From the moment I first played it at a school carnival at the beginning of June right after it was released, ZAXXON was my primary game for the summer. When I went to Vegas in July, that was about the only game I played in the arcade at the Circus Circus hotel. I remember kids watching me get free play after free play and asking how I did it. I said the same thing every time, "A little creature called PRACTICE". I'd stay there for 10-15 minutes on one quarter. My last day there someone showed up and dropped a quarter in and blew my high score away. I was pissed!!!! The 3/4 view was to my knowledge the first of it's kind. I loved that game. Thanks for this blast from the past!!!!
Thanks for watching Charles we appreciate it, that's a great story too, it seems even if you get really good at one there's always somebody just a tad bit better :) You could probably beat that guy if you had another day of vacation! Thanks for watching!
Zaxxon's graphics were genuinely mind-blowing in 1982, and the gameplay was hard. I don't know if they were particularly expensive for arcades to buy, but I never saw very many of them around.
I only seen this video game in person at a Super Slide in Columbia SC probably in 83 & it was a hell of a fast game.I definitely remember having Zaxxon on the Super Game Pack on my Coleco Adam.❤️ The Video!
Hello again,I noticed you must sell a lot of cartridges from the 80’s.Do you sell Coleco Vision Cartridges like Donkey Kong,DK Jr,Buck Rogers,Star Trek Simulator,Zaxxon,Smurfs? Please let me know at your convenience.
Joe's Classic Video Games I had it in 86-87 in Southern California. My dad brought it home and we thought it was a nice surprise. I knew my neighborhood cool points would go up.
Used to play the hell out of this game back then. I also remember that there was a shady little arcade I would sometimes visit that had some bootleg games. One was a clone of this one called "Jaxxon."
I have photos of 12 year old me, at the newly opened Epcot Center at Disney in April 1983, wearing my Zaxxon baseball hat. I have no idea where I got it, but I wish I still had it.
Great work 👏. I just picked up a 1986 mania challenge arcade game. I know it was an old kit..not dedicated. After watching your video here I realized someone back in the day used this zaxxon cabinet and switched it over to wrestling. Interesting. I guess people switched things around all the time I’m new at this hobby
Always enjoyed playing Zaxxon when I came across it at the arcades or elsewhere. Thinking back, about the only time I made use of the altimeter was during the boss fight with Zaxxon, making sure I was lined up with its missile. Other parts of the game, I only glanced over occasionally. For walls and barriers I would constantly fire, then when might shots weren't flashing of the walls/barrier, I knew I was lined up to clear them. The game could have used a couple more stages with varied layouts. Maybe a couple different Boss robot battles. ..Agreed on the sounds. This game had some great sounds. But beware of that front door. On a few different cabinets, that door was not locked securely and came down and cracked my legs.
I never understood why this game gets no love. Other than a cheaply built cabinet I love the graphics and love the way the game looks. Maybe adding more than the same two platforms over and over may have helped but all in all I like the game.
Yea, it was one of the first games that had that 3D kind of look to it. I remember playing it in the arcade but also on Colecovision as well. I'm still hoping to get one sooner or later.
I have one of these that's sorta in stinky shape, rats were in it, but it does power on. A guy put it at the side of the road so I was thinking maybe I could clean it up and fix it. I am in the process of cleaning this. It has a white line down the middle of the screen, not sure what is causing that. Cool video! :)
None of this was replaced it was all original stuff. Unfortunately they don't make woodgrain that matches any of these old cabinets, it's pretty tough to match the grain pattern.
Bryan Roth We usually don't post the prices on the videos because the games often sell pretty quick, so by the time people see the video they're no longer available for sale... this particular one is $699 ... you can see all the ones we have in right now for sale at www.LyonsArcade.com ... thanks for the kind words about the videos, we'll have many more coming in the future, keep watching!
Yes, it's typical on these. It's an AC powered fan, which are known for being noisy, the newer ones aren't as noisy so you could replace it with a new one that would be much quieter than the 80's ones. In my showroom it's no big deal but in your house it might get annoying quick :)
yeah, I knew I could replace it I just didn't know if it was mine being dirty. I actually have a home arcade so it's drowned out a little bit but I will probably find a quieter one and drop it in there while I have the game out of the lineup for general cleaning and high score save kit installation.
@@LyonsArcade Congo Bongo was another that I didn't care for much either. I suspect they may have had similar hardware since they're both played at that odd angle.
That was my go to game back in the day. I still remember counting the floor tiles trying to line up the final shots on that boss robot.
A lot of people still remember it fondly!

It's an interesting game, there seems to be a lot of them still left around so they must have sold some somewhere!
The first video game to ever have it’s own commercial on tv!
🤔nice👍👍👍

Thanks Christian, glad you enjoyed it! Super Slide, what a name!

Awesome. I used to have it in my garage. Good memories.
This might have been the exact same Cabinet, PacificVibe :)

Was it the exact same game? There was another one called "Snacks N' Jackson" that was a completely different title, though.
Same game, generic cabinet. I assume the ROM was copied and the name changed since it was onscreen.
lots of memories on this game in the 80's. hard to play but still shoved quarters in it trying to get better

I played this one a lot! The commodore 64 had a great version too. Super Zaxxon or Zaxxon 2, however, was nearly impossible
I have never met anybody that enjoyed Super Zaxxon!

Dude!! You are actually pretty good at this game.
this game was hard to play due to the view aspect was like third person at a 45% rear angel
Zaxxon no way! I had the board game version as a kid.
It's a cool game I never played the board game but my buddy Matt is always talking about it, lol Thanks for watching Yu Wish!
Big fan

I think it just comes down to the isometric view, I think some people just can't quite 'get' the game. That's what makes the whole game fun, though!
Yea, it was one of the first games that had that 3D kind of look to it. I remember playing it in the arcade but also on Colecovision as well. I'm still hoping to get one sooner or later.
Your video game store looks cool! Can I come?
Yes
Found one of these local for $450. Wish I had some spare cash,
I’d buy this game in a heartbeat!
The quarters I used in that puppy...

I just picked one up. For the wood grain, did you replace. What did you use? How about side art? Was it replaced?

I bet you can find a quieter fan to replace the noisy one with. I have zaxxon on my Legends Ultimate Games machine, still hard as hell game.
Zaxxon Did Came out 1982
Why not approach the robot from the other side of the asteroid?
I noticed that your fan is pretty loud. I picked up a Zaxxon today and my fan is also loud. Is that typical?
lol. Answered at 3:30

To the best of my understanding the fan's not going bad, they were just that loud originally, because AC fans used to be much noisier.
Oh how I hated that game as a kid! Quarter eater.
I never liked it, couldn't get the view right and the cabinets aren't built very well (the things collapse if they get wet).... I love Sega though....
