I bought the RTV-X1140 and one of the first things I added to it was the steel roof and the GLASS windshield, and I have to admit that it was one of my better upgrades!
It helps keep the cold and wet off of you, but it is GREAT in keeping those spider webs out of your face in the fall of the year!!!

I made a mistake buying my Sidekick. It has a serious gas contamination in the crankcase oil. Was in the shop 10 weeks last summer at 20 hours with about 12 oz of gas mixed with the oil and Kubota says it is normal for this engine. I have emails from others with similar issues and Kubota doesn't care. That's probably why you see so many low hour used ones for sale. I definitely tell people not to even consider one at this point.

I use a product called Plexus on my polycarbon windshield. It's was developed for the use in aviation. Not cheap but a great product. I have been using it for years .

Never use windex on polycarbonate windshields. Overtime, the polycarbonate will get micro cracks, which disperses light through it, making it harder to see. My experience is with helicopters and polycarbonate windshields. You can use regular dawn dish soap and a microfiber cloth to wash it. Then rinse with water. Avoid anything with alcohol or ammonia on polycarbonate.
Rain-X does may a solution specifically for plastic windshields and headlight covers.

Lucas: make sure you put the cloth in a zip lock bag. If you get dust on it you are going to scratch the window. Also do not use bug spray anywhere near it. I put a windshield on my CanAm because it gets cold and snowy up here. Enjoy the ride. Take care and stay safe. PS: my BX23S and snow blower are getting a workout with the snow here.

Good thought! I never knew bug spray could be an issues. Good to know. We may have some snow coming our way soon. We definitely have cold coming! Stay warm up there!

Worked in aviation for many years. Someone here mentioned plexus and they were 100 % correct. The inexpensive alternative and just as effective is pledge furniture polish.

Lucas, I’ve been a private pilot since 05. What I Learned is always try to rinse them off first, then clean them up and down. Never in a circular motion. They make some great plastic polishes out there, and If I do my windows once a year on my plane with the polish, it really makes them look new.

RainX plastic, works great for the polycarbonate windshields. I also carry a spray bottle with water and a small squigee with me.

Good purchase! It’s a work’n machine. I’ve got the older version, I think a 2012, 5:29 diesel. The windshield is a must in winter, nice to remove for summer dust because the windshield causes the dust to back draft into cab area.

Good morning Lucas. I did even worse than you when I bought my first SXS. I went without a front windshield and without a roof. Oooops. Live and learn. Thanks for the continued great content. -Tod

The quick disconnect on the windshield will serve you very well - Anytime you are thinking about not spending the little extra on a necessity you can quickly remove the windshield and drive around in the rain just to remind yourself.😇 The road to redemption begins with self-reflection!

My polycarbonate windshield with scratch-resistance treatment from SuperATV includes cleaning instructions that caution against using window cleaning fluids (Windex, 409, etc.) or solvents and discourages use of Rain-X or any other waxes or polishes. After rinsing thoroughly, using that microfiber cloth clean with warm water and a gentle detergent, followed by drying with a chamois. I made the mistake of using a vinegar based window cleaner on another SxS and ended up with significant crazing of the surface, to the extent that it was very difficult to see through if heading toward the sun. Enjoy your cabin!

    Don’t feel bad Lucas.
I was given the chance to have the 3rd function when I bought my L2501 Kubota. I was even asked twice.
I found a way around the 3rd function later when I did get my grapple.
    Hindsight is 20 / 20

I never take mine off here on the farm, you will greatly appreciate the windshield, another quick add for me was rear side mirrors, I got the fold back version if they get hit. WOW a HUGE difference backing it up especially into the barn or loading, no more twisted neck and on the farm you learn mirror use right away.

Try Cooter Browns polycarb windshield cleaner from Extreme Metal Products (item #13946). My Sidekick windshield is 3 years old and in great shape. I hose or pressure wash the windshield and then apply Cooters with a microfiber and it still looks great...only a few nicks where tree braces have slapped the windshield.

We have one of those old windshields on the Polaris lol. It sure was fun to drive this past deer season when the ice was covering the windshield. Not much fun hanging your head out the window at 5am trying to get to where you hunt. This looks like it would do the job much better!

We made the same "frugality" mistake on our Kawasaki Mule about 3 years ago. One of these days I may bite the bullet and install a windshield 'cause it sure does get cold in the winter in a hurry! Keep up the good work! As an aside, we're down in northern Alamance Co on about 23 acres. Dad's family is from Yadkin Co. Found your channel by researching pond builds. Ours got finished up recently and with all of the rain we've been having it's filling up in a hurry. Looking for advice on stocking ponds if you take a notion later this Spring....

Awesome! Congratulations on the pond! Great addition to any property! I think a stocking video is a great idea. I will try to do that.

Good morning Lucas, watching this video, I think I would have made the same choices you made, not getting the windshield, trying it out and then getting the windshield. It looks like it would be easy to take off, in the summer, if you choose to. Enjoy your hamburgers, Ben 👍

Take a picture of how clear that "plastic" windshield is, gotta feeling in a month, might not be so clear. No wipers$, try driving a car without using your wipers. I think they're still laughing 🤣 probably better off with greenhouse shade cloth for wind protection, blocks the wind and won't scratch, and alot cheaper. Great video, thanks for sharing 👍
