My father worked on one of these rides in his late teens and became good friends with the owner. Whenever they came to town I remember as a 6-8 yr old having great fun jumping on and of the ride whilst in motion with the owners son. Then watching the older kids trying the same only to see them go flying on the arse and the girls they were trying to impress laughing their tits off at the idiots. The owners son taught me how to do handstands whilst the ride was at full speed. Not many people get invited into the ride owners trailer but we regularly were for meals and a good old chat.
Can remember this ride when it use to come to the Bridgwater fair in Somerset. Always enjoyed riding on this machine!
