My best friend since we were 12 years old and I'm now 63 became entangled in all this conspiracies rabbit hole a few years back. It got to the extent he was telling me the Earth wasn't round but flat and the moon a man-made construct to fool us etc etc. For years I put up with it and just would smile and nod in sort of agreement. Then one day, I said, I don't want to keep having these conversations about all these conspiracies when we meet, how about leaving that to the young folk and we just get on with our retirement and talk about the things we always talked about before, mathematics, physics and computer software engineering, which we both loved. Next day he wiped me. Never seen nor heard from him since. Very sad.

That is very sad. Sorry to hear. I had a long-term friend who I thought was intelligent and he got into Alex Jones and Trump. He stopped talking to everybody and went conspiracy nuts. Saw conspiracies everywhere, the whole nine yards. He died alone a few years ago. Very sad indeed.

Alex Jones' approach is shout every crazy idea as loud as possible, as frequently as possible, because eventually some of those things are true, and then he draws a circle around those correct accusations/assumptions and calls himself a prophet - "See, I was right!" @@Robutube1 I have met some incredibly rich people in my life. One thing they ALL have in common is, they don't have enough money. The concept of "enough money" is alien to them. Even the nice ones.
Brian May is one of the nicest, kindest people you could ever wish to meet. Have you seen the toe-curlingly dreadful We Will Rock You musical? Did you watch that appallingly revisionist biopic? He was rich beyond most people's wildest dreams before they existed. He had more money than anyone could ever need or spend in one life time, and was still cleaning up on back catalogue royalties. He could have sat back and enjoyed a semi-retirement of blissful contentment as a total legend, without diminishing his band's legacy with every new cash grab scheme that was pitched to him, but no. It's never enough.
