My dad used to say “they are not making more land so buy as much as you can”. Sound advice. Looks like a diamond in the rough.

That's something I could do every day all day is take down some brush. When we had our 10 acres all I had was an old Ford jubilee and a brush hog. Had the time of my life clearing our way in. I started to do it for a living and my tractor went down on me and that was that. I haven't been able to get another piece of equipment and things just haven't been real bright for a while. But I do miss it. One of these days I'll be able to get back to it. Looks like a good purchase, I'm sure you will turn it into an amazing place. Congratulations.

Went down,as in an accident, or broke down? Hope you werent hurt!

    • @Sleekfalcon
      @Sleekfalcon ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@cathiwim broke down. The only time I'd say I got hurt was either thorns or the time I mowed over an underground hornet nest. Talk about a time to bail and run lol. I play it as safe as I can when using any equipment. Even more so if I don't own it. Thanks for asking, sorry I didn't clarify.

Really not a bad purchase at all. Just a little tip. When using a brush hog on the front of that CTL in overgrown weeds like that it always helps out tremendously to take the first path with the brush hog tilted up a couple feet off the ground. Then go back for your final pass. But that is a lot of work. And again great investment on the net worth of Dirt Perfect. Farm work/dirt work/mowing just kinda centers me. I love it. Great video nice camera angles and the sound of the jake brake is always a nice touch lol😊

Here's one for the team. I'm going to bite on the comment generator! You never mentioned it, but I know you contacted the "Call before You Dig" folks! Up here most of the utilities are just inches from the edge up the road, but I have a phone line underground that's 30 ft from the edge of the road in one section, along a farm field. A neighbor asked me to bury a horse for them, with the CASE 480 backhoe. I said, "Yes, but not until I mark the spot and call the locators. "There's nothing here! Go ahead and dig." "Nope, not until they come and check." Well, there was a 2 inch medium pressure gas line right where the wanted me to bury the horse! So, I never dig until I call. Great Video and Congrats on the new farm and the much needed rood space! Thanks, Mike & Aaron! Lee

Lol😊 I have 1.6 acres and a barn in the very back that someone ran power underground to. I've never been able to trace it and I know where it is.
I decided to dig a hole to plant an apple tree with my backhoe and of course, with all the area the line could have been, it was under that spot.
Broke the line and had to do a repair to withstand underground direct burial.
I add a plastic utility type box to access it in the future if needed.
Always good to know what's running underground.

Very smart purchase, Mike. My favorite series of videos. Taking a chunk of coal and presto, a diamond. Good black dirt for farm ground, more cash rent from Farmer Chris. More storage, income, many videos, all pluses. I love seeing something bad turned into something amazing. You do that every video, but this will be the culmination of all those things. The intangibles, youtube videos help pay for it AND the value of the land doubles after you clear it and clean it. I suggested this farm situation purchase a year ago, glad you were listening. I have a feeling there will be another one in the future. In 20 years, you will be super happy that you bought every farm, assets on the balance sheet and retirement income. Great job Mike.

What you got your self into was buying overgrown land cheap...so later you can sell it for very high dollars. In the interim you can have someone farm the land. That's a great plan to make yourself and your family richer. You are buying land for pennies that you will later sell for dollare. Great job...its the American way!.

Then a good offset disc and a drag harrow make pretty work to bring back the new ground. Curious to know what's in plans to plant or intent of using the farm for?? Congrats. A great day for the scrap book.
When my kids were young I bought the house next door to get the garden.
Our playroom was built up against the overgrown side wall near the end of its garden. As we had a long 4 month close on it, I sneaked in and dismantled a door size hole in the wall behind the bushes where no one could see. Then I consaw-ed through our wall. Next I got an old large wardrobe and screwed it to the inside of our wall. Took the back of it and lined the way through and put mini barn doors on the other side of old timber as it was near invisible in the garden. For one summer we had Narnia in a wardrobe as very few people knew I had bought it.
Hope you all have great adventures there.

we got a DR mower with the government checks issued at the beginning of covid, since we had just purchased an overgrown property that had sat for over 20 years. that sucker is tough, mowing down 6ft briar bushes and small trees.. the corner owner had pitched broken things out the door, so i hit sink faucets and tons of other debris. we final got it all cleaned up, and hauled 3 loads of scrap metal to the recycle yard.

The farm we bought was just like that one. My brother in law bought a 650 JD 2 WD with turf tires and a 5 foot bush hog that was good on dry dirt but any wet areas and it was stuck. I then got a Yanmar4220 4WD with R1 tires and a 6 foot BH. I mowed down up to 4" trees, basically anything I could ride over with the 4220 FEL, I could chop up. We took out almost all of the pine trees and sweet gum that was covering every thing and turned it into pasture land. That was 13 years ago and now everyone comments about how beautiful the place is.

We run 5 different styles of cutter heads between the loader, Skid steer, and excavators and for the type of material you are cutting the bush hog style on the skid steer just like you are using is the one we would choose. It seems to cut a bit quicker, maybe not as fine of mulch in the end but that is probably not an issue in your situation. looks great, so satisfying to look at the before and after on a job like this.

We didn't have Hyundai skid steers in my time Mike but I would like to get behind the controls of one. That smaller machine seems to handle the brush-hog nicely without any trouble and the drone footage gave us the view of how nice your property is. Good video guys. 👌

My favorite thing to wear when dealing with briars is the old BDUs. Between the thickness and the ripstop of the fabric they work great. I hope ya'll were wearing tick repellent - I know you don't have a lot of lyme there but you do have some and there are other things those critters carry. I've been disabled because of lyme since I was 12 years old - 27 years ago. Great video as always Mike!

Doctor thats an expert straight up told me thats a issue specifically in very rare spots on the east coast only and that people should not worry about it.

@@pilsplease7561 Doctor is full of shit. There are higher levels of it in the north east coast but people in every state except alaska and hawaii have contracted it. I've got a friend in california who never left the state and contracted lyme and when she went to get checked they refused to do a lyme test because it doesn't exist in that state.

You will need a tarmac road laying and yellow lines putting on it to make it a safer entrance in stead of getting stuck in the mud see sense please it's also health and safety in the UK

I bet that slip clutch was begging for mercy by the time you were done.😀
Mowed through some stuff like that before with an old Farmall and pull behind brush cutter. At least it was a taller to get out of the some of the briars, PTO was a bit dangerous tho. Lookin' good, so far & look forward to seeing the progress.

Congrats Mike, you can make this work, just takes patience; you have the equipment and skills. The river is what makes this so desirable..Good luck and persevere.

That scene of the break through reminded me of all those films I've seen of TBMs breaking through to connect the tunnels.

Best advice I’ve ever gotten was buy land! Gods not making any more ! Was told that many years ago when I was spending $ $50,000 a year drag racing and investing in cars and 4 wheel drive trucks! While it took me years to fully understand what it meant I’m grateful nonetheless for the lessons!

In Alabama and Thank you guys for the memories, my hubby was a truck driver and ran a backhoe doing railroad work for local company for 40 years before he passed away in 2018. I got to run with him and drive a little, and you guys with your loading, unloading and taking out the bushes & undergrowth remindered me just how much FUN, even if it was work we shared...watching you was a treat for me this morning....so Thank U...❤

This brings back some nightmares .
When someone wants to know why they should get a tractor with a cab for bush hogging , I will show them this video from now on .
That is an unholy mess for sure .
