The Urumi is super cool. The only bad thing about it is that it exists in the real world, where it's as dangerous to the wielder and absolutely anyone nearby as it is to the opponent.
Hey Monk! Great video as always! Sorry for the long ass comment but wanted to tell you that giving the blood infusion to a weapon with innate bleed doesn't give you any bonus buildup. So let's say that you apply the blood infusion on the standard whip and on the thorned whip: those two weapons will have the exact same amount of bloodloss buildup at equal arcane levels. More generally, the arcane scaling is also the exact same on ALL blood or poison infused weapon, it's a C with an hidden value of around 100. So with the same amount of arcane you get the same amount of bonus status buildup across every weapon, while the base status buildup is only determined by the weapon class (i.e. colossals get loads, daggers get little). The actual unique benefits that a weapon with innate bleed can give are 2. One is that you when occult infused you scale both the damage and the bloodloss buildup with arcane, while other infusions only scale the damage. The other benefit is that if poison infused the weapons keep their base bleed, gain a huge amount of base poison and then both statuses are scaled with arcane, giving you more bloodloss buildup than every other infusion (other than blood and occult of couse) while also giving you a lot of poison builup. TL,DR: on weapons with innate bloodloss occult and poison infusions good, blood infusion bad Hope this can be useful to you or anyone else who had the patience of reading it. Cheers!
The only benefit to blood infusion on weapons with innate blood loss is that the bleed proc does increased flat damage Pretty much only good low level where that extra 100 damage on the proc is helpful
@@LikeTheBirb Ah yes you're right, I forgot about that! It's such an obscure and (as you said) pointless mechanic that it didn't even cross my mind. Thanks for reminding me!
It's even more useless on Hoslow's petal whip. Normally, that slightly stronger version of bleed can only be found on either: a) Somber/unique weapons with innate arcane scaling(Like rivers of blood, mohg's sacred spear, reduvia, etc) b) Weapons with innate bleed infused with blood affinity like someone else in this reply chain mentioned But, for some reason, Hoslow's petal whip inflicts the stronger version of bleed right off the bat, so you have literally no reason to go with the blood affinity over the occult affinity whatsoever, because the blood affinity would be just as effective on even the thorned whip which doesn't have the stronger bleed innately. You'd get more ar and similar blood loss build up
That's an awesome idea, be able to get most out of close quarter openings with the sword since whip is too slow, while also punishing them for running away or maintaining their distance, time to try it out myself.
@@anstorner personal recommendation: as an additional punishment add frost/bleed/ or poison to the whip so you can caused buildup ( i personality love using frost)

I hope whips get buffed or allow them to critically strike enemies. If it was kinda similar to life stealing fist where it only worked on certain enemies then I’d be happy. It would be cool to have the whip wrap around a target and swing them around and slam them into the ground.

One thing that always got on my nerves about whips is that every whip, expect for the urumi, does strike damage. Ig it makes sense cause the urumi is basically just a flexable sword that fits the whip description, but why do none of the other whips do slash damage types? Like the hoslows petal whip is literally designed to inflict major pain and bloodloss, but it's a strike weapon. Hell even the thorned whip could have peircing damage because the torns stick into your skin and give it a reason to do so. Such a weird weapon class.
They all did slash in previous games, they were made strike because it makes more sense, and hoslows doesn't have enough reason to be slash. It's a long chain that just happens to have edges on each link, it's still smacking someone with a steel chain. The cuts are very shallow and not the majority of the damage dealt, same with the thorned
@@BigHatLoganGaming those are some fair points. I just always imagine whips with deep lacerating cuts and it's weird seeing it be effective/ not effected against certain enemies or bosses. Seeing a whip being effective against a crystallian is a bit odd lol.
@@Gunkboosters in real life I have some whip experience and I can tell you something Something like a bullwhip would do slash damage, that loud bang when you pull it back just right is the tip swinging hard enough to create a sonicboom and would definitely rip the skin open, but the way the character in game uses whips, strike makes sense. It's a heavy smack, moreso than a "just the tip" lashing, and the basic whip is meant for like bdsm, and not dealing real damage, so also strike.
Okay, so DEX/ARC build with the bleed whips then? But what about the Giant's braidd? I'm not sure whether to go for strength or faith or both as iirc Strength increases fire damage and this thing scales with strength anyways.
