it's every other year LCS trys to claim they have a "superteam" that is finally going to do well internationally, and every single time that superteam finds a way to not only lose but embarrass the LCS even more than the last superteam
Being late to practice twice would get you benched in the NA big 4 sports. 10+ times would get you sent down to the minors or traded. 40+ times is unbelievable and unacceptable.
I really wonder why people think it would be normal to NOT get fired if you are late all the time. Idc if you have immense skill or a heavy ass contract, that is an attitude that SHOULD get you fired imo.
My #1 pet peeve for any field of work is being late. I hate when mfers are late. It ruins things for everyone involved whether or not the person who’s late thinks so. My coworkers are always late and it fucks me over every time
I dont know, Jojo has looked checked out the entire summer split. I know he's apparently fighting this termination but, I dont see him being on C9 again next season.
If this turns out to be C9 just trying to terminate the contract to save money, Then, added to the Yay situation, C9 is definitely a team pros should stay away from
I remember watching some of the banter with c9 members right after they acquired Jojo. It didn't seem like the team was really all that welcoming of him. He looked awkward and his performances were too. I can't help wonder how things might have gone if the whole team had really welcomed him in and made him feel at home from day one.
deserved even with an illness you wouldnt be late 40+ times its not like you get an armor cause of it if you already know you wont be able to make it in time for an entire season move to a sub slot and let someone else actually appear to the trainings
They clearly did this to make him undesirable so they can renegotiate a contract. It's no secret these esports teams are beholden to investors that care little about the brand and its players and more about short term profits. If this was strictly about tardiness, a good head couch would find a compromise. If it's medical, it would have been something like working with a doctor to find out what times were more ideal for practice and switching over to that time period, taking more frequent breaks, and coming up with a better health regiment. I have pelvic floor dysfunction and I have to be extremely careful about what I eat and drink, how much water I drink, how much physical activity I do, when I take my meds, and how much stress I put myself under or else I'll be in unfathomable pain. Disabilities are often a full time job that require a knowledgeable doctor to manage effectively and it sounds like Jojo isn't getting the help he deserves if it IS a health problem.
Well, it depends on the job. Im regrettably late to my job everyday and I’m still there. I cant speak for ALL jobs but i assume that some (like mine) dont mind as long as you do your job properly (which i do). I technically get punished by getting UPT deducted but it’s such a minor infraction that it doesnt even matter, my employment relies heavily on me having a positive amount of UPT so as long as i dont go negative I’m fine which is very easy to do since i earn UPT on the daily (more than what i lose).
This does not surprise me at all. He has seemed like an entitled brat since he entered the scene. It actually explains a lot about Berserkers hate for Jojos work ethic. Good on Jack for holding players accountable.
I mean this happening isn't much of a surprise, after franchising came in everyone got complacent and the league started to die. I'll never forget looking up pro solo que accounts just to see both Santorin and Xsmithie being a lower rank than me when I was plat 3. Keep in mind these were two of the better players in the league at that time now just imagine how much less everyone else had to be doing for those two to be at the top of the league.
Honestly, Professionalism has been a big problem with players on a lot of american teams. IM NOT SAYING THAT IT DOESNT HAPPEN IN OTHER REGIONS, but it does look like it happens a lot more in western probably american region.
Is a job, take it seriously. Be on time is important. Even Rekkles can be away from home soil and play for Tier-2 teams show up early to training than his teammate.
Are they allowed to just fire him without a warning? In my country you can only be fired for something little like tardiness when you get at least 3 official written warnings about it.
Anyone defending this guy is beyond helping. How disrespectful and selfish do you have to be waste 9+ other people's time. Hope he catches hell finding somewhere else to play. Being on time is the most basic rule of respect in a professional setting.
simply for tardiness? if once in a while sure... but multiple times then he is not showing professionalism. This is bad for the morale of the whole team
At the end of the day, it's still a JOB. Idc if you're the best in your profession. Being late 43 times (more bc that's just how many times he was tardy after they started tracking) is deserving of being fired. I know I'd probably be fired from my job if I had even 5 unexcused tardies. 43 is just insane.
You get fired for being consistently late for any other job on the planet. This is standard stuff in the real world. I see no reason why that wouldn't apply to eSports.
If you have an autoimmune disorder that you are not dealing with and causes you to be late constantly then you don't deserve to be on the biggest team. You're an adult handle your shit. No excuses. No my tum tum hurts. Kind of pisses me off this is even being debated as a valid reason. He needs to handle his shit and he isn't.
Jojo dragged to be an example. Reminds me of how they dragged Wesley Snipes for not paying his Income Taxes. Most people get fined and they accept to pay. But they booked and out Snipes in prison to show that they could. Sad. Just suspend him for a year without pay.
I think the first question in this video is irrelevant. Clearly something needed to change in the organization. Failures force you to look internally. You cut bait with people who are not respecting the job. It's not even a question I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.
NA LCS has had dogshit work ethic for years. I heard from an insider that most LCS pros (mostly bottom half of the professional talent spectrum) act as if they've "made it" once they're salaried and stop grinding and start e-dating and playing other games. It's why we don't win shit, so honestly I'm glad that they're taking action because showing up late is bullshit. You have the dream job because you're good at games, least you can do is show the fuck up on time.
Facts! Chaox was one of those ADC players that could keep up with DoubleLift, but Chaox rarely gave a shit about being late and he was always hanging out with the females in the scene.
C9 fires or benches anyone that is underperforming in their eyes. How is this surprising in the slightest? They did the same thing to Yay, Beserk, LS, so many supports. Its basically the MO of the org now and people are surprised when they do it again?
@Lemur_OS it's also business and this is what regular business do. Even if you are the best player on the team, if they can't afford him and can't restructure a contract, they'll do shit like this.
I mean in some and teams and other esport if a player is late or didn’t show unexpectedly they get finned. Its just unfortunate this thing unravel the same time they didn’t qualify. If it was true 40+ plus times why just now??
Anyone who says it's for only tardiness is either out of the loop (and shouldn't really be speaking about news), delusional, or just trying to stir up drama (and shouldn't really be speaking about news, because they aren't speaking unbiased which is what news should be). He's been reported on several occasions to have a bad attitude and not care about scrims at all, often times running it and just not giving a fck. You can't fire someone for bad attitude so they needed a concrete reason. Jojo was super good and fun to watch until suddenly he wasn't. His plays are uninspired, he no longer goes for outplays, he's not even a solid mid laner in any part of the game, lane, midgame or late game. This isn't about the lateness, the lateness is just another symptom of his recent change in attitude.
Stop calling these teams "super teams". C9 was not a super team. A super team is a team that has the best player in the league in every position. C9 didn't even have that in 3 rolls, let alone 5.
C9 IS NOT A SUPERTEAM. Please stop saying that…tell me who on the team is the best at their position. Don’t worry I will tell you….none of them. To be super you need to perform super which C0 hasn’t done since Perkz was on the team and that team wasn’t even that good. NA players are overpaid and lazy and lack ambition. JoJo performance in both splits was just good awful but I’m not one of the people who thought he was any good anyway. He was good enough to get a spot on an NA team anywhere else he would be in the minor division same as everyone else on the team.
It never started as one, I remember it being called the team to look out for, cuz Thanatos became like Zeus to fit the Exodia of C9. Then it snowballed to people calling it Super Team. Which idk where it came from lol
What i dont understand is why they let it till 43x times? It just weird 🤔 they can strip him as main n just kick him out if he still like that as reserve. Well LCS is in dangerous state, so i can understand the drama. Everything has became expensive in Uncle Sam country i can understand that too 😂😂😂 Joke aside, just forget the goner and let him be
Honestly, Jojo was toxic. He was always inting in scrims, pissed Berserker off so bad that he punched a door, and got warned it would be him next by Vulcan. Jojo comes off as arrogant and cocky. But his performance says otherwise. I never thought he was as good as people claimed him to be on that EG Roster. I thought he was carried to that fame and it went to his head.
Regardless of circumstance you, as an esports player, are filling a role millions wish they could and getting fired for being absent or late is nothing but your own fault. You possibly threw away your career in esports in a way that not even a McDonald’s worker could…

Imagine that kind of behavior being tolerated anywhere else. Imagine LeBron showing up late 43 times in such a short period of time like that
I mean he can if he wants to and the thing is LeBron can be late to the meeting but still drop 27 7 7 on a nightly basis since he has proven that he will always perform while the likes of Jojo who yes may be a promising talent and is proven to be a top tier player in the LCS it hasnt equated to any winning while LeBron has proven he can guide a team to championship victory
Jojo's consistent tardiness sounds like a OVA title for Jojo.
Yeah bruv, this shit is unacceptable.
No matter how good you are.
it's every other year LCS trys to claim they have a "superteam" that is finally going to do well internationally, and every single time that superteam finds a way to not only lose but embarrass the LCS even more than the last superteam
Lots of great athletes don’t make top teams because of attitude. Makes sense it would extend to esports
Being late to practice twice would get you benched in the NA big 4 sports. 10+ times would get you sent down to the minors or traded. 40+ times is unbelievable and unacceptable.
Many questions regarding Jojo and what will go on in this year's off season.
43 times? holy jeez... I don't even get late that much in one entire school year.
I really wonder why people think it would be normal to NOT get fired if you are late all the time. Idc if you have immense skill or a heavy ass contract, that is an attitude that SHOULD get you fired imo.
It's work ethics to come in time,if you're late even if you're good at the job someone can always replace you
My #1 pet peeve for any field of work is being late. I hate when mfers are late. It ruins things for everyone involved whether or not the person who’s late thinks so. My coworkers are always late and it fucks me over every time
Management excuses to not pay(payless)or to kick out someone. Very common to the 9-5 job.
I dont know, Jojo has looked checked out the entire summer split. I know he's apparently fighting this termination but, I dont see him being on C9 again next season.
if your ace works hard it spreads and also if you ace is lazy and not srs it spreads too. one player can bring down the entire team
43 times sounds like a number someone pulled out of thin air 😂
If this turns out to be C9 just trying to terminate the contract to save money,
Then, added to the Yay situation, C9 is definitely a team pros should stay away from
totally deserved if he has no actual good reason for that
I remember watching some of the banter with c9 members right after they acquired Jojo.
Disabilities are often a full time job that require a knowledgeable doctor to manage effectively and it sounds like Jojo isn't getting the help he deserves if it IS a health problem.
i dont mean to defend but i hope they gave him a serious warning to begin with, because maybe that could of solved that issue entirely
this is a job. if ur late to any other job regularly u will be fired. idk why this should be any different.
If you are not trying to suggest that C9 want to get rid of Jojo, then why would you even suggest that or speculate on it at the end of the vid?
Honestly, Professionalism has been a big problem with players on a lot of american teams. IM NOT SAYING THAT IT DOESNT HAPPEN IN OTHER REGIONS, but it does look like it happens a lot more in western probably american region.
Is a job, take it seriously. Be on time is important. Even Rekkles can be away from home soil and play for Tier-2 teams show up early to training than his teammate.
Is it just me or is the camera quality in this video terrible?
what is it with c9 players always being late to scrims or games?
Are they allowed to just fire him without a warning? In my country you can only be fired for something little like tardiness when you get at least 3 official written warnings about it.
You guys didnt memtion cadreals opinion which is they could have counted seconds or mins st beibg tardy so they dont have to payout his contract.
Anyone defending this guy is beyond helping. How disrespectful and selfish do you have to be waste 9+ other people's time. Hope he catches hell finding somewhere else to play. Being on time is the most basic rule of respect in a professional setting.
Good. There is no justification for being late 43 fucking times. 43?! How is that justifiable in any way?
simply for tardiness? if once in a while sure... but multiple times then he is not showing professionalism.
I’m just about any real profession regular tardiness would be a problem
You get fired for being consistently late for any other job on the planet. This is standard stuff in the real world. I see no reason why that wouldn't apply to eSports.
"gamer whos never had a real job", not suprised
Jojo's Bizarre Termination...
Delusional take.
C9 fires or benches anyone that is underperforming in their eyes. How is this surprising in the slightest? They did the same thing to Yay, Beserk, LS, so many supports. Its basically the MO of the org now and people are surprised when they do it again?
Why is this such a crazy idea? Pretty sure you would get fired if you showed up late to work every day too... this whole video is a millennial moment
this seems like another yay situation, c9 dont wanna pay them so they come up with some bullshit excuse
he was late 43 times AFTER they started counting bro... they arent making shit up lmao
@@Lemur_OSterrible logic. If you actually care as a manager, you’ll bring it up and correct it instead of being petty and tracking it.
@Lemur_OS it's also business and this is what regular business do. Even if you are the best player on the team, if they can't afford him and can't restructure a contract, they'll do shit like this.
@@Lamb666 No one is saying they didn't, don't make up random stuff
@@Lamb666 you're assuming quite a lot here bud
I mean in some and teams and other esport if a player is late or didn’t show unexpectedly they get finned. Its just unfortunate this thing unravel the same time they didn’t qualify. If it was true 40+ plus times why just now??
Turn up late to any job enough and you will probably be fired, esports is no different because it is still a job after all.
he thought he is in game net... unfortunately he is working as professional gamer
I you don't see consistent tardiness as an issue then you have never lived in the real world.
C9 shouldn't have to pay out a massive contract for a player with such a garbage work ethic. No job should in any industry.
You get payed to do it, you have to fully commit to it bruh, is that easy
JoJo situation is bizzare
No way they're a superteam with that mid and jungle duo
I don't care if it was 1 second or not. No wonder drafts looked shit this guy couldn't practice. This tardiness affects the team too.
This almost like vtuber case where dokibird got terminal without reason......😂
Crazy that a gamer is getting terminated for been a gamer considering like 70% of gamers are lazy
I mean, they’re gaming for actual money
when money is on the line, it's an actual job now
Regardless of circumstance you, as an esports player, are filling a role millions wish they could and getting fired for being absent or late is nothing but your own fault. You possibly threw away your career in esports in a way that not even a McDonald’s worker could…
The real villain is Riot games themselves. Thorin and Monti made good points on the latest summoning insight about Riot refusing to try and fix the issue with competitive esports and letting it just die out.
i think the kid doesnt want to play for c9... 43 times late its like james harden getting fat to get traded
Isnt this happened to Chaox back in like 2013 or something, this is not new
IWD knows alot about tardiness
Guess all that trashtalk was for nothing. Imagine that you just play a competitive game for a job- and have a balls to be late for scrims and practice. LMAO
get your tin foil hats everyone, we got a huge conspiracy incoming XD
He is a "professional" league player, right? If he is in fact is always tardy, then he should get fired rightfully so.
do this in a real job and u wont even get 43 chances
