Thank you for this MINI deep dive! My condolences and respect for going on with creating content at this time. I lost my father 4 years ago and it was like all air was stolen from me until I went to therapy. We're left "unshielded" from eternity when our parents pass away ❤. I'm currently in the middle, but wanted to comment before I forgot by the end of the video: 1. The fact that EXO sold a concert in 0.4 sec and got into Guinness Book, only to break their record and sell another album in 0.2 sec! 2. Suho is currently starring in the main role of the musical "Mozart!", his theatre career is very bright. 3. Xiumin also played in a musicamusical Hadestown as Orpheus. 4. Baekhyun is a double million seller now. 5. Kai's called human Gucci, as he's the first ever Korean to become Gucci Global brand ambassador (and first to be just a Korean brand ambassador) and he had a whole collection with Gucci inspired by his live of bears (I wish I could attach a photo here of how beautiful Gucci store was with a HUGE bear on top, promoting Kai's collection), in general, Kai's a fashionista and was in top-10 most influential people in fashion globally (alongside Lady Gaga and Zendaya). Currently he's the muse for YSL beauty after his contract with Bobby Brown was over (but he was the first MALE muse for them). His first Film:Kai became a landmark in kpop. He won Blue Dragon Award (like an oscar) for best rookie entertainer after participating in Netflix show The New World alongside the most prominent and loved entertainers in SK. (I highly recommend watching, it's HILARIOUS). Oh, and he won an award for Andante (love this role of his). Kai's the star with the biggest number of magazine covers in SK, he could be a model as photographers and magazines live working with him. And he was the Ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week in 2021. His endorsement of Charmzone masks sold over 17 million masks in 28 days exactly in February when Kai joined the campaign. Edit: wow! What a wonderful video. Your words are fu of respect for EXO 🥺 they're trendsetters, their fashion, songs, choreography, even hair set trends for the rest of the industry. When people ask who listens to EXO, we all know that younger idols put EXO as their role model. Every company tried to hire the same producer but he said that only EXO can pull off his songs: "you all want your group to be like EXO". So, who listens to EXO? Your fave 😉

EXO is so deep rooted in Kpop, you can never forget them or leave them out when you are talking about the rise of kpop. Thank you EXO for birthing modern day kpop and reviving this industry.
This is so true... at least from my POV. Kpop became a trend from where I was around 2009 (SJ, SNSD, 2NE1 & BIGBANG were frontrunners of this popularity) but after a few years, people started to think it was uncool, and a lot of fans became antis. But 2013 hit hard again with the release of XOXO album. Growl was being played everywhere, the fandom culture flourished---from selling out merchs to writing fanfictions. Aside from a new generation of fan girls, a lot of boys who used to hate KPOP started stanning EXO too. They ended the 12 year drought of physical album sales and were the first of so many things. I saw people saying that if EXO didn't become big, 3rd gen would've started and ended a bit later but they set a lot of milestones that they drew a line between 2nd and 3rd gen.

I was actually crying when I watched this. As an exol since 2013 we experienced a lot of things with EXO. I know that they are very successful but new kpop fans try to belittle EXO in any way possible and sometimes even I tend to forget the achievements they have. Thank you for doing a mini deep dive into EXO's career. It is nice to be reminded of the good things that happened in the past 💓
I agree with you ☹️ It really hurts me when they say nonsense about EXO and attribute K-Pop's success to their groups and deny EXO's achievements exo did a lot and they still do , It's enough that they have the best vocals in K-Pop✨
D.O. also won a Blue Dragon Award for his acting a.k.a. the most prestigious acting award in SK. And Kai also has a collab with Gucci, aside from being their global brand ambassador. EXO KINGS
actually EXO has 2 Blue Dragon awards, one for D.O. as mentioned, the other for Kai for best new male entertainer award (variety shows category) in 2022
Exo is literally the reason why these groups be coming out with their own universe story lines...they revolutionized it. Kai literally popularized men wearing crop tops in kpop. There's sooooo much EXO has done that you're correct this video would need to be hours long. It's sad asf when I see newer kpop fans trying to erase the accolades and strides of the generations that literally inspired their faves today

“Before there was BTS, there was EXO” SCREAM IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE THAT KEEP DISRESPECTING MY KINGS. I’m not saying BTS are not deserving of their success because they totally are and what they’ve done for the Kpop community is astounding, but the fact that EXO has literally paved the way, the same as GG did before, and people keep forgetting or just straight disrespect them, it’s annoying. All the groups have done something to get kpop to where it is now. Thank you for this amazing deep dive. I’ve been a fan of EXO since debut and it is amazing to see everything they have accomplished. BTS and BLACKPINK absolutely deserve all the love and credit for what they’ve done and continue to do. But I also think it’s important to zoom out so to speak and see the wider picture as well. At least for me, it makes me appreciate what BTS and BLACKPINK have been able to do when we look at the other groups and idols who came before (or even around the same time as) them. 💙💙💙

Achievements that have been missed- - Baekhyun's third album again sold 1 million copies, and became Top 20 Best K-pop Albums of 2021, without any promotions or music show performances since he went to the military right after releasing the album. - Baekyun is also the creative director of Privé - Kai has been the global brand ambassador of Gucci for 6 years and has also released his own collection with them. he is known as the muse of Gucci. - Kai is also known as the top 3 dancers in Kpop along with SHINee Taemin and BTS Jimin - Chanyeol is also multi-talented, he can play the piano, guitar, and drums, write, produce, compose, dance, rap, sing, act, excels at sports, etc. - Chanyeol's musical 'Meissa's Song' also made various achievements in Korea and his movie 'The box' also made various records in Korea and worldwide. - Xiumin had also released his own clothing line with Represent. - Apart from these, EXO and its members have been brand ambassadors for more than 20 luxury brands throughout the years. Im proud to be an EXOtic ( before exol 😂 ) since debut 2012 and i am still an exol til now no matter how many groups came out after them. Just like Suho said, even if there’s only ONE exol left, they’ll still perform and i will become that ONE exol😊

I wholeheartedly believe that BTS and Blackpink deserve their credit for what they’ve done, but zooming out the picture to see all the other wonderful contributions to kpop that other groups and idols have made makes appreciating what newer groups are doing so much more significant. Baekhyun, Chen, D.O have are the best I've ever heard in the industry! Especially Kyungsoo's low, tone, soulful RnB riff's, just does something to me. As a lover of old RnB music EXO has THAT sound that I've been looking for and missing, I don't really hear in today's K-pop. It's soooo refreshing to hear EXO's music, such a change from the cookie cutter stuff these days. The significance of EXO to KPOP is insane. Imagine ending the 12 years drought of kpop?? And the fact that social media or mass streaming wasn't a thing then, it really proves that EXO is THAT kind of group.
Also I am so glad to see we still get new EXO-Ls joining the family to this day. OG fans like me are already almost 30+ and it’s so incredible to witness EXO gaining new fans, proving us that indeed EXO’s music and skills will trespass time and people will still be listening to first snow even years after their retirement..
Exo was a big part of my teen years and now in my twenties they still have a great impect on me. They're that group you can't keep your eyes off no matter how many years passes. Their legacy is real and will continue to thrive for generations!
I love to see it too! I am 40+ and was in my 30s when they debuted. I was just as excited in 2011 as I am about their comeback. I look forward to many more comebacks as a group and soloist. And patiently waiting for my bias Kai to return.
Kpop fans nowadays are so proud of breaking yt records, but it’s mainly because internet connection is more convenient and kpop is more widely popular too. Breaking album sales record is also easy as nowadays even for international they can easily buy albums compared before. Also, hollywood or international music companies recognized kpop nowadays compared before. In the kpop world where it’s difficult to be recognized and get to top, EXO MADE IT- aside from that their vocals are top tier. When vocals are heavenly, visuals just became a bonus!

I consider myself a fairly seasoned EXO-L by now, but I learned a few new things here. Love how you presented everything. I hope new EXO listeners or just curious folks will enjoy this and dive into EXO's discography.
Firstly, I want to offer my condolences about your father. My deepest thoughts go out to you and the rest of your family. I hope that you are able to honor him in the best ways possible. Secondly, OMG I loved this! While I did want a more in-depth deep dive (I understand that you have a life outside of the internet, so don't feel rushed or overwork yourself), this will defintely hold me over until that day comes. I really loved what you had to say in regards in the global expansion of K-pop during the 3rd generation. It really was a group effort, and I hate to see people disregard other groups' contributions to the Hallyu Wave just because they aren't selling out stadiums like BTS or Blackpink. While those two groups do deserve their success, they didn't do it alone or overnight. It was years of hard work and dedication by dozens of groups and their fans working together to bring K-pop where it is now. I also loved how you highlighted the members' solo careers! It's incredible to see how much they have all flourished, not in the group, but outside as well. The only other group I can recall doing so is Girls' Generation themselves (please correct me if I'm wrong). Overall, a perfect mini deep dive on EXO and their accomplishments. Though, if this mini deep dive is almost 30 minutes, I can't imagine how long a full length in-depth deep dive might be. But I'll watch in full because your videos are always such high quality and are always full of passion!

Thank you for this video, the existence of EXO is so impactful to the KPOP and their impact did so much things for KPOP today that it hurts me how lot of ignorant Kpop stans ignore them and their achievements. EXO done so much and too much people deny on purpose all they did. As you said "They didn't do alone. EXO was right there and before BTS, EXO was there". Selling 1 Million became a thing thanks to EXO, they were THE ONLY ONE selling 1 M albums per comeback for 5 whole years.

After watching this video, I am even more convinced that EXO is a group that will always be remembered. They not only have beautiful voices but also big hearts. I am proud to be their fan ❤
3 of the members won DAESANG a major award in k-pop. They also have the walk of fame in Dubai. I'm into kdrama but i met IU and EXO in 2021 so i decided to stan them and I'm already in my 30's.😂
As you asked - their first tour speed for ticket sales did break the record, but their second tour broke it again, and again. They still hold it at 0.2 seconds. Visuals, Kai holds the record for the most magazine front covers for a celebrity in Korea, a lot of it due to the fact that he was the first global Ambassador (as opposed to Asian Ambassadors as most Kpop stars are) for Gucci, they even gave him his own capsule collection. The fashion and beauty links the members hold is really impressive, including Baekhyun producing his own designs for Privé Alliance, but there are too many to mention here. EXO andEXO-L are also well known for charity work, as are a lot of Kpop fan groups, putting money towards schools and disaster relief to name just a couple. As well as the Nations Pick, the industry 9as opposes to fan named) also call them the Powerhouse of Kpop and the Vocal Kings, Kai was named Asia's First Love, the Idol of Idols and the Dancing King, Baekhyun is called the Genius Idol, there are so many more. And ... there's too much more! Thank you for this introduction. Many people do not understand who EXO are and why they are so important to and so respected by the Kpop industry. It is hard to look back and understand what they meant, but believe me, their impact was huge and remains huge. Here's hoping they will continue to bless us with their immense talents for years to come.

You can cry all you want EXO was important for kpop in Asia, for more than you all shout BTS and BP were the ones that have a real impact internationally and not only in Asia...you can see everything...You can try to claim all you want but the truth is that in terms of globally BTS and BP are and will stay higher than EXO, it is what it is. You should be happy that Exo is really important among 3th generation because YES for me the big3 out the 3th G are BTS, EXO and BP, but you should learn how to be more obejctive, because you can't compare what BTS and BP did for kpop internationally with what EXO did sorry...😂

EXO is really the most TALENTED artists in the kpop industry, no one can come close to beating EXOs vocals they're a vocal powerhouse in the kpop industry I'm so proud to be a fan of such talented human beings instead of jumping into a trend bandwagon 😭🤍🤍🤍🤍
Well, their promotion sucks, especially considering that there were numerous Western opportunities for EXO that SM rejected, to name just a few: - SM turned down the Grammy. - SM declined Billboard. - SM rejected MTV EMAs. - SM said no to Coachella (despite being the first K-pop group invited). - SM rejected Western artists who wanted to collaborate with EXO. - SM refused Rihanna's offer to collaborate with Kai. - SM passed on Clean Bandit. - SM turned down Bazzi. - SM declined interviews for EXO with European media. - SM didn't support EXO's TH-cam career. Imagine if SM hadn't rejected these opportunities, especially considering EXO's real talent. Nevertheless, EXO managed to gain global recognition through their sheer talent, even without these opportunities. This guys are really amazing so humble even tho their company downgrades them in some ways EXO'Ls are there to support and even promote them. EXO will remain our KINGS. EXO SARANGHAJA.

Thank you so much for this video! I stumbled across EXO when I was exploring Kpop on my own in 2013, and they were one of the first artists I fell in love with. Their continued success is even more significant considering social media was still in flux when they debuted and steaming hadn't become the dominating force in kpop that it is now. Fun fact: They worked with Teddy Riley, who was a pioneer of R&B and New Jack swing and member of Blackstreet and Guy - I grew up on his music, so listening to EXO felt like home to me. He was a big factor in EXO's early music/sound and he deserves more flowers for his work.

second comment but: I just want to reiterate how good their vocals are, because that's what caught me first (apart from Lay at MET Gala), I started listening to Love Shot album and Tempo just caught me. Also, to add to Baekhyun singing the national anthem at the Olympics: EXO as a group of 8 performed at the closing ceremony and Kai opened the performance with a traditional dance! Furthermore - and this is just a personal note - Kai, Chen and Suho all went to be part of festivals in Europe and I'm very happy about it cause I really wanted to see my boys up close lol

4. Baekhyun is a double million seller now.
5. Kai's called human Gucci, as he's the first ever Korean to become Gucci Global brand ambassador (and first to be just a Korean brand ambassador) and he had a whole collection with Gucci inspired by his live of bears (I wish I could attach a photo here of how beautiful Gucci store was with a HUGE bear on top, promoting Kai's collection), in general, Kai's a fashionista and was in top-10 most influential people in fashion globally (alongside Lady Gaga and Zendaya). Currently he's the muse for YSL beauty after his contract with Bobby Brown was over (but he was the first MALE muse for them). His first Film:Kai became a landmark in kpop. He won Blue Dragon Award (like an oscar) for best rookie entertainer after participating in Netflix show The New World alongside the most prominent and loved entertainers in SK. (I highly recommend watching, it's HILARIOUS). Oh, and he won an award for Andante (love this role of his). Kai's the star with the biggest number of magazine covers in SK, he could be a model as photographers and magazines live working with him. And he was the Ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week in 2021. His endorsement of Charmzone masks sold over 17 million masks in 28 days exactly in February when Kai joined the campaign.

This is so true... at least from my POV. Kpop became a trend from where I was around 2009 (SJ, SNSD, 2NE1 & BIGBANG were frontrunners of this popularity) but after a few years, people started to think it was uncool, and a lot of fans became antis. But 2013 hit hard again with the release of XOXO album. Growl was being played everywhere, the fandom culture flourished---from selling out merchs to writing fanfictions. Aside from a new generation of fan girls, a lot of boys who used to hate KPOP started stanning EXO too. They ended the 12 year drought of physical album sales and were the first of so many things. I saw people saying that if EXO didn't become big, 3rd gen would've started and ended a bit later but they set a lot of milestones that they drew a line between 2nd and 3rd gen.

I was actually crying when I watched this. As an exol since 2013 we experienced a lot of things with EXO. I know that they are very successful but new kpop fans try to belittle EXO in any way possible and sometimes even I tend to forget the achievements they have. BTS and BLACKPINK absolutely deserve all the love and credit for what they’ve done and continue to do. But I also think it’s important to zoom out so to speak and see the wider picture as well. Baekhyun, Chen, D.O have are the best I've ever heard in the industry! Especially Kyungsoo's low, tone, soulful RnB riff's, just does something to me. As a lover of old RnB music EXO has THAT sound that I've been looking for and missing, I don't really hear in today's K-pop. It's soooo refreshing to hear EXO's music, such a change from the cookie cutter stuff these days. I love to see it too! I am 40+ and was in my 30s when they debuted. I was just as excited in 2011 as I am about their comeback. I look forward to many more comebacks as a group and soloist. And patiently waiting for my bias Kai to return.
Kpop fans nowadays are so proud of breaking yt records, but it’s mainly because internet connection is more convenient and kpop is more widely popular too. Breaking album sales record is also easy as nowadays even for international they can easily buy albums compared before. Also, hollywood or international music companies recognized kpop nowadays compared before. In the kpop world where it’s difficult to be recognized and get to top, EXO MADE IT- aside from that their vocals are top tier. When vocals are heavenly, visuals just became a bonus!

Secondly, OMG I loved this! While I did want a more in-depth deep dive (I understand that you have a life outside of the internet, so don't feel rushed or overwork yourself), this will defintely hold me over until that day comes. I really loved what you had to say in regards in the global expansion of K-pop during the 3rd generation. It really was a group effort, and I hate to see people disregard other groups' contributions to the Hallyu Wave just because they aren't selling out stadiums like BTS or Blackpink. While those two groups do deserve their success, they didn't do it alone or overnight. It was years of hard work and dedication by dozens of groups and their fans working together to bring K-pop where it is now. I also loved how you highlighted the members' solo careers! It's incredible to see how much they have all flourished, not in the group, but outside as well. The only other group I can recall doing so is Girls' Generation themselves (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Overall, a perfect mini deep dive on EXO and their accomplishments. Though, if this mini deep dive is almost 30 minutes, I can't imagine how long a full length in-depth deep dive might be. But I'll watch in full because your videos are always such high quality and are always full of passion!

3 of the members won DAESANG a major award in k-pop. They also have the walk of fame in Dubai. I'm into kdrama but i met IU and EXO in 2021 so i decided to stan them and I'm already in my 30's.😂
As you asked - their first tour speed for ticket sales did break the record, but their second tour broke it again, and again. They still hold it at 0.2 seconds. Visuals, Kai holds the record for the most magazine front covers for a celebrity in Korea, a lot of it due to the fact that he was the first global Ambassador (as opposed to Asian Ambassadors as most Kpop stars are) for Gucci, they even gave him his own capsule collection. The fashion and beauty links the members hold is really impressive, including Baekhyun producing his own designs for Privé Alliance, but there are too many to mention here. EXO andEXO-L are also well known for charity work, as are a lot of Kpop fan groups, putting money towards schools and disaster relief to name just a couple. As well as the Nations Pick, the industry 9as opposes to fan named) also call them the Powerhouse of Kpop and the Vocal Kings, Kai was named Asia's First Love, the Idol of Idols and the Dancing King, Baekhyun is called the Genius Idol, there are so many more. And ... there's too much more!

It is hard to look back and understand what they meant, but believe me, their impact was huge and remains huge. You can cry all you want EXO was important for kpop in Asia, for more than you all shout BTS and BP were the ones that have a real impact internationally and not only in Asia...you can see everything...You can try to claim all you want but the truth is that in terms of globally BTS and BP are and will stay higher than EXO, it is what it is. You should be happy that Exo is really important among 3th generation because YES for me the big3 out the 3th G are BTS, EXO and BP, but you should learn how to be more obejctive, because you can't compare what BTS and BP did for kpop internationally with what EXO did sorry...😂

Well, their promotion sucks, especially considering that there were numerous Western opportunities for EXO that SM rejected, to name just a few:
- SM turned down the Grammy.
- SM declined Billboard.
- SM rejected MTV EMAs.
- SM said no to Coachella (despite being the first K-pop group invited).
- SM rejected Western artists who wanted to collaborate with EXO.
- SM refused Rihanna's offer to collaborate with Kai.
- SM passed on Clean Bandit.
- SM turned down Bazzi.
- SM declined interviews for EXO with European media.
- SM didn't support EXO's TH-cam career.
Imagine if SM hadn't rejected these opportunities, especially considering EXO's real talent. Nevertheless, EXO managed to gain global recognition through their sheer talent, even without these opportunities. So, it's frustrating when people compare and define EXO's 'success' based on their popularity in the West and compare it to groups that had Western promotions when EXO didn't have the chance to do so in the first place.
Kai is also the 1st Korean to became a Gucci Global Ambassador.

His solo ventures are INSANE and he seems so genuine and kind and inspired me so much as an artist. I also am so happy that you say EXO are 9 members. After all the drama from other members leaving, other EXO fans just wanted the last remaining Chinese member to leave, but true fans know that EXO is 9 and that Lay has a strong bond with his band members and deserved to stay. I truly believe that the only KPOP boy group that could give BTS a run for their money for the number 1 spot is EXO because EXO offers a different take in music genre and delivery. Unfortunately SM did a terrible job in managing and promoting EXO and that opportunity had long sailed. Well regardless our 9 boys are all very successful collectively and individually. Their continued success is even more significant considering social media was still in flux when they debuted and steaming hadn't become the dominating force in kpop that it is now. Fun fact: They worked with Teddy Riley, who was a pioneer of R&B and New Jack swing and member of Blackstreet and Guy - I grew up on his music, so listening to EXO felt like home to me. He was a big factor in EXO's early music/sound and he deserves more flowers for his work.

Thank you for mentioning that it was not blackpink and BTS made KPOP famous outside korea but EXO had a major contribution too. Even though they were not promoted like BP and BTS globally they still made a big impact by staying on hiatus, and no Korean made Korea outside.

Hi! Thank you for this. EXO, this musically diverse, innovative, hard-working idol group, is one of the forerunners of the Hallyu wave. It is no exaggeration to say that there is nothing that EXO couldn't do. This may be the reason why, despite their inactivity as a group due to conscription, they have maintained their popularity & continued to influence new gen of Kpop. Their impact cannot be ignored. this video made me a little teary eyed because i've been a fan of exo since 2016 just before kpop blew globally. to this day, they are the only artists that can get me out of a slump. they inspire me and i have such love and respect for them. it was so cool watching to see their timeline and how much of it i've experienced with them. i have such a special place in my heart for them.

Constructive critism: Chen's section deserved a lot more than you gave him. What his April and a Flower album did and the records it broke, specifically Beautiful Goodbye, should've been explored A LOT more. You kinda brushed over him when he's top 3 most decorative members of the group.

second comment but: I just want to reiterate how good their vocals are, because that's what caught me first (apart from Lay at MET Gala), I started listening to Love Shot album and Tempo just caught me.
Also, to add to Baekhyun singing the national anthem at the Olympics: EXO as a group of 8 performed at the closing ceremony and Kai opened the performance with a traditional dance!
Furthermore - and this is just a personal note - Kai, Chen and Suho all went to be part of festivals in Europe and I'm very happy about it cause I really wanted to see my boys up close lol
