Yes! love it. Big up Parky. Jazz T is irreplaceable and keeps me motivated. that night at Thekla think I was at that one too! I played a set of all j dilla production, was just days after he died. I had my car windscreen smashed too, had to go get a new one at 3am then drive 3 hour journey home.
Great transmission, plenty truth, don’t let the egos or business crush the art or the heart. Build and help others find their way to express. This is the original DNA of HipHop. So everything can thrive and flourish, this knowledge is like water for plants. Or ignore that and create a desert, egos on the hot sand lol in a barren land. HipHop is about building community and uplifting spirits to believe in themselves from within the machine, the system. Otherwise it’s just feeding that same machine. Enough people standing together can begin to change the system but artists separately on some ego ting is just illusion and delusion looking in the mirror playing taped applause. We need the channel to grow to levels where it can make the difference we intend for it to make, but seems most prefer to just watch cats falling off roofs instead of supporting those they say they love or even like. Going back to our interview where we was discussing the white washing and whether people "left". It's interesting to hear a black artist of the scene who was here the whole way openly talk about race impacting their opportunities. This is what I was talking about. Big up Parky for telling it!
Yeah definitely, I was thinking the same thing, although I genuinely also know many that I was close friends with and moved with who left off their own accord too, but it does make me wonder if they felt like the opportunities were not there for them which is why they left But like I said, the main reason I was given by many of them for leaving was because there were girls in the clubs where other genres were emerging whereas the Hip Hop events were sausage fests. I guess it depends why we were there in the first place and if people's reasons for being their changed too. It's one of those topics that needs to be addressed with multiple people talking to get different perspectives from different generations, races etc, as I feel even the whites will to a very high degree agree with what Parky and you said and what we already know. Would be interesting to make that happen
