- How to Get A Rugby Player’s Physique: Part 1 - THE SHOULDERS!
Welcome to this new series where I’ll be breaking down some key exercises and ideas around building a “rugby physique”. This channel is dedicated to rugby training and S&C, so be sure to check out all my videos and get to work - it won’t happen overnight!!!
The Push Press features in a lot of my videos - because (as I mention in the video) it ticks a lot of boxes. It’s a VERTICAL pushing pattern of course, not horizontal. But I’m sure you figured that out/ spotted that.

Of course, the push press is a great vertical pressing option (not horizontal, obviously).
Definitely should be a staple in your programme year round unless you’re lacking the ROM in the shoulder joint.
Please do one for arms , chest , back , and legs i cant wait for more videos like this am soo interested🦾
Next one in the series will be all about the legs 🙌

You’re welcome - glad you enjoyed it.
Great video of a great series of a videos of a great coach!!!
Is this (and the others) also applicable to an Old player or he needs escalation and/or different exercises??
Thanks so much!!!
Glad you enjoyed it buddy. Absolutely, regressions and progressions necessary based on individual needs (of which training age would be one).

Top stuff! Deffs subbing for more
Great! The next video in this series will be out on Sunday and we’ll be looking at the lower body.
Always wanted this!
I’m happy if it’s helped 🙌
Step one be Samoan
🤣🤣🤣. It’s true, they produce some great rugby players! But so does every nation 💪
😂😂😂
Why is there no deadlifts? Or is this just all isolation?
Im short 5'7 😅 can i consider this 😔
Don’t limit yourself! Our scrum half is 5’7 and he’s a beast: fast, fit, and strong! He push press 90kg, bench presses 125kg, trap bar 180kg, has a 1.65s 10m time and runs a Bronco in 4:45s!
Work hard and get after it 💪
You're gonna be a beast at that height
great video Coach!
Thanks mate 🙌
