This is adorable! I loved folding notes as a kid, and this brings that task to a whole new level while also being incredibly nostalgic. Thank you for sharing!
This kind of secret letters were used also in ancient Japan. They were called tato origami. All the work you made is such a treasure! Thanks for this video, it's really inspiring!
I've been doing a lot of different types of paper ornaments this year, and this would make such a charming ornament! Also very fun to have a little message inside for next year!
diese Anleitung ist mein schönstes Weihnachtsgeschenk und ich freue mich sehr es heute entdeckt zu haben! Vielen lieben Dank und alle guten Wünsche zum Weihnachtsfest !
Love it!! The beginning reminds me of the little hats and boats we made as children, fold in half then turn corners in, but then it turns into a beautiful card. Beautiful work, and precious idea! Thank you!
I teach world history to 6th graders. This is so neat how it dates back to the 1300’s! I am going to show them how to make these when we go back to school after the holidays! Thank you so much for sharing! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Am I the only one feeling sad about letters that never made it to where they were supposed to go? Who knows how many lives went on different paths because it. These are amazing! And I love the term, "letterlocking."
These are so cute! I have never heard of these. The only thing that I can say they remind me of is the Cootie Catchers that we made out of folded paper as children. I need to try this. To think that maybe our ancestors used this method for mail is fascinating. Thank you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🎊❤😊
I definitely prefer this locked letter design. The purse is also lovely, but being a bit dyslexic it kind of lost me quickly. ;) I might try this one to include with some gifts instead of a gift tag. Thanks again for the inspiration they are always so unusual and unique.
I think it would be wonderful to receive one of these! I’ve thought about getting double sided copies made so I can mass produce the same design for friends. 😊
I love this and I think I will have a go at making one! Thank you for all the background and history and for the excellent tutorial. Can't wait to see the Victorian Puzzle Purse video now!
Thank you, Leslie! Your videos are always so inspiring. I think I’ll spend some time on Christmas Day making one or two of these! I’m imagining a wax seal on the outside. Not that it’s needed but, oh my, why not? 😊 Happy Holidays to you and yours!

I feel sad about it too. It’s so tragic! 💔
As an aside. There is a lovely fairly recent fictional series from America about a lost letter department and tracking down their recipients.
@@DeeFay-fl1hs Do you know the name of it?
@@DeeFay-fl1hss sounds like a wonderful premise! What is it called?

Hundreds of medieval letters? What a treasure trove? Have they been compiled? Digitised? Translated?
❤
Please, what paper are you using?
