I'd say #3 was a win. He did extremely well for that style of boat in those conditions. Even though the seat popped up.

Something I would like to know is if you have made a spreadsheet to track boats that handle waves the best powered and unpowered, what boats seem to be more reliable, and oldest

Am I wrong to think (and practice) when I want to keep my bow up and make cautious headway against waves is to tilt my motor up to force the bow up. I find this exposed more of the v of the hull to disperse waves to the sides and maintain a steadier angle that the boat runs through the heavy waves. With all these outboards this is a no brainer operation, or so I thought.

I forgot my drain plug in my fishing oat on Lake Sonoma today. Fortunately I got to shore and the plug inserted in time when I noticed.
