I love this idea so much that I want to do a big book each month this summer. I’m planning on Jurassic Park for June, Mansfield Park for July, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for August. Many of the other booktubers I follow mentioned your challenge. So happy to find your channel!

❤📚❤️ Hi Sue, I just found your channel after hearing other channels talk about your Big Book Summer! I am reading Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens. I'm loving it so far! *Subscribed! Edit: LOVE the Outlander Series!! I flew through them!

Hi, I've just joined over on Goodreads, and now following you on TH-cam. Fabulous idea and no idea how I've missed it over the years of following booktube. I have 6 new big books to read this summer. I've listed them on Goodreads. I also have a chronic illness Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, which at 73 is most boring and most unpleasant. Reading is my main escape. So glad you popped up on my TH-cam feed. Julie x
Welcome to Big Book Summer, Julie! To be fair, I've only been on Booktube for 3 years - prior to that, I only hosted Big Book Summer from my blog. I'll take a peek at your posts in the Goodreads group :) And you've REALLY come to the right place - I not only post videos about books but also about living with chronic illness! I also have ME/CFS (22 years now - I'm 58), as well as Lyme disease, and both of my sons also got ME/CFS at ages 6 and 10 (the younger one fully recovered; the older still has it, plus 3 tick infections but is doing well and about to start a full-time job!). So, be sure to also check out my chronic illness videos - there's a whole playlist. I think you would be especially interested in the videos about treatments that have helped us to function so well - correcting sleep dysfunction, diagnosing and treating Orthostatic Intolerance (OI), plus my more recent chronic illness vlogs all about diagnosing and treating thyroid dysfunction and yeast overgrowth (2 biggies for those of us with CFS). Welcome and pleas let me know if you have any questions. So sorry you are also living a life with chronic illness, but I'm glad you found me!
I’d love to read The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher. Lonesome Dove and Dragonfly in Amber are also on my list. So much to read! Thank you for your suggestions!
Wonderful, Cheryl - sounds like some good plans. I've heard such great things about Rosamund Pilcher (and especially The Shell Seekers) but haven't read her yet. Be sure to join the Goodreads group (at the link in the notes) to officially join the challenge - then you can chat about Big Books all season with other readers, see what everyone else is reading, and you'll be entered to win the end of season giveaway drawing. And since so many people said they'd also be reading Lonesome Dove, I made it our official Big Book Summer readalong and set up discussion threads in the Goodreads group for it! Enjoy your Big Books!
Hey, Sue - will definitely mention this on my channel and will check out your blog. Not sure what i'll read, but i' m sure some of them are 400+....thanks!
Wonderful! Glad you're going to join the fun :) When you talk about Big Book Summer in a video, be sure to add your link to the links list on the challenge page on my blog (linked in the notes above) - - that will help others find your channel, plus I'll share it on social media, AND you'll be entered in the end of summer giveaway drawing! You can also join the Goodreads group if you want to, to share your video link, see what everyone else is reading, and enjoy some Big Book chat all summer!
Wow! I am so surprisedthat I have never heard of the challenge. I am excited to give it a try and will share this with my book club. I dont think any of them have heard of this challenge either. Thanks for the inspiration.
So glad you discovered it this year! Are you Susie Q on Goodreads? If so, I saw your post this weekend :) Glad you decided to join the fun! And thanks for spreading the word!
Such a fun summer challenge! I have a few contenders starting with Lonesome Dove ! Almost half done and don’t want it to end ! Great list of your pop’s !
Glad to hear you're also enjoying Lonesome Dove! I heard about this challenge on Jen's Reading Life. I will definitely give this a go. I think Mitzi also has a video about this - I will go look at hers also.

Yes, Mitzi and Jen are both participating :) Be sure to join the Goodreads group (at the link in the notes) to officially join the challenge - then you can chat about Big Books all season with other readers, see what everyone else is reading, and you'll be entered to win the end of season giveaway drawing. Enjoy your Big Book(s)!
Thanks for this fun challenge! I’m reading David Copperfield, Praiseworthy by Alexis Wright and The Will of the Many by James Islington. 😊 it’ll be a Big Book Winter for me ! 😊
Sounds like a great plan, Lee! I read David Copperfield a few summers ago - love Dickens! And my son is reading an Islington novel right now (An Echo of Things to Come, #2 in the Licanius trilogy). Be sure to join the Goodreads group (at the link in the notes) to officially join the challenge - then you can chat about Big Books all season with other readers, see what everyone else is reading, and you'll be entered to win the end of season giveaway drawing. Enjoy your Big Books!
I have been participating without knowing I was participating, Sue! 😂 Most books I read are over 400 pages, so I will definitely participate again and I'll make sure to mention it in my videos now.
This month I have Well of Ascension (650?), The Doomsday Book (700?), The Fox Wife ( 400?), and Beyond by Lackey (400?) I don't know about July or August yet!
Sounds like some great plans! You'll get to enjoy fun book chat all summer and will be eligible for the end of summer giveaway drawing :) Welcome to Big Book Summer!
Since so many people said they'd also be reading Lonesome Dove, I made it our official Big Book Summer readalong and set up discussion threads in the Goodreads group for it!
I’m so excited to hear about this challenge! I look forward to participating for the first time. The heat of summer affects my chronic illnesses (EDS, POTS, MCAS) as well, especially with all the rain we’ve been having. I hope this summer won’t be too rough on you.
Welcome, Tahlia - you've REALLY come to the right place! I have ME/CFS with POTS, NMH, and MCAS. Besides my book videos, I also make videos about these illnesses, so you might want to check those out. When you talk about Big Book Summer in a video, be sure to add your link to the links list on the challenge page on my blog (linked in the notes above) - - that will help others find your channel, plus I'll share it on social media, AND you'll be entered in the end of summer giveaway drawing! @@SueJacksonDE I'll definitely have to check out your videos on chronic illnesses as well! I'm actually surprised that there are not more us with chronic illnesses in the booktube community, like there is in the yarntube community. Both reading and knitting/crocheting take approximately the same amount of focus, time, and energy, in my experience (unless I am designing a knitting or crocheting pattern). Maybe there are more people with chronic illnesses on booktube than I realize, and I just haven't run into them yet. I have to be judicious with my intake of booktube videos; between the recommended books on other peoples' channels and the dratted bibliographies/footnotes in books I read, my near non-existent self-control when it comes to buying books gets sorely tested. At this point, my books and yarn is graciously making space for me in my home, rather than the other way around... Thanks for the info for the challenge! I have added my booktube video link to the challenge page of your blog, and have joined the Goodreads group as well. Do you mind if I create a StoryGraph challenge for Big Book Summer Challenge? I feel like StoryGraph sets up their challenges in such a motivational way, by making it quite easy to see how many books you have added to each individual challenge. If you would prefer not to have a StoryGraph challenge set up, I will definitely respect that; this challenge is your baby. So I'll wait until I hear back from you before I do anything on that front. ❤ Thanks for the kind welcome and the fun challenge!
@@tahlia__nerds_out I've actually run into quite a few Booktubers with similar chronic illnesses - in May, I discovered the Spoonie Readathon! I did a video about it. Hosted by Booktubers with illnesses/disabilities. And I recently "met" MicheleLynnReads, who has ME/CFS and some of the other co-morbidities we share. I agree - reading is a great hobby when chronically ill and with limited energy. Though I know some with ME/CFS lose the ability to read due to cognitive dysfunction - so sad. I try to help them by suggesting audios, middle-grade books, graphic novels, etc. So nice to meet you! Oh, and sure, feel free to set up a BIg Book Summer group on Storygraph - others have asked me about that. I'm not on it yet, but leave me the link if you do :)
@@SueJacksonDE I missed the Spoonie Readathon? Ah, maaaaaannnn...... Well, now that I'm following you, I'll be able to see if/when you join in next year. I mostly follow other people who tend to read history books, so maybe that's how I've missed the chronic illness side of booktube. Chronic fatigue, overstimulation, and light sensitivity can make it challenging to find time for both reading and keeping up with watching booktube, so that probably has also contributed to me finding people. Thanks for giving me MicheleLynnReads' name; I have now subscribed to her channel. Oh, it would be so tragic to lose the ability to focus on reading at all! Those are all great suggestions that you have given, though; I hope that they have helped some people who wouldn't have otherwise been able to continue to read! I'll set up that challenge on StoryGraph, then, and I'll get the link to you when the challenge is up! Thanks! God Bless...
@@tahlia__nerds_out It's been amazing to me how many Booktubers have chronic illnesses behind the scenes! I hear you on trying to keep up with everything!
How exciting! I found you through another booktube channel, Noteworthy Fiction. I definitely have some big books planned so I'll go compile and tally them up now and do a video and registration etc. Lonesome Dove is an amazing book! I actually read it last summer, so I guess I participated without knowing it 😁It was my favourite book of the year, and has entered into my all-time favourites. Couldn't recommend it more!
Wow, thanks for the wonderful recs! I am very much enjoying Lonesome Dove so far. Hi Sue. I'm definitely participating. First up, I'll be re-reading ULYSSES in the read-along of that novel. This will definitely count. I have a buddy read of The Passage coming up too, so that will be another big book, for sure. More to come!
Wonderful, Pat! Glad you'll be joining the fun :) Wow, re-reading Ulysses - I'm impressed. I really need to finally tackle it one of these days. The Passage is outstanding - I think I mentioned it here that I read it during my own first Big Book Summer that inspired the challenge. The whole trilogy is great. Once you have a video where you talk about Big Book Summer, be sure to visit the challenge page on my blog to leave your video link in the Sign-Up links list - then, others can find your video/channel, I will share your video across social media, and you'll be entered for the end of summer giveaway drawing!

I just discovered your channel and this challenge and I will definitely participate this summer! I have a number of books in my summer possibility pile that are over 500 pages. And I’ll be sure to mention the challenge in my upcoming video!
Wonderful, Jen! Remember to link up your video on my blog's Big Book Summer Challenge page - then other readers will be able to find your channel AND you'll be entered for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing. I can't wait to see what Big Book(s) you plan to read!
After just reading Fourth Wing and sequel Iron Flame I’m not sure I am ready for another big book! lol Both of those are big books! But I’m looking at my stash! I love a challenge! Lol
If you find other Big Books to tackle (you have the whole summer!), be sure to join the Goodreads group (at the link in the notes) to officially join the challenge - then you can chat about Big Books all season with other readers, see what everyone else is reading, and you'll be entered to win the end of season giveaway drawing.

Hi Sue, I’m new here and have subscribed! I will participate! White Teeth and Lonesome Dove are both staring me down from my bookshelf sooooo I will read Lonesome Dove then White Teeth! I like to read a few books at a time and will focus on these two! 🇨🇦📚🌸
Wonderful, Carol! I started Lonesome Dove last week and am loving it so far. And, since so many other people said they were also reading it, I made it the official readalong book for this summer and added discussion threads on it. Although we don't have the four seasons here in Nigeria, i love tolive them vicariously through you all😭😭😭So I'd very much like to participate in this wonderful tag. Will definitely tag you when i make a video.

Oh my goodness!!! I just found your channel and I am sold! Even though I have made my TBR for June, I am pulling books for summer-well, this challenge, that could be my possibilities. I will add my link once I post my video on TH-cam.
A couple summers ago, i read a book by Margaret George, "Cleopatra." A big book. It really took me all summer. When i finished it, i really missed her! That will be a re-read for me some day. A few of your selections for summer reading are in my TBR pile. Lately, i have been reading fantasy (big books too). I used to think fantasy was too young for me (im 64), but there have been so many fantastic fantasy books! I do alot of immersion reading (book/audio) and that helps with big books, and i fly right through them!
That sounds like a great way to tackle a Big Book, Lori. Glad to hear you're enjoying fantasy - that's my son's favorite genre. He just gobbles up epic fantasy novels - the bigger, the better!
Just found your TH-cam Channel. I plan to read "Mad Honey" by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan, "11/22/63" by Stephen King, and "Covenant of Water". Happy Reading!!
Welcome, Carol! 11/22/63 is one of my favorites!! And I really want to read Mad Honey because I love both of its authors. Be sure to join the Goodreads group so you can participate in all the Big Book chat this summer (and that makes you eligible for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing!). Just leave a quick note in the Sign-Up thread and then post about the books you choose in the What Big Book Are You Reading? thread.
I’m about halfway through with Lonesome Dove and it is sooooo good. It also reads quickly so despite its length, i think you will get through it faster than you think. Great challenge and great list.
@@terrihoskinson I’m reading it with our local independent bookstore podcast “From the Front Porch”. They do a “conquer a classic” challenge each year that spans about 10 months. This is the first time I’ve struggled to stay within the month’s schedule. It’s such a readable and engaging book that I want to keep going.
Since so many people said they'd also be reading Lonesome Dove, I made it our official Big Book Summer readalong and set up discussion threads in the Goodreads group for it!
I can definitely hear the birds! And yes, I was one of those people wondering if Big Book Summer was starting over Memorial Day weekend. I am, of course, in again for the 12th year. (12 years!!!) My understanding is that Kazen from Always Doing created the "pile of possibilities" term. I know that The Overstory by Richard Powers and Aperigon by Colum McCann will be in my Big Book pile -- among several others TBD!
Wonderful, Melissa! I can't wait to see what you read this summer :) You've been with me in this since the beginning! I read The Overstory a few summers ago - a beautiful novel and perfect for summer.
Hi Suzan! This is my first year of joining the challenge. I confess, I tend to avoid long books even though I really want to read them. Or to have read them?!! I'm starting with Lonesome Dove, which I've always wanted to read. I'm at 10%. We'll see how long that takes, since I plan to continue reading other books in my TBR. But if I finish that in good time, I'm considering Trust by Hernan Diaz. I remember him from Booktopia and shared a table with him at one of the events.
Hi, Toni - I saw your post on Instagram, too. Welcome to Big Book Summer! And are you Antonia on Goodreads? I'm guessing that's you - glad you found the group :) And you've been to Booktopia! Wonderful - isn't it an amazing event? Trust is on my stack for this summer, too.
@@toniclarktube Wonderful!! Same here - everyone calls me Sue but I use Suzan for writing ad on my books because Sue Jackson is so generic - ha ha Congrats on your books!
@@SueJacksonDE I should have noted that it's through Karen King Seaman (a Booktopia and travel buddy) that I found my way to the Challenge. Tom (my husband) and I visited Karen and Wayne at their home in New Hampshire in mid-May. We'll be meeting up with them in Sicily in October.
@@toniclarktube Oh! I know Karen well from Booktopia :) Always a pleasure to see her. And I love following all her amazing travels on Facebook - enjoy the trip!
I just finished this phenomenal new book of fairy tales entitled Sillies, Fancies, and Trifles - it was phenomenal and I think you'd love it. It would go with the lovely recommendations here. Keep up the beautiful videos :)
Congrats on 1K subscribers! On your husband's list I saw 'Catch-22.' I have it on my bookshelf. Yes, I am doing The Big Book Summer Challenge. I want to read 'Rebecca,' which is about 410 pages.
Thanks! I was shocked this weekend - I guess Big Book Summer propelled my subscriber count forward :) I read Catch-22 a few years ago for Big Book Summer, and yes, it's on my husband's stack for this year. I've had my POP ready for a week now. I feel like a kid in a candy store. This might sound shocking, but I am looking forward to this reading event more than Jane Austen July. Shhhh, don't tell. Happy reading.
@@BookZealots All of the above, absolutely! My POP is ready as long as I don't get sidetracked by everyone else's pile. 😂 I'm trying to flavor some of my summer reading with nostalgia. For me, that's the 70s and 80s. So, I think the book I'm most excited for is Lusitania by David Butler. It is one of those epic historical fiction door stopper books that were all the rage back then. But, I must say, a close second is Erik Larson's newest release, The Demon of Unrest, about the months leading up to Fort Sumter. What about you? Have an excitement front-runner?
@@ThisLittleLightLife I've added Lusitania to by goodreads tbr. thank you. LOL I might have to consider Erik Larson's new book too. I've now read two of his books. I liked the one I read this month more. His writing is good. Oh no, don't make me choose. LOL Maybe Cold Warriors by Duncan White and The Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson

What fun! This goes along with the goal I had recently set for myself of reading ten books from my TBR pile before getting anything new. (With the exception of the final Maisie Dobbs that I've had a library "hold" on for a couple months.) So far I'm only on my second (small) book but I've got three Big Book possibilities sitting on my coffee table now: The Covenant of Water, 1944, and Martin Chuzzlewit. I'm in! That will be so helpful. Here is my list: *Eve by Cat Bohannon *Capital Dames by Cokie Roberts Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott *Washington by Ron Chernow *The Count of Monte Christo by Alexander Dumas Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros Unwell Women by Elinor Cleghorn *Some I these I have started and never finished, so here’s my chance! Wish me luck!
Hi, I am in from Germany. Though I did start it already, but this month, I'll be re-reading "The Medicus" by Noah Gordon. I put some smaller books in between, but this should count at 627 pages. For convenience I read it in German. Usually I read in english. But this I borrowed from myparents.😊
Sounds great! The rules are pretty flexible, so if you started it in the last week or so, it definitely counts for Big Book Summer. Join the Goodreads group so you can participate in all the Big Book chat this summer (and that makes you eligible for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing!). Just leave a quick note in the Sign-Up thread and then you can post about the Big Books you read in the other threads.
I'll be joining in this year and will hopefully make a dent in my pile of Tchaikovsky! June's GenreLand theme is Cephalopods and Cetaceans, so I'll start with Children of Ruin. Does it matter if I already started a book earlier than the challenge start date? I started The Mountain in the Sea several weeks ago but had to set it aside, and I was hoping to get back to it this summer.
Wonderful! Sounds like some good choices. It's flexible. If you're not too far and will read the bulk of it in summer, then sure, it counts! Be sure to join the Goodreads group so you can participate in all the Big Book chat this summer (and that makes you eligible for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing!). Just leave a quick note in the Sign-Up thread and then you can post about the Big Books you read in the other threads. And I see you haven't posted a new video in a while, but if you do make a video, just add the link to my blog's challenge page so others can find your channel. Welcome!
Hey Sue! 🥰I've been anticipating your announcement video. I loved participating last year for the first time, and I'm looking forward to this year. I have two books on my book cart from last year that I am determined to read this year, and I plan to start June 1st. They are Billy Summers and Boy's Life. If I can read those two books, which are also on my 24 Books for 2024 List, I will feel accomplished. 🤗Terrific pile of possibilities! Happy Big Book Summer! 📚
Welcome back to Big Book Summer, Kat! Seeing your comment, I;m realizing I haven't seen any of your videos lately - darn algorithm! You will LOVE Billy Summers - SO good! King's talent for creating deep, interesting characters is really on display there. Remember when you mention the challenge in a video to add your link to the sign-up page on my blog - then other readers can find your channel, too!
@@SueJacksonDE I agree with you 100% about King! Have you gotten his newest short story collection? Is it okay to add the link if Big Book Summer is part of a summer plans video and not solely Big Book Summer?
@@katsnoveladventures1863 No, I haven;t gotten it yet! And, yes, absolutely - your mention of Big Book Summer can be in any video - add the link to the list on my blog so that others can find it AND I will share it on social media!
Yay! I went looking for my Big Book Summer mug today, but apparently the kids got creative when unloading the dishwasher. 😡 You saw my Five on Friday video, but my own Pile of Possibilities is going up on Monday.
I didn't know you bought a mug, Melinda! I thought I was the only one 😆 - like I said, the prices were high on Zazzle! Can't wait to see the Big Books you're considering!
Sounds great! If you're up to it, join the Goodreads group so you can participate in all the Big Book chat this summer (and that makes you eligible for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing!). Just leave a quick note in the Sign-Up thread and then you can post about the Big Books you read in the other threads.
I read White Teeth by Zadie Smith. I didn't care for it too much. It was kind of interesting but .. I know it's very popular though. I read it because it was on America's 100 Favorite Novels list.
This video seems to really start at 12:25. I guess everything before that is really administrative stuff. Just a modest suggestion--I'd start with the books and then end with administrative info, which is generally not going to be as interesting to folks. Lonesome Dove is a 10/10 book. McMurtry writes in a way where the reader just flies through the pages.
Wonderful, Suzanne! Join the Goodreads group I set up for the challenge (link in the Notes above) and post a comment in the Sign-Ups thread. Then you can post about what you're reading in the other threads - it's a fun way to chat about books with other readers all summer long! And you'll be eligible for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing! Welcome!
So fun! 👏🏻 This will be my first year joining and I'm looking forward to it! I've also got Lonesome Dove on deck for June on the Range and I'm looking forward to starting it. I've also been wanting to read The Three Musketeers, so maybe this will be my opportunity. Would also love to read a biography on the Brontes by Juliet Barker or maybe get another Dickens or Trollope under my belt. Thank you so much! 📚
Welcome to Big Book Summer, Lu! I saw your post in the Goodreads group (though there've been so many sign-ups this weekend, I'm not keeping up!). Yay for Lonesome Dove - there are several of us now reading it this summer - maybe I'll schedule a Zoom discussion at some point. I've listened to Three Muskateers on audio (but for kids so it mioght have been abridged) and read The Count of Monte Cristo (also by Dumas) for BBS two years ago. I LOVE Dickens and many of his novels are perfect for BBS. Great Expectations is my favorite, but one summer I spent a whole month with David Copperfield and enjoyed that, too.
@@SueJacksonDE Thank you so much! I finally read The Count of Monte Cristo a couple years ago and LOVED it! I'm seriously considering re-reading it soon, but I'd like to read The Three Musketeers before I do that. 🤓 Love Dickens, too and at this point, I'd say A Tale of Two Cities is my favorite. But, I have only read 8 of his books, so I've barely scratched the surface! 😆
Hi Sue, I've participated in Big Book Summer for the last two years in my own little quiet way...never registered or made any announcement. I have a channel and I'm posting more regularly than last year, so I will likely be mentioning my participation in this reading event on my channel. If I read just one book, I want it to be Dune. If I squeeze in a second book, I want it to be The Five Wounds by Kirstin Valdez-Quade. I loved The Firekeeper's Daughter ❤️. Happy Summer Reading! ✨
Wonderful! I'm glad you decided to fully participate this year! Dune is my husband's all-time favorite book ever! Once you have a video where you talk about Big Book Summer, be sure to visit the challenge page on my blog to leave your video link in the Sign-Up links list - then, others can find your video/channel, I will share your video across social media, and you'll be entered for the end of summer giveaway drawing! Welcome!
There is one book I highly recommend that is hard to find. It's The Dollmaker by Harriet Arnow. I have an old small paperback copy that is 608 pages. It's one that really grabs your heart. I couldn't find it at any libraries near me and it seems to be out of print. I bought an extra copy that I came across on Thrift Books and offered to send it to another book tuber but she wasn't accepting books. I highly recommend it though.
OMG Start with Lonesome Dove. One of the best books I have EVER read. It will not take you all summer to read Lonesome Dove, no way. Once you start you will not be able to put it down.
Welcome back, Theresa! The Ferryman is on my stack, too, and I read Emma for a previous BBS. Be sure to join the Goodreads group (if you haven't already) so you can participate in all the Big Book chat this summer (and that makes you eligible for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing!). Just leave a quick note in the Sign-Up thread and then you can post about the Big Books you read in the other threads.
Hi Sue, I love the idea of big book summer and just joined the Goodreads Group. I really want to read The Weight of Ink By Rachel Kadish and I am sure I will more big books to read. Do you have scheduled meetings or do people just write about what they are reading and respond to each other? It is my first time so I don't quite know how it all works.
Welcome to Big Book Summer, Ann! It's pretty simple, especially if you don't have a blog or TH-cam channel - be sure to leave a comment in the Sign-Ups thread of the Goodreads group (then I will know to include you in the end-of-summer giveaway drawing). Then you can add a comment to the group whenever you like and read others' comments and reply to them. It's a fun book chat all summer long. There are discussion threads for What Big Book Are You Reading? And another one for when you finish a Big Book. That's it! Just read your books, interact and chat with other readers, and enjoy! It's a fun community. You know, though, I was just thinking that a Zoom meeting might be fun sometime - I'll think about that! Oh, and my book group really enjoyed The Weight of Ink!
Wonderful! To get to the notes, you click on the little " ... more" after the title and start of the description - YT doesn't make it very clear! But the group is called Big Book Summer Reading Challenge 2024 (there is one for every year, sop be sure you pick 2024!).
Sue, I just posted my video, but I think I put it in the wrong place the first time. I can't figure out how to get my video off the wrong section. Are you able to do that on your end? I'm really sorry to be such a pain....Technologically challenged here...😬🙄
No problem, Pat - easy fix :) You just added your link to the reviews and updates list, but I see you moved it to the Sign-Up list. So, I just deleted the extra. Thanks!
@@SueJacksonDE thank you, Sue. I didn’t seem to be able to delete the misplaced one myself. Thanks for taking care of that, and again, I’m sorry to make work for you! 😳
@@BookChatWithPat8668 No problem - I know it's confusing the way it's set up, but I can't find any better approach! You can use that second links list later in the summer to post links to other videos with your updates about BBS or your wrap-up at the end of the summer (if you do one).
Wonderful! Just join the Goodreads group (at the link in the notes) to officially join the challenge - then you can chat about Big Books all season with other readers, see what everyone else is reading, and you'll be entered to win the end of season giveaway drawing. Enjoy your Big Book!

Thanks! I'm hearing such amazing things about it - can't wait to dive in!
I love this idea so much that I want to do a big book each month this summer. I’m planning on Jurassic Park for June, Mansfield Park for July, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for August. Many of the other booktubers I follow mentioned your challenge. So happy to find your channel!

@@SueJacksonDE I did thank you!!
Hi, thank you so much for such a warm welcome, and yes, I will certainly be interested in the vids you recommend. Thank you. Love Julie x
I have been participating without knowing I was participating, Sue! 😂
Most books I read are over 400 pages, so I will definitely participate again and I'll make sure to mention it in my videos now.
This month I have Well of Ascension (650?), The Doomsday Book (700?), The Fox Wife ( 400?), and Beyond by Lackey (400?)
I don't know about July or August yet!

Thanks for the kind welcome and the fun challenge!

Oh, great! Thanks for the encouragement! Can't wait to dive in :)
I agree! Lonesome Dove intimidated me because of the page count but I whipped it out in 6 days. I could not put it down. Plus I’m a slow reader.
@@terrihoskinson Wow! That is encouraging!
(12 years!!!)
My understanding is that Kazen from Always Doing created the "pile of possibilities" term.
Hi Sue! Yes, I’m Antonia. I use my full name on Goodreads since I’m an author and that’s the name on my books (poetry). 😢
Ooh, sounds great! Thanks for the rec!
Yay, glad you plan to join the fun, too! Rebecca is a great novel - dark and creepy - you'll love it! I just heard about big book summer on another book tube site. So glad I found you the OG! Without meaning too I realize I have joined the BBS challenge as I have started reading "The Women of Chateau Lafayette" (546 pgs) by Stephanie Dray.

I just bought a copy of The Wandering Jew. It is over a thousand pages. I love books about spiritual journeys. I really love big books.
By Eugene Sue?
Well, then, you've come to the right place! To sign-up, just link your video (if you have a channel) on my blog or join through the Goodreads group - both links are above. Sounds like the perfect book for this event!
Definitely joining in. I have a few books on my TBR, one of which is Lonesome Dove.
Great, Jane! I'll be reading it in June :)
Hi Sue! I just found your channel and subscribed! 🎉 I was living under a rock up north in Quebec City and didn’t know about this challenge! 😅😂 I have started Les Misérables by Victor Hugo and my copy in French is just over 1300 pages. It’s going to be my project for this summer! 🌞
Holy cow. Now THAT’S a big book. Good for you!

I've had East of Eden sitting on my shelf for a while. I may try it for this challenge.
East of Eden would definitely count!
I just finished 'The Women' by Kristen Hannah. Read 464 pages in 2 days.
WOW, that's fast! It took me a couple of weeks to listen to the audio, but I finished it last night. Stunning book.
I've had my POP ready for a week now. I feel like a kid in a candy store. This might sound shocking, but I am looking forward to this reading event more than Jane Austen July. Shhhh, don't tell. Happy reading.
Me too! 😁
@@ThisLittleLightLife All of the above? LOL Do you have your pile ready? Which book are you the most excited to read?
ha ha I love hearing that!! Me, too, with the pile all set to go! And don't worry I won't tell 🤐 Can't wait to see what books you chose!
@@BookZealots All of the above, absolutely! My POP is ready as long as I don't get sidetracked by everyone else's pile. 😂
I'm trying to flavor some of my summer reading with nostalgia.
I think I'll give this a try!
Wonderful, Suey! Remember to link up your video on my blog's Big Book Summer Challenge page - then other readers will be able to find your channel AND you'll be entered for the end-of-summer giveaway drawing. I can't wait to see what Big Book(s) you plan to read!
Just subscribed! I'm going to be reading 3 big books: Spin by Robert Charles Wilson, Clan of the Cavebear by Jean M. Auel, & Empress Dowager Cixi: The Concubine Who Launched Modern China by Jung Chang.
Favorite BIG books: Game of Thrones by GRRM, Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, Wild Swans by Jung Chang, Invisible Child by Andrea Elliott, & The Woman They Could Not Silence by Kate Moore.

I loved Clan of the Cave Bear. I read the whole series ❤
@@lorifrederick2367 I good! I started reading the first book on audio a few months ago and loved it so I put the hard copy on hold at my library.
I'm so excited and I'm joining in this year. Just posted my pile of possibilities. And I'm sorry I thought it was just year two, so I'll correct that in my comments. Great Readathon! And The Symphony of Lawnmowers carries on here as well. Love the video.

I always love hearing birds and lawnmowers😊. I’m coming over from Laurie’s channel, Books Ink and Paper. I had planned on reading Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch in June, so yay, I’m participating. And I’m sure at least one more will meet the criteria too. I’ve subscribed to your channel and will look forward to catching up on prior videos.💕

To sign-up, just link your video in my blog post (if you have. channel) or if not, just sign-up in the Goodreads group :) It's fun to join the group in either case, so you can enjoy the book chat all summer!
I'm in! Thanks for getting me motivated. ☺️

Thanks! I'll have someone in my bookclub help me figure out how to get connected with your Goodreads group. I'm mostly loving The Covenant of Water. Heartwarming but heartbreaking. 400 pages down, 300 to go. 👍

I have read The Covenant of Water. It is one of the best books I’ve read this year. The Fire-Keepers Daughter was a favorite from the past. I read it quite fast.
I have several big books to read. Many of them are nonfiction. You haven’t mentioned nonfiction, so I hope that works as well for this challenge. I just subscribed to your channel.
One of the best things about challenges is the recommendations I get from others. That will be so helpful.
Here is my list:
*Eve by Cat Bohannon
*Capital Dames by Cokie Roberts
Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott
*Washington by Ron Chernow
*The Count of Monte Christo by Alexander Dumas
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
Unwell Women by Elinor Cleghorn
*Some I these I have started and never finished, so here’s my chance! Wish me luck!
Yes, nonfiction counts, too - Welcome to Big Book Summer!
