t make any sense for them not to be together.

I really enjoyed seeing a fat, dark-skinned Black girl be wooed and liked in a romantic way. I also enjoyed seeing a male character that had been romantically involved with one of the most popular girls also like Mercedes. I've watched some shows that always give Black women scraps when it comes to romantic interests and typically, the scraps that they're given are the guys that no other character wanted/was ever linked to romantically (Bonnie and Enzo from TVD for example). The Black women/girl characters are typically given love interests that don't "threaten the status quo" either. Like, if a male character had been romantically involved with another woman/girl character,(usually, it's almost always a white woman/girl character) the Black girl/woman would not be paired with him. Even if that male character and the other love interest are not together anymore, the Black girl/woman would never have a chance with the male character romantically because as I said above, it would "threaten the status quo" and the Black girl/woman would be seen as a "threat" to the other women/girl characters because now, the Black girl/woman can also attain the guys that they are often given.
That's why I appreciate shows like The Flash where you see a Black woman be paired with the male lead and she's loved openly and passionately. She's not struggling in love and she's loved/treated the way that she deserves to be loved and treated.
