Many American/Canadian/British and EU digital nomads have left Thailand for Bali. They said they are offended by the Thai 90-day visa run, which makes them feel "unwelcome"! I think Bali's new tax-free, long term visa will attract millions of digital nomads and boost the Indonesian economy in no time.

We just got residency in Mexico and they did an iris scan. It broke my heart to do that to my children. We wanted residency to get rfc which is a tax number to pay less capital gains and less tax on air bnb. I don’t plan on being here long but I feel all this nwo over reach has given me ptsd. I know we need to renounce Canadian citizen ship and get another elsewhere and same for our corporation. I’m terrified I’m signing up for darker countries knowing it’s affecting future generations. If it’s based solely on money it would be easier.

Agreed. We've decided to hold back on immigrating to a European country and instead we're staying put where we are however the trade off is that we're in a high crime country. For the moment, we can buy a little safety but it's so tough to know what the right thing is to do for our kids.

As somebody who has been living in Mexico and Colombia since COVID first hit the US, Bali always sounded like a great place to work remotely barring those intense lockdown restrictions from recent years. Yeah, relationships even with close geographical (e.g. Australia) and cultural neighbours (e.g. Malaysia) can be frosty to outright abrasive which really serves neither side. I think this is not going to happen. If Indonesia opens the possibility to allow foreigners to own lands, the locals won’t have chance to own anything. you can buy property yet not freehold property if ur a foreigner
but many of the locals don't have freehold either. mostly it's not much different these property you can always sell it again to anyone yet why even bother buying a property if you don't intend on staying for good
there's a lot of consideration to buy a property since it means big investments
many rich expats here managed to own their own property here but i'm not really sure how they do it tho
just 1 km behind my property there's a beautiful villa here owned by an australian expat. he teaches english here yet i heard his family owns a cattle ranch back in oz

What are you complaining about the amount of paper to open a bank account abroad. When I was on a study stay in the US, I could not open a bank account without an ID number. I refused to request a study ID number. I'm not a number, I'm human and I want to be treated like a human and not under a number like a slave. I am from the EU and only people suffering in concentration camps in World War II were numbered here! Because I did not have an ID, one of the US banks even refused to cash my check with a student scholarship issued by the US office. So this is democracy and human freedom in the unbureaucraticUS.
