Thanks so much Guy! I really appreciate the comment and l are so glad it helps. It's the way l talk and l know it's not for everyone (as evidenced by the blog site... haha where l always say it will never become huge because there is too much detail and most people just want the gloss :-) ).
Thanks for watching it, Greg. It was the sort of information l had been looking for while we were planning our move and l am glad it's helping others. :-)
Great seeing you two again! Very curious to see how prices evolve from now on - even the fact that they were down a bit was surprising. I was reading that it was for the first time in ages (can't remember exactly how much) that food prices kept going up, globally, for 10 months in a row. Good to see that Valencia - and probably Spain - is not part of the trend.
Nice to be seen... haha! It is pretty shocking to us that a lot of items are lower in price. We were just commenting on our shower gel which was previously 90 cents but is now 70 cents for a liter! It's as if capitalism is not a thing here. They don't gouge. Federico was just mentioning that prices for quite a lot of the items were the same as years ago when we first started keeping track. Insane! I am definitely glad about that :-).
Thanks so much. I enjoy your channel. I just have to laugh hysterically when you say 60 euros is high for your electric. Remember people in Texas just recently had bills in the thousands for a single month after that cold spell. I too bought my place in Malaga for the same reasons. I can’t wait to retire there.
Thank you too, Heath, for watching. Funny, I had forgotten the high electric bills back in Houston... like five times that amount :-)! How quickly you get used to the lower prices. I read about the people who had the adjusting rates and got burned recently. Ouch!!!! Malaga awaits you! We lived there for seven months.
Just discovered this excellent channel. Any Spanish taxes on an American retiree's SS pension, 401(k) and IRA withdrawals used for living expenses in Spain?
Thanks Yanni. Quick answer is that yes there are, but it is based on how much you have paid in U.S taxes and the difference is then taxed post personal allowance.
99.9% of areas in Valencia are safe so no worries about that. It's more towards "do you want to be near restaurants and touristy areas" a local neighborhood or somewhere outside of the city but still on the metro etc. You can check out the videos of the apartment tours l have of Rusafa and El Carmen with prices. Being on the edge of the city, l would say like 6-700 for 3 bedrooms.
The clinics we have used so far in Spain (5 in 3 cities) have all been very, very good. Our current vet has state-of-the-art stuff and he is an excellent surgeon. Prices are lower than in the U.S, but still pricy.
Your monthly expenses videos are great however your viewers cannot see the table at end of your video showing the cost breakdown because youtube sticks a video ad over the top left side of it. This could be resolved if you move the table a few inches to the right side of the screen. I would sure appreciate that!
Private insurance does not cover prescriptions, so it's cash. The good thing is that the prices are so much cheaper here. For instance my brand name blood pressure pill used to cost $45/month copay and here it's 20 euro cash price for the same brand name.
Thanks for the video. Well done! Do you know someone I can talk to about health insurance? We are U.S. citizens and one of us has pre - existing conditions. From what I read, it will be near impossible to get private health insurance as residents. Would really appreciate your help. Thanks!
Thanks, Hector. Health insurance is a whole can of worms and a bit complicated with pre-exisiting. I have a whole section on it on the moving to Spain ecourse (bit.ly/3unFX1C). It's not impossible, but very tricky. Write me via the contact form and see how generous l am :-).
I say every day just about how happy l am that we no longer live in Houston. They cover nothing! and the fear is real to not claim anything because you get dropped! Legalized mafia :-).
Hi, are HOA fees typically on the low side? I paid $150 A MONTH 27 years ago in Florida! €45 ish? Wow!Property taxes are what I spend annually on pizza €250 or so. Ok cool. 😅🤣😅 To OBTAIN good home owners is good in itself! My goodness. How about deductibles, or as the say here in England "excess" on your home owners (€16 😅🤣😅) Do you blast your a/c or is it that low (this is a year later so it may be a more). €37 water. I take short showers but drink a lot of tap water. Gas water heater is cheaper - ok. We have that here in London. Yes. I'm gonna take a screen shot of this (bearing in mind things have gone up). Cable pkg, internet, Netflix... €109. About same in England (but I moved over from US); €27 gas - close enough; €407 Groceries? I spend more. Ok. Car ins €21 😂😅; £197 dining out, movies etc. or less. Ok.; Health ins. €85.08 full coverage. Free in England but OH OK PLEASE! No biggie. €250 for emergency (dog etc.) I get it. It depends. Your prescriptions were €23...; bus pass €9. €1570 total. You own outright. Good size place for that low electric bill (a/c). Thank you. I know it's likely closer to €2,000 now, unfortunately. Love you guys!!! I'm Toni orig. From Chicago. Lived in Houston and Florida. Xx
Hi Toni! Yes, it has gone up a bit, but not by much. The latest one is from last month here th-cam.com/video/ec9QVWB6gVs/w-d-xo.html . It is laughable when you compare it to what we used to pay. Our HOA remains the same. Some of my friends that have a concierge pay about 100-120€ but most pay what we do. We certainly can't complain even about the rising prices :-).
Love the completeness of your rreports. You dont just tgrow figures at us, you provide them in context. Please keep up the excellent initiative.

Thank you. I find your information very beneficial as we build our plan to transition to Spain.
Thanks for watching it, Greg. It was the sort of information l had been looking for while we were planning our move and l am glad it's helping others. :-)

Omg this is blowing my mind. I need to move there! I really appreciate you guys making this video.
Thanks for watching Melody :-). I know... right? Insane when you think of the price difference.

What’s the coldest it gets over in Valencia and how long does it last?
"Winter" season is usually from November to mid-March with the coldest being January where the lows are mid-forties.
What is the average rent for an apartment in a reasonable nice and safe part of Valencia?
99.9% of areas in Valencia are safe so no worries about that. It's more towards "do you want to be near restaurants and touristy areas" a local neighborhood or somewhere outside of the city but still on the metro etc. You can check out the videos of the apartment tours l have of Rusafa and El Carmen with prices. Thanks for the informative video. May I ask which insurance company you use that's full coverage and only in the 80 euro range? Thanks again.😊👍
How do veterinarian clinics compare there to the U S in regards to technology and treatment?
The clinics we have used so far in Spain (5 in 3 cities) have all been very, very good. Our current vet has state-of-the-art stuff and he is an excellent surgeon. Prices are lower than in the U.S, but still pricy.

Hi Daniel, I have answered your other comment. I will try and do what you suggest for the next ones. Thanks again.
By the way....how do you payfor prescriptions? Do you have insurance?
Private insurance does not cover prescriptions, so it's cash. The good thing is that the prices are so much cheaper here. For instance my brand name blood pressure pill used to cost $45/month copay and here it's 20 euro cash price for the same brand name.
Wow, that is not bad at all. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 No way you would pay a low fee for health insurance in the U S.
I know right? I worked for a chain pharmacy and my contribution per paycheck was way higher than our monthly premium :-). It makes all the difference.

Hello! What visa should one get moving to Spain?
I talk about the most common ones in this video. th-cam.com/video/QRHXPhFf1eE/w-d-xo.html
@@nextbiteoflife Ok thanks
Insurance in Houston that doesn't cover flood = USELESS . 😨😨😨
