My best friend since we were 12 years old and I'm now 63 became entangled in all this conspiracies rabbit hole a few years back. It got to the extent he was telling me the Earth wasn't round but flat and the moon a man-made construct to fool us etc etc. For years I put up with it and just would smile and nod in sort of agreement. Then one day, I said, I don't want to keep having these conversations about all these conspiracies when we meet, how about leaving that to the young folk and we just get on with our retirement and talk about the things we always talked about before, mathematics, physics and computer software engineering, which we both loved. Next day he wiped me. Never seen nor heard from him since. Very sad.
That is very sad. Sorry to hear. I had a long-term friend who I thought was intelligent and he got into Alex Jones and Trump. He stopped talking to everybody and went conspiracy nuts. Saw conspiracies everywhere, the whole nine yards. He died alone a few years ago. Very sad indeed.
That's sad and speaks to this mind cancer. Seen a few go, thankfully nobody too close yet. A couple of old school associates etc, end up just blocking people if they disagree.
Danny is one of those people I don't follow directly but pops up in many places I explore and I have to say, it's always a pleasure to see him pop up and hear him talk
Great witty interview. French here. I had no idea who Danny Wallace is & i'm done with paying attention to conspiracy theorists but somehow, I stayed glued to the end!
Brilliant episode. It's been too long since we've had doses of Danny's take on life on the TV. His books are great too. Come on DW, pitch for some more TV work, to get the nation laughing!

Alex Jones' approach is shout every crazy idea as loud as possible, as frequently as possible, because eventually some of those things are true, and then he draws a circle around those correct accusations/assumptions and calls himself a prophet - "See, I was right!" I’ve just realised, Danny Wallace used to live on Richmond Terrace in Dundee next door to my lifelong friend. Must be 40+ years ago. Danny was just a kid, maybe 8, we must have been about 20 or so. Funny old world, isn’t it? PS. His mum, Trudy (?) was really pretty, all us lads thought so. 😂
I too thought America was the best place in the world for sweets and toys and stuff, you're allowed to think that when you're a kid. If you still think that as an adult, somethings gone wrong in your life. Unless of course you're extremely rich.

Same. Especially in that Braveheart. Inspirational

Having not read his book, I'm so confused. Why would the east Germans be so interested in his father?
