I'll never forget a patient that I had in the late 1970s who had leukemia was on a trip to Canada 70th with his wife and happened to be staying in the same hotel as Anne. Somehow she found out about his illness and was very thoughtful to send flowers to his room. I always felt this was so touching.
Anne Murray's songs evoke such nostalgia for me. My grandmother always had her music playing throughout her house. I have such warm memories of time spent with my beloved grandmother, with Anne's music playing in the background. This was the first concert that I ever attended. My grandma told me that she, and my mom, were amazed because I was absolutely spellbound throughout the entire concert, and mesmerized with Anne. I was only five years old, and apparently never took my eyes off of her! My grandma told me that she initially didn't think I should attend the concert with my older siblings because she thought that I would get restless, but I was glued to my seat the whole time! 😊 I just love her! I'm a huge fan. There's no one like Anne. She makes all Canadians proud! 🇨🇦
A guy who later became my classmate in the 11th grade told me that Anne Murray's concert was the first concert that he ever attended, as well, at the age of five. We were both on the circuit tour that year, I guess. He was one province away from where I had grown up. He told me that Anne gave him a rose during the show, and that it was one of the most exciting, memorable moments of his childhood! 😉 That's something coming from a big, tough guy who went on to play in the NHL.
What a lovely wonderful singer 🇨🇦☑️💯A Canadian treasure!!!!!!!!!!I grew up with. her songs , I am from Ontario , Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Her voice steams through your emotions which lights up your heart 😍. Very. Interesting 👍 Wish you the best
What. A. Class. Act! I saw Anne many times in California into the late 90's, and enjoyed her every time, the voice, and the humor! A true blessing is she!
She is ALWAYS MY ONE TAKE ANNIE....Worship her and has always been one of the best! Spent 20 years in radio starting at age 15...played her so much nearly got fired!!!!
Anne Murray is a treasured gift to Canada and the world … For as long as I can remember she has the most beautiful voice …. No matter how big a star she became she always retained that sweet humility …. Even watching her on her documentary she comes across so lovely and humble…..I think God was good to us giving us such a wonderfully talented Lady …..Thank you Anne for your God given talent …..you will never be forgotten your voice and music will live forever 💕
It's great to see Anne Murray looking healthy and wonderful. I have always enjoyed her beautiful music. And she mentioned Rosemary Clooney...another favorite singer of mine!
I have grown up my whole life knowing Anne. I also am from Springhill. My mother was the first baby her father delivered in Springhill where he was a doctor. My grandmother worked as a nurse with Anne’s mom Marion in the hospital. My Uncle who passed was Arnold Harrison and she was good friends with Anne. I was in Springhill when the Anne Murray center opened. Just listening to her talk about the bump. My grandfather lost a leg in the bump. This is bringing back so many memories. Glad to see she has moved home. Actually Anne.s brother is married to someone whose daughter hangs out with my daughter. My daughter Sarah was at her cottage jumping on her trampoline. Anyways this brought back so many memories. Take care Cheryl Bouges
I am from Springhill too Dr Murray was our family doctor. I live in Florida now, but miss my Canadian home so much. Thank you Anne Murray for sharing your great talent! I remember the awful mine tragedies. My 3 uncles were Springhill miners. Brave men all!
Absolutely one of the greatest Canadian performers always true and honest and her songs weren’t so high and that you can sing along with her. Love this woman
Ann is so real. Just like sitting down and chatting with your best friend. An amazing interview between Tom and Ann. A fantastic lady and an incredible voice. Tom you have such relaxed way of asking questions. Well done Tom. Wishing Ann a great life.
It's so true when Anne says as a maritmer you always want to go home. My mum was born and raised in Estevan, Saskatewan but moved to Nova Scotia with my dad because my dad was in the Navy and transferred there. My mum was the best Bluenoser there was. She embodied the friendliness and the caring that maritmers are known for. Myself and all my siblings were born and raised in Nova Scotia and I will always be a bluenoser. No matter where I live Nova Scotia is my home. That is where my heart is.
I want to say first, Anne Murray is one of the greatest singers of our time. She made it look so easy and effortless that I think a lot of people and the music industry took it for granted. I was fortunate to see her in concert two times and she is a great entertainer as well. She is one of the greats. Second, this was a lovely lovely interview -- kudos to Tom Power for being so respectful and empathic.
I just love that there's such an Anne renaissance happening right now. She so deserves it. My local rock station has played her many times over the Christmas holidays, and couldn't believe the positive feedback. Anne could have packed it in so many times in the 1970's and 80's, and no body would have blamed her. But she persevered. Also, incredible credit to her last manager Bruce Allen for making the final part of her career exactly how she wanted it, and financially secure. Anne and Bruce's relationship reminds us, that some times good people need a real ball buster to go to bat for them. Bruce Allen will be allowed into heaven for that, and his incredible work to get things done and all those artists on "Tears are not Enough".
Judging by how many albums she put out in such a short time seem like somebody was "busting her balls" - altho she put out great songs. She also said she wouldn't want to leave retirement and said something along the lines if she knew she didn't have to sing past a certain point she wouldn't have. But glad she's had numerous years to enjoy retirement, she's certainly deserved it.
I Love Anne Murray❤️ I was born in NL and Labrador. I have been living in the US for over 45 yrs.My late husband loved Anne Murray. He passed 2 yrs ago and I picked For the second song at his funeral "In The Garden by Anne Murray"
One of my top singers when I was growing up in the late 60s and 70s was Anne Murray. Just loved hearing her songs on the radio and always thought it was a treat seeing her on those TV specials way back then. I just gushed over her. My favorite Anne Murray song is Snowbird. Just made me feel like I was floating on a cloud. She still looks awesome!
I visited Nova Scotia in the Summer of 1995. And while touring NS, to my amazing surprise, I stumbled upon the Ann Murry Museum! WOW! It had my pic taken outside next to the sign and then toured the Museum! The Best surprise for me touring NS!! Just loved her music as a kid, and still do! I was stationed at NAS BRUNSWICK, Maine. So I went on a 10 day leave and drove to Canada.
Anne , you’re a Trooper, you never give up, maybe it’s your love of sports that makes you a fierce competitor, I just want to say thank you for all the great music 🎶 and God Bless you and your family
I loved Anne Murray’s music since I first heard her in 1970. I had every album then now every CD. My dream one day is to meet Anne. I have been at a couple of her concerts. I love her sense of humour. Hugs Tamarah Kane Ottawa Ontario Canada
I was born in 1965 and my mother and my best friends mother dragged us to see Anne Murray in Houston at the Houston livestock show and rodeo in the 70’s. I cant remember what year it was but i was young and it was my first concert. We didnt get home until about 1:30 in the morning but it was fun! Hoping to see this in the US!
This was a great interview! Such admiration and respect shown by the interviewer to a wonderful lady. I'm looking forward to seeing the documentary here in the USA.
Wonderful singer and a lovely wonderful lady. Canada should all be proud to have Anne as one of their own, and I think they are. Such a shame she’s not well known here in The UK.
Anne Murray speaks from her heart she's terrific artist may she have many years to come thank you Anne Murray for all the inspirational memories in your music
I grew up listening to Anne's music and still LOVE it to this day! Was singing Love Song just the other day. Thank you for the music, Anne! And thanks to both of you for the interview.
I'm close to Anne's age, 73 now. I''ve always liked Anne's music and after I got married in 1977, Anne became my wife and I's favorite music artist. Wonderful artist. Still love to listen to her music. Yes, Anne, I'd love for you to keep singing, but your choice. I do respect that.
My favorite singer - as Rosie was raised listening to Barbra Streisand - I was raised listening to Anne Murray. My mom also shared her name but different spelling. She even sang so much like her. My mom has been gone for 22 years - but every time I hear Anne Murray - I hear my mom in my soul. Anyway- much love to Anne Murray and family. May you all be blessed with health, peace, and joy in all the simple things.
What a wonderful woman with such an ability to make us love her for who she is. I'm 83 years old and can remember her live concert at Pine Nob in Pontiac, Michigan. We love Anne Murray, but I relate to being torn going to work, and haveing a family. Maybe not the same as touring, but the same feelings. I thought I'd die when I agreed to go to work, as opposed to being a homemaker. Being there when the kids came home from school, and keeping a home. It meant something... to me, at least. Glad your music is out there for all to enjoy.
I would like to share something that has meant a lot to me through the years, and I hope that Anne Murray will eventually see it. It was obviously during your fuzzy years Anne. Specifically, Memorial Day weekend, 1973, and you gave 2 free mini concerts in Disneyworld. I had a French Cousin who was in the French Navy, and his ship was visiting Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville for the weekend. I drove down for the weekend from Detroit, Michigan to pick him up, and drove him to see as much of Florida as I could that weekend. We drove down US 1 all the way to Key West the first day, and then I drove up the middle of Florida the second day stopping at 6 Gun Territory
Know I know why I love Anne Murray! You were great in your time! But now it’s time to live a quiet life! Why not? I’m a year older than you, and I totally understand where you’re coming from! I have no talent but I sure am a fan! I’ve pulled my Anne Murray CDs and will have fun and reminisce! I went to one of your concerts in Baltimore many years ago! So good!
Anne Murray I filled her for years she an icon music artist but to me she more country and contemporary but someone like Karen carpenter was all contempory never the less Anne Murray is a true icon in itself she telling her story in her music she a true artist
The first song that I heard Anne sing was in the garden and snowbird they are wonderful songs as all her songs are, but in the garden song is very relaxing, she is great
I was born on Anne’s 34th birthday in 1979 and I was disappointed that the documentary did not mention her being a physical education teacher for a year in Summerside. My favourite songs are Song For The Mira, Now And Forever, and A Little Good News
I WANTED TO MEET HER NOW 2024..WE ARE BOTH SENIOR BY NOW BUT I STILL LOVE LISTENING TO ALL HER SONGS..I WANTED TO TELL HER IN PERSON THAT SHE HAS INSPIRED ME TO SING HER SONGS BY MYSELF ...
In certain aspects of gospel music, country music, romantic ballads, etc., she can be considered the female version of King Elvis Presley.... I think that, in addition to all the admiration I feel for her, these previous words represent the greatest compliment I can express to her...
Great interview Tom. I just wish Anne would come out of retirement and do very small intimate concerts. That would be really nice. But I know that's never going to happen. Seems like her heels are dug in solid to the ground for not performing again.
Anne Murray is still so lovely. She talks about how singers including her can't sing in as high a register as when they are young. Lou Christie is 78 and can still hit the high notes. He is known for his falsetto.
I adore Anne Murray. 👏🙏🏼💕🇨🇦
I'll never forget a patient that I had in the late 1970s who had leukemia was on a trip to Canada 70th with his wife and happened to be staying in the same hotel as Anne. Somehow she found out about his illness and was very thoughtful to send flowers to his room. I always felt this was so touching.

I have fond memories of listening to Anne's music growing up. She is a peach in a pear world.

Great post of memories CH. You brought your memories alive. I felt your passion.
Yes she does! Myself included. Very proud Canadian.
I am 80 years old, and I still play Ann’s music on Alexa. She is a special person, and her songs are the best.
What a Canadian treasure. Thank you for all the musical joy you gave to us. Lovely to see you so well and happy.

Seen her many times. Always a class act, never a note out of place. Always a shrewd entertainer.

THIS LADY doesn’t KNOW IT but my god! SHE gets it! She knows what was, and she knows where she is NOW! DOWN TO EARTH! Personified!

Hi Kathryn hope you’re okay?
She has a sad looking when they played her song. Such a beautiful lady singing lovely and touching songs.♥️👏
Hi Nancy hope you’re okay?
The queen of Canada! Her name alone brings a smile to my face. ❤
She a great inspiration to millions
What a wonderful woman with such an ability to make us love her for who she is. I'm 83 years old and can

Thank you, Ann, for being my favorite female singer.
What a beautiful, highly talented lady!
Anne is the best. Thanks Tom.
Hi Amanda hope you’re okay?
I lived in Thornhill ON for thirty years , i'm in the age group as Anne Murray and followed her music and still do . Anne raised her kids a normal life style , my daughter was a clasmate of her daughter , I think , in grade seven or eight , and was invited to her birthday party . My daughter told me some time late rthat she didn't go , i didn't say anything to her but i wish she had accepted because Anne is a very warm down to earth person .
Anne is one of my favourite singers. I love to hear all her songs. My favourite is You Needed Me. Danny song and Snowbird are also great songs of hers.
We love you, still, Anne Murray. The best. ✌🙏🥰
Anne had such a beautiful voice and her music is the background of some wonderful memories. Hope this documentary comes to the U.S.!
Anne's 78th birthday was a couple of days ago, and I was surprised to note that nobody wished her a happy birthday. I did!!! She's still great!!!!!
It sure sounds good to hear her voice. I remember meeting her with my father. And the 2 of them ended up speaking nonstop about the Canadian music connections with New Orleans.
I hope she now can blend back I to her community as Moira Anne Carson. But still keep us fans up to date occasionally.
And whether "Moira" or "Anne" .....you still have a lot of living left to do !!!
Best Wishes !

One of the greatest singer ever, loved by the people from all walks of life.

In certain aspects of gospel music, country music, romantic ballads, etc., she can be considered the female version of King Elvis Presley.... I think that, in addition to all the admiration I feel for her, these previous words represent the greatest compliment I can express to her...
love you Anne
❤ her
Hi Q! Just like on the other CBC channel with past Strombo interviews, you could upload Q interviews that haven't had videos
Great interview Tom. I just wish Anne would come out of retirement and do very small intimate concerts. That would be really nice. But I know that's never going to happen. Seems like her heels are dug in solid to the ground for not performing again.
Sublime woman.
How wonderful. She’s right…..”every maritimer wants to go home”.
Well,, That's a good way to describe her! She is woohoo nice!
Hi Linda hope you’re okay?
Anne Murray is still so lovely. She talks about how singers including her can't sing in as high a register as when they are young. Lou Christie is 78 and can still hit the high notes. He is known for his falsetto.
Anne , you're still very classy and very beautiful
