Many of my colleagues have asked why I own so many fragrances (115) and my response that everyone understands is that fragrances for me are therapeutic like aroma therapy. My frags put me in a great mood and relax. It's proven that scents are therapeutic, hence incense, potpoori, etc.
Yes, and that its a hobby that I get joy from. I dont drink or smoke, exercise and perfumes are my only 'addictions'. I buy mainly affordable scents so it's a positive in my life overall I think.
For me is an addiction, buying them,I admit but I think is an innocent one. On the other hand, perfumery, like other domains, has change a lot and there are too many good ingredients to combine. Therefore many delicious fragrances. Is like in the cooking art, more options, more new combinations and technics. You just can't settle for one or two 😂 !!
I've always loved fragrances but It became pronounced after I lost my sense of smell for 2 years from COVID. When I regained it, I needed to buy every perfume that I found even remotely pleasant. I will never take my sniffer for granted. How I keep my collection under control is I made a rule that for every perfume I buy I need to give up one.
I reduced my collection from over 100 to 30 when I realized I am NOT a collector and I only want to WEAR perfumes. If you only buy them with the intention to wear - realistically you really can't use more than 30. Also, I realized I was feeling guilty every time I was buying yet another one and I was kinda loosing control. That coincided with me decluttering basically everything else 😀So I chose one from each category (approximately) and sold all other bottles. I feel happier and "lighter" with this much smaller collection. I still buy samples but if I really want a full bottle I have to use up or sell one first. Hope this helps someone. You CAN take control. ❤
I’d say I wear perfume 90% for myself, and 10% for compliments. (Or just so people think I smell good, even if they don’t tell me.) Because I wear perfume even when I’m not going to be around anyone. So the only time I give any thought about whether someone else will like what I’m wearing is if I’m going to some special event. Otherwise I just wear I want that day and fits my mood and the time of year. And I definitely purchase thru samples and small decants. And divide them based on ones I feel are more for cold weather vs warm weather. I have a little bit of an addiction, but perfume brings me so much joy. I wear 2 to 3 perfumes every day. And I’ve stopped buying as many samples in order to use more of what I have this year. And I actually have finished quite a lot of small decants and samples. Many that I’d like to buy again. lol. Iprobably will for Christmas. Like some loves I got for Christmas last year: Vanilla Barka, Althair, Bianco Latte and Devotion. I also used up my large decant of Creeds Sublime Vanille. I was so sad!! I love that perfume!! But I’ll definitely get more of all of those!! (And others I used up like Plum in Cognac and Tonkade.) They’re all so good!!! 😊
I agree in europe it is not usual to complemwnt others on their perfume, twice I received and the person appologize at the beginning and said" may i say if it is ok, you smell amazing" 😅
True. I only get compliments from family and friends. Once I complimented a lady in a store that her fragrance was lovely. She looked at me like I was a crazy person 😂
D'Annam started shipping to Europe this month. So you can order it to the Netherlands, no problem. I just received the sample set. I can't say it met my expectations, especially because there's quite a lot of hype about the brand. I liked Da Lat most from the set but I am into wine notes in perfumes. White Rice and Vietnamese coffee are ok, but nothing special. There were a couple scrubbers too. Pho soup perfume was interesting to experience, but not sure I'd like to smell like that.
Satsuma was one of the FIRST fragrances that got me excited as a teen about fragrance! It always gives me to this day a seriously happy boost! Maybe its dopamine? It always uplifts my mood and I cannot say that about too many fragrances all the way back as a teen to now! I am fifty!!! My husband even loves it and we have a big bottle of shower jel in our bathroom which will scent up the whole bathroom after using it unlike many other products can! The lotions from the Body Shop are fantastic quality as well and truly keep your skin moist all day! My Satsuma pot looks like yours! I have savored the last bit of the Satsuma fragrance which they discontinued! I feel using quality products when you can truly makes a difference in your skins health as well as uplifting your mood. However. If it is breaking your bank and you are finding you are constantly putting things on payments like Klarna thinking next month you will magically have more money or if its effecting your relationships or slighting your family out of groceries and nessesities then its a problem. Anyone in that situation should get help before it causes grief for you or for your family. xo
This was a great video. I love Fragrances because it can transform my mood. Give me joy but I know I go overboard with purchasing . however I have been only purchasing travels so I am trying to get a handle on things that way. I just love everything from beginning to end from ordering, anticipation of getting it opening up spraying wearing enjoying. I think I am an addict. 😮
I get my fix by sampling or buying dupes, so I save money. I can't pass a fragrance counter without testing something. I definitely spray based on my plans for the day. I test layering on the weekends.😊
I wear perfume mostly for myself and I choose fragrances that either reflect my mood or set the mood I want. I visit my perfumes every day. When I go out in public, I consider people around me but at home and when by myself, I wear what I feel like. I have a collection of 37 fragrances that I feel like is near complete, since it has most of the notes I wanted and something that fits any occasion and mood. Every now and then there is a perfume I am interested in, but I try to take a good while to think about it and decide how it fits into my collection and economy before I purchase anything. I have decided not to have two perfumes that are similar, so a new addition has to really add something new. But are there hundreds of perfumes that are appealing, tempting even, maybe better than some of the ones I have, that would be nice to have? Sure 😊 At the moment I don't want to get rid of any perfume, but there are some that I will not repurchase. I will use them up and hopefully end up with a carefully curated collection in the end of fragrances I truly cherish 😊
I just subscribed your channel. Why have not i seen it before? 😊 I like your videos! And your kind and calming manner of describing scents - such a pleasure to listen and to watch 🥰
I will buy only Kayali Silk Santal and than year 2025 will be my no buy year. I am tired of new and new realises. I find my favorites perfumes during 3 years. I have no joy from new fragrances anymore, because I know its a waiting.
I've been a fraghead since i was 3 😂. I remember sneaking on my mom's drawers and sprayin Je Reviens by Worth, and then when I was a teenager spraying my sister's Anaïs Anaïs...very naughty 😂.
I love to smell good, I love fragrances, for home etc I have stopped overbuying because they do expire I realized it’s best for me to use the ones already have and keep purchasing only the ones that I enjoy the most
Hi Arlene I wear perfume for so many reasons but mainly it makes me feel good, also I live in Cyprus and get regular complements so yes it could be a cultural thing ❤❤❤❤
Same, I love perfume, got into it pre pandemic and throughout. Unfortunately have developed sensitivities, can't spray them myself anymore. Someone has to spray them on clothes for me and let them air out far away from me before I can wear them. That's the only way I've found out so far. Such a bummer. :((
hi! The real question is: why don't we wear fragrances even if we appreciate them? I don't know.....but yes, it happens....In Bottega Veneta range I adore Illusione for her...do you know it?
Oh I am also in NL! And yes no compliments here, I think people could call you out if your perfume is too much, but not really compliment strangers. I use perfumes for the same reason as you, as I barely live my house it is just for myself. I love hear people talking about it, to try new things and express my mood for the day with it.
For me, perfumes confirm my mood. It’s like a theme for the day.

That's exactly what I say 😊
I agree

wow! Great collection! I own ONLY 54 fragrances and they seem too many to me, but I ADORE every single frag....
@@serenal6525an amazing collection is hardly defined by quantity

I am addicted to perfumes 😂 have at least 400 perfumes. I don’t smoke or have any other addictions. lol.

That so true you need to be your own judge when it comes to buying perfumes

How many do you currently own?
The same in Denmark, I get no compliments, only from my close friends. It is indeed a cultural aspect.😊
Same here in Finland
Perfume takes me back to my childhood. Especially Tendre Poison Parfum Dior. It was my mum's signature perfume.
I decided I was and quit buying. Still watching but can say NO!
