to the people in the comment saying this isn't ASMR: ASMR is the sensation that sounds may cause, it's in your brain so what certain people tingle to will be different. It doesn't have to feature whispering, tapping noises or eating sounds to be ASMR. This is soft-spoken, it's relaxing, has great audio quality and it may count as ASMR by those that get voice tingles or just flat out use these videos for relaxation. Please don't be gate keepers, you're not the only one whose opinion matters.
wow I expressed my opinion in the nicest way possible and it was so clearly *my* opinion, literally why I wrote a comment is because it is *my* experience! My comment was so appreciative of this series and I only said "this doesn't really strike me as being ASMR-provoking" I'm surprised it came across as so triggering?
Exactly! I just think if this was made to be asmr, then they could minimize the harsh sounds in the bg. Just because they're doing and titleing it intentionally.
It’s a little funny seeing a theatre costume being handled with such caution. I know for sure it wasn’t treated quite that delicately when it was part of an active production 😄
As well as being designed by Tim Goodchild as credited at the end, the costume was made by Susanna Wilson - the whole costume not just the tabard. Some of the materials came from the shop Continental Trimmings in Manchester. Both Tim and Susanna are very much still around btw.
How do you get started working in conservation and restoration? This is my number one dream job but I have no idea where to begin. I do careful tasks like this all the time in every job I’ve had and even in my daily life. It would be a dream come true to be able to work in this field.
You can find out more about the costume in our object record: collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O1262069/tabard-worn-by-ian-mckellen-theatre-costume-goodchild-tim/
@@vamuseum Thank you so very much. I've visited your costume collection and been a monstrous fan of it. I worked in theatre costuming for a career and am now retired.
I have a unique costume made for me by Veronica de Hambleton when I was pretending to be someone in play, back in 1966. I forget who. I wonder if the V and A would like that.
I agree. I love these videos but the industrial noises in the background are pretty frustrating. Just susana, the textiles, and her restoration would be perfect.
I actually disagree, I liked the background noises they made it feel more natural and immersive. ASMR doesn't have a "purpose", it's just a response some people have to some things. The purpose of ASMR videos is to trigger that response, and what works for some people doesn't work for others. It worked for me, and no purpose was defeated.
Nice but (1) I really wish this was longer and (2) that there was less background noise - this doesn't really strike me as being ASMR-provoking... But love her voice and love this series :)
I agree - must be difficult to try and record ASMR in a working environment! Maybe they could film the shots of conservators working on the garments and then separately record the conservator's voice over in a soundproof room
Hi. I just wanted to say I understand where you are coming from with your second comment, but: ASMR is a term for a set of reactions to a wide range of sensory stimuli which differ from one person to the next. So while you can say whatever you want about how this makes *you* feel, to categorize it as not «really» ASMR can easily come across as a form of gatekeeping. Just remember that your personal experience is not the definition of ASMR. :)
@@draculiya Hey thanks for your comment! I definitely think you're right, I really agree that I misused the term so apologies - I think what I *meant* to say is that I wasn't *personally* able to have an ASMR experience from this video as I found all the noises overwhelming and contrasting, which I had never heard before... I hope other people were able to have their own experience from it
My only complaint about these videos is they need to be longer!!!
Absolutely! I would be so excited if they made a longer video!
And purchasable on dvd
I completely agree.
I beg

Thank you for including a pic of Sir Ian wearing the costume.
It really brings the tabard to life, doesn't it!
It’s a little funny seeing a theatre costume being handled with such caution. I know for sure it wasn’t treated quite that delicately when it was part of an active production 😄
Hence why it needs to be preserved and handled carefully, so it does not incur further damage.
Agreed 100% trash. No one in theater is concerned about the longevity of what they're wearing
I would love to see Ian McKellen react to this.
I imagine "I'm too young to have my clothing in a museum!" or "Yes, like a King, my robes should be preserved for all time!"
Thanks for your love and support, I really do appreciate. 💙💙💙
Am I the only one that’s excited about the fact that this is Ian McKellen’s costume?! He’s such a great actor!
Susana has truly become an icon on this channel, I adore her :)
This is wonderful, and I love hearing Susana discuss how to handle textiles.
I love her voice and accent!
Please allow this woman to do more ASMR videos with quiet talking you would make an absolute fortune it’s amazing
Wonderful video, and I love Susana Fajardo's voice! Please make more of these videos! :-)
More to come!
@@vamuseum Thank you, you just made my day! :-)
1: There are some very talented and patient people in this world.

These asmr videos are top tier
I absolutely love these. I hope more are on the way.
This is truly amazing at the intricate work on costumes to preserve them for years to come for other generations.

I really would love to visit this museum. I find it fascinating. The videos should be longer.
Love the sound of the washing machine in the background!👍🏻
Longer please and show some before and after of the details of the preserved item
She threaded that needle like a boss
I feel so sleepy now hehe
These videos are awesome ❤️
MORE LONGUER !!!!!!
PLEASE !!!!!
Longer videos pleeeeeeease
Who was the costume designer? What shop built it and the date?
You could look up which production Ian McKellan was in. I'm sure that would help you find the information.
It's in the credits at the end of the video: Designed by Tim Goodchild in 1968.

God, how do I get Bernadette Banner to see this? I couldn't stop thinking about her through this whole video :')
So incredibly short unfortunately

I love these videos but I genuinely don’t understand how you allow others in the background making noise. It defeats the purpose of ASMR.
