This game is classic, man we had the best childhood coming up. Many nights at my cousin's house playing this game. Other than Tecmo Bowl this was the first football game that I played the most. I missed these days.

This was the game that got me into football games in the first place. Not Madden
Tecmo Bowl for me but this was the one I played the most
Tecmo Bowl started it, then Madden with the 16 teams, then Madden 92 and 93, then I got turned on to this one! Loved this game. They all had their positive sides.
I was more into Montana then madden
Preem25 mine was Bill Walsh college football then played all these other games lol
4th & Inches for me on the Commodore 64. That was such a classic. Then TV Sports Football on the Amiga followed by Madden on the Megadrive/Genesis.
That's why Genesis did what Nintendidn't.

this game blew my mind in 1992. Voices in gameplay was a new thing believe it or not back then.
Same here. You occasionally heard maybe a word or two of speech in a game. For there to be full play by play in a game was unheard of. Graphics were good, too.

That is a darn impressive variety of words and phrases for a 16 bit system!
If the voice had the same quality of tone, it would sound only slightly weaker than today's video game commentary.

I could never figure out how to change who I would throw to. I used to cheat though, I would always pick fake punt pass and the computer wouldn't know how to cover it. I would win games 157 - 0. I did a lot of onside kicks too. "The Cleveland Browns DESTROY the Dallas Cowboys 157 to NOTHIN'" would be the way the announcer would call the end of the game.

MotoGPchampRossi46 I can agree with this game getting you into the actual sport, but I have to disagree on this being better than the madden franchise. EA Sports officially always had, and still has the legal rights to make their sports titles as real as the actual sportscast very similarly known as ESPN.
@@cjronetwentyseven2937 This was better than Madden in 1992/93. It was more real life simulation than Tecmo. Madden eventually pulled ahead with season/franchise mode and their passing mechanic.

I was a small child when this game came out. I played it for years. I still don't think that I ever caught a pass in the game.
Once you find the right passing plays and receiver, you can score at will.
My friend and I would put this game on just to laugh at the "YO" we didn't even like foot ball xD

This game is the the reason I chose the Genesis over the Super Nintendo. It was ground breaking at the time. I really loved it. This brings back some great memories.

This was innovative back in the day. Never had any substantial commentary in any football game until this point. I remember I kept selecting snowy weather when playing as the Dolphins, just so I can hear him say “it’s a cold and snowy day here in Miami.”

It's a random day during the week and he yelled out, "who that is playing a game today??" Lol, I said it's this game pop... He says, "That MF sound real as hell!" RIP pops, classic!!

in this game you could be the wide receiver hold down on the pass button run the route let go of the past button the icon would appear and complete the catch yourself it was amazing
a big problem was that the speed burst combined with the spin move was Unstoppable and you can score on literally every play
They didn't add speed burst until NFL Football 94
I remember playing this as a kid. Every player looked the same and all had the same speed. I still liked it though. It's challenging to score.

To achieve passing you have to look at where the player is relative to where the ball is being thrown and then aim the player closest to the ball being throw towards the ball being thrown

Rodney Hampton was the #1 RB. at the time. Meggett was on the roster but just sat on the bench.

Why are they called the 49ers. It would make sence if California was the 49th state but it wasn't. Should have called then the sanfrancisco 31ers
Has something to do with gold miners, thats why 49ers have gold and red as their colors
It's a reference to the Gold Rush of 1849 that saw San Francisco's population explode 25 Fold in one year, putting it on the map.
