I've been stuck on Knob Creek. I need to try some Maker's Mark and Wild Turkey. I can't recall having them straight. And your describing of Maker's Mark sounds amazing.
Don’t know if it’s that way all over but Buffalo Trace is allocated now days . I manage a liquor store in central Texas and we get 1 maybe 2 cases every other month
Used to order for a liquor dept in a grocery store years ago ( in Wisconsin). We would bring in 50 to 100 cases of Kessler 1.75 liters at a time. That and cheap vodka were probably our best sellers.
I had an unhealthy obsession with atomic fireballs when I was a kid. Fireball is literally liquid candy to me and it scratches that atomic fireball itch. Straight whiskey turns my stomach. Other alcohols don’t. Fireball doesn’t make me sick and can get me to that happy drunk state where I can just maintain it throughout the night.
Not a fan of Johnnie Walker Red Label, but I recently heard one thing that makes me understand and maybe appreciate it more: It was specifically created for mixing. It was created as an alternative to the (at the time) popular brandy & soda drink, when Phylloxera was really killing grapes in France, hurting brandy production.
Yeah i had it for the first time couple of months ago now i don't like any other bourbon lol, i like the way it burns my chest just the right amount, amazing
I've only drank whisky for the last year and have about 6 at home so I was pleasantly surprised I could drink WT 101, Dewars and Evan Williams along with you. Had some Jim Beam Black a few months ago, but its the only whisky I felt compelled to pour down the sink. Maybe it was too much as the only other ones I'd tried at the time were Evan Williams and Ancient Age.
I've have a few Bourbons, but I will say the black along with the devil's cut are really harsh with oak. If it's the oak flavor that's killing you then that's why. Bourbons are alot heavier on oak compared to all other whiskeys out there. I prefer scotch personally
Annnnd I'm back again!....one of my most favourite moments was sitting on the edge of Loch Lomond in Scotland with a couple whom we had rented a B&B from and asked them what the 'locals' drank..and they pulled out a bottle of Famous Grouse...was very nice indeed, certainly a daily drinker for sure.....then later that night I reached Nirvana. My wife had a special gift for me (it was a wedding anniversary after all!)....I sat there overlooking the Loch with a couple of nice Dun hill Mild gold corona cigars and a several (a lot) of drams from a bottle of Glenmorangie Signet 1, 18yr old that she had bought for me!!...now THAT is a memory I shall have forever...it was sublime....
I Lowkey had to take a break from whiskey for a monthish and move to frew brews because it’s way to hot in the deserts 🌵 in this summer. Also since I been drinking 40+% abv in whiskey. The beers are almost invisible Feelsbadman
🥃 I'll drink the Dewars and Woodford on an airplane as they are frequently on the menu along with Wild Turkey 101. But, WOW, so much "stuff" I never heard of and would not want to drink. I'm afraid of what I might find if I Googled "Top 20 Most Popular Wines in America (according to U.S. sales)". 🍷
It's amazing how many gallons of old fashioned's some bars up there go through in a night. I've actually seen it premade in pitchers to streamline the process at more than one bar.
I use to daily drink original Jack but got turned onto Jack Rye and I have a bottle in house al the time. Same with Bullet rye. Im not sure why but I prefer the rye more.
HAH, I am here just to comment that Kesslers made #18 in all of the USA just from the amounts consumed in Wisconsin. I'd never heard of it before, but as a mixer whiskey it punches above it's cost.
The thing is that taste to a relatively large extend depends on surrounding smells, subtle or not. In Europe, I would not drink Jack Daniels, but in Tanzania where I live much of the year: Yes, for sure! It fits the hot, dusty environment perfectly!
When I played in a band we always had Kessler's 😂 We didn't like it but we had to drink & didn't have much money. One of those jugs was like $8 or something
I put it in the same category as Smirnoff. They're great for what they are: cheap and inoffensive. Of course they aren't going to be that interesting to drink straight, but if you have to, they're way less harsh than store-brand liquor. And in a lot of mixed drinks, most people wouldn't be able to distinguish a more expensive brand anyway.
Man, living in Wisconsin, there is Kessler literally everywhere. Anywhere liquor is sold, you'll find 1.75 for like 15 bucks. Any like family gathering or social event, it's for sure going to be there as well. Mainly ends up being a mixer for "WI old fashioneds" or just whiskey and sweet/sour/coke. I drank way too much of this one night with some cheap energy drink (when I was like a teenager) and I've never been able to smell it the same again without imagining that night and wanting to just throw up on the spot.
Fellow Wisconsinite here. Can confirm that I see it everywhere. I don't really have much experience with it, but I've always looked at it as a "well whiskey" or just something to mix with and nothing more (which is what most whiskey bought is used for anyways).
My sometimes daily drinker is Tennessee Fire, it's Jack Daniels' version of fireball whiskey but t's a hell of a lot easier to drink, and a bit sweeter. It's just sweet with a big cinnamon taste and the perfect heat kick and goes down smooth, I love to sit back and drink some of that with ice.
I like all of the bourbons on the list. I also like the Scotch whiskies, except JW Red. I like the Black, and green, etc. I love cinnamon but HATE Fireball. Hate hate hate. Woodford Reserve is one of my all time favorite bourbons. Great stuff. Love this episode. And after an episode in college, 30 years ago, I still cannot stand the smell of Southern Comfort. I will puke.
I've gotta say this as someone who's lived in Kentucky and been into bourbon for over 12 years. I'm actually really impressed with Jack Daniels positioning in the whiskey market. Most whiskey that relies on a name or marketing jacks up the price artificially, looking at you Buffalo Trace. Jack Daniels has the recognition and more than enough of respect to keep prices high. And when I first got into whiskey 12 years ago, I felt they were a bit overpriced for what you get. But over the years, they've kept the price consistent even right now as American whiskey is gaining world enthusiasm.
It's most likely #1 because of how well it mixes with coke, making it a very popular choice in bars for people who don't like whiskey straight. And since it's in literally every bar in the US (and every countrry ive ever been to for that matter), those people always have that "go to" drink for easy decisions.
Hey y’all, new subscriber here and new member of the whiskey tribe. I’m SUPER new to the whiskey world and because of your vids (love them btw) I have decided to start my journey. Stopped at the store today and wanted to try a sweet scotch to begin. I asked the girl working for a cheap option in the 20 to 30 dollar range and she helped me ultimately choose Speyburn single malt scotch - Braden Orach. She said it was a 10 yr., come to find out the Braden Orach is actually a no age disclaimer (although they do have another type that is a 10 yr., maybe she was mixing them up). I will be sipping tonight (both without and with a dash of water) but hope I didn’t make a terrible choice for my first scotch. Hope for some replies from anyone on other options for the future, feedback, etc. Glad to be a member of the tribe 😊

WT 101 is my daily. I turned my nose up at budget bourbons for the longest, but when I tried the 101 I completely changed my mind. Rare Breed Barrell proof is quite good as well.
I love whiskey - it has been my go-to for pleasure and enjoyment for as long as I can remember. I tasted it all - American, Japanese, Scotch, Irish, Swedish, Canadian, and every other country that produced an export/import whiskey for consumption. My favorites still are bourbon - Wild Turkey and Makers Mark, and Laphroaig 12. And I have tasted most of the stupid expensive and hyped whiskeys of the world like Old Van Winkle and so on... didn't make me change my favorites.
the problem with being a Canadian hobo is it gets to -40c before wind chill and -70 with wind chill also trains just stop at places on the great plains and the driver gets on a different train leaving you 80 miles from any inhabited place or water for 7 weeks
Jameson is probably my all time favourite Irish whisky for "daily drink", especially IPA Edition that is in same price range here in Poland. For Bourbon I would go with Wild Turkey 101 :)
Kessler was the drink of choice for my best friends grandpa. Our VFW kept a bottle just for him. After he passed my friend had a shot of Kessler at our home town VFW for him. He also has a Kessler bar mirror in his garage for the same reason.
Unpopular opinion time! Try Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire. It's a (...slightly) nicer version of Fireball. Maybe not for drinking straight, but mixing with apple cider is a cup of cold weather happiness :)
I have had bars use something more expensive when I ask for "whiskey" just so they can charge me more when I close my tab out.....i'v learned to specify exactly what I want
Bought my first bottle of Canadian Club because Don Draper drank it. Drank it neat. Ouch - nope. hmmm... maybe this whisky likes ice. Over ice - it really opens up, hmmmm.... I bet this would make a great Old Fashioned. yep. epic old fashioned. I drink lots of whisk(e)ys. Many price points. I always keep CC in the house. very ice tolerant. @@CorePathway I'm surprised by its absence too, but here Four Roses (Yellow label) is about the same price as Evan Williams, which I've never actually tried. I'll have to give it a shot sometime. Didn't really like the FR.
LOL! Subscribed for sure.
As a Canadian, no one drinks Canada Club straight up unless you hate yourself and Canadian Mist is like a Canadian whiskey made by someone who not only has never had Canadian whiskey but doesn't know where Canada is.
Black Velvet is a mixer whiskey for sure, and not a very good one. The only reason it is so high on the list is that Costco sells it.
Cheers guys, you're a riot!
#3: Fireball
Me: I’ma gonna head out
yeah wtf?
Yeah, gross.
This list is just from sales. doesnt mean its good. Jim beam is WAY better than jack daniels. they didnt even have jameson.
Yeah, thanks for the heads up.... I'm out...
@cole Bruett Evan is hard to beat at that price point, isn't it? (Try the 100 proof white label)
Evan Williams bib is one of my favorites. And absolutely wallet friendly
1783 was my jam! 🥃 20s, 1990s.... ✔. BTW, I follow Evan Williams on Instagram...
Dude so good single barrel so nice too.
I like Jack Daniels with root beer. The vanilla of the Jack Daniels make it almost like a root beer float.
Agreed!!
When I started drinking whiskey i could have used a show like this because I had no idea where to even start. Now after 4 years it great to see the experience I went on and how I like what I like, no judgement. Thanks guys!
I work in alcohol sales and a Kentucky native. Nice to see a few of our Bourbons on the list.
Sit by the youtube fire and drink a dram or 20.
I've been stuck on Knob Creek. I need to try some Maker's Mark and Wild Turkey. I can't recall having them straight. And your describing of Maker's Mark sounds amazing.
knob creek is my go to right now, have you tried the others yet?
Maker's is great you wont be disappointed , reasonable price as well
I'm shocked that Buffalo Trace didn't make the list
Steve Bair too hard to get
Don’t know if it’s that way all over but Buffalo Trace is allocated now days . I manage a liquor store in central Texas and we get 1 maybe 2 cases every other month
Buffalo Trace used to be our well whiskey. We sold so many Old Fasioneds with that during happy hour we were able to get a contract for Pappy.
It's everywhere in Alaska. And not that good, imho
Everywhere in Arkansas and Georgia
My go-to’s are Woodford Reserve and Bulleit, glad to know I’m making good life choices lol
Yep those are my 2 sipping whiskeys as well.
Great message at 21:50. Thanks for taking the time out to stress that point. I try to convey that to anyone who asks me about trying whiskies.
Bulleit bourbon is my everyday go to. I’ve been venturing into the Japanese whiskey lately, for occasions.
Japan's whiskey market is legit
Used to order for a liquor dept in a grocery store years ago ( in Wisconsin). We would bring in 50 to 100 cases of Kessler 1.75 liters at a time. That and cheap vodka were probably our best sellers.
Fire for effect. The Milwaukee’s Best of booze.
They're making a infinity/dump glass of whiskey that I hope gets consumed when it's all done.
I've heard it described as "designed to be drowned in soda water" and that makes so much more sense.
@@skraegorn7317 are the higher priced labels also like that for johnnie walker? like black and on?
@@harisserdarevic4913 No, black can be used either way. The rest are all recommended neat or with ice/ water
@@rhedges9631 Thanks! I've finally started being able to sip on whiskeys without mixing anything but ice or water.
Wild Turkey, a friend and a trusted life companion
Yep it’s good
Yeah i had it for the first time couple of months ago now i don't like any other bourbon lol, i like the way it burns my chest just the right amount, amazing
"Emma! What are you doing?!?!?" 🤣🤣🤣
I couldn't stop laughing at that point. I had to watch it about 10 times in a row to get it out of my system 😂😆😅😄
@@cheddarbobchuck773 I've only tried a couple scotches, but haven't been disappointed. I usually get Johnny Walker Black.
I once bought a bottle of Jack Daniels, once.
Only once?😂
Oddly enough all the bottles of Jack Daniel's that've made their way into my dwelling have not been bought by me to date
Jack Daniel's is like some women that you meet at the bar.. it fills the need for the night! ;)
I'm afraid of what I might find if I Googled "Top 20 Most Popular Wines in America (according to U.S. sales)". 🍷
Boones Farm.....Franzia......Riunite
I drank wild 🦃 in the 1990s. Not as much 2000s. I had a security manager who drank Wild Turkey at night. I prefer Jim Beam, Evan Williams.
You can thank Wisconsin for Kessler being on that list 😂
I love how they never heard of it and I'm like oh yeah, I know that one.
Gotta make sure to get your Vitamin K
It's amazing how many gallons of old fashioned's some bars up there go through in a night. I've actually seen it premade in pitchers to streamline the process at more than one bar.
Yeah Kessler is a staple in Wisco.
Black Velvet was what my friend group drank through high school, so it just tastes like that time in my life now.
I use to daily drink original Jack but got turned onto Jack Rye and I have a bottle in house al the time. Same with Bullet rye. Im not sure why but I prefer the rye more.
Did anyone else come here just to watch their reactions when they have to drink fireball 😂😂
Now let's see a video of someone drinking that glass you were pouring all the whiskey into.
😂
They should bottle that and give it away to the local hobos!!LOL
Kessler is the standard whiskey coke served in bars in wisconsin.
Literally was like this must be a Wisconsin only
This is the bottom shelf in Wisconsin LMAO!
HAH, I am here just to comment that Kesslers made #18 in all of the USA just from the amounts consumed in Wisconsin.
I'd never heard of it before, but as a mixer whiskey it punches above it's cost.
Don’t y’all drink a ton of Korbel brandy up there?
The thing is that taste to a relatively large extend depends on surrounding smells, subtle or not. In Europe, I would not drink Jack Daniels, but in Tanzania where I live much of the year: Yes, for sure! It fits the hot, dusty environment perfectly!
Great video. I’m digging the format, rapid fire pace, very informative yet to the point. Thanks for this!
We "had" to drink😂 I've struggled through some cheap years myself lol
Never forget the legendary line from Return to Zork: Want some RYE? .... Course you do!
I’m so glad I’m stumbled across your videos!! I’m a huge whiskey and scotch drinker! ❤️❤️
Talisker is my daily go to. I've tried most of them. It's either the ten year old or 57 degrees north
Talisker 10 is probably my favourite whisky. It's just the right balance. Skye is pretty good, too. Not tried 57, or Storm, yet.
If you didn't catch that novel of a message in the single black frame before the credits, it says they are making a gin.
I never thought of wild turkey as a daily and am going to grab a bottle and I love Jim beam it's my go to in a dive bar . Great videos u guys have taught me so much .
duke togo the 80 proof is garbage you have to go after the 101 or rare breed 108 proof or if you’re feeling fancy the Kentucky spirit I think it comes in a wooden box with a special bottle
Wild Turkey 101 is one of my everyday go-tos. Flavorful, affordable bourbon
Good thing about turkey 101 is its normally in the dive bars too
WT 101 is my daily. I turned my nose up at budget bourbons for the longest, but when I tried the 101 I completely changed my mind. Rare Breed Barrell proof is quite good as well.
Evan Williams was my thing for a few years at one point
Interesting list. Some surprises, some you gotta be kidding, some daily drinkers, some gotta try and some never in my house! Thank you!
Canadian Mist Hobo shall be the name of my next D&D character.
the problem with being a Canadian hobo is it gets to -40c before wind chill and -70 with wind chill also trains just stop at places on the great plains and the driver gets on a different train leaving you 80 miles from any inhabited place or water for 7 weeks
Jameson is probably my all time favourite Irish whisky for "daily drink", especially IPA Edition that is in same price range here in Poland. For Bourbon I would go with Wild Turkey 101 :)
Have you tried Crested Ten? It's the 10 year old blended Jameson...you'll like!
@@AdrianMulligan Thanks! I will check it out for sure.
So many nights in college drinking 10-12 of the 20 shown. Good memories. I think. And Daniel operating power tools? Sober, I hope. GREAT look!
Kessler was the drink of choice for my best friends grandpa. Our VFW kept a bottle just for him. After he passed my friend had a shot of Kessler at our home town VFW for him. He also has a Kessler bar mirror in his garage for the same reason.
Southern Comfort - had too much of it in 1985. Have not touched it since. That should tell you something.
I love lots of whiskeys, but once in a while some fireball isn't too bad. Delightful sometimes.
Unpopular opinion time! Try Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire. It's a (...slightly) nicer version of Fireball. Maybe not for drinking straight, but mixing with apple cider is a cup of cold weather happiness :)
Agreed about Fireball sometimes. There is a more balanced one you might find called Flamethrower. It’s less candy like
I recently found a new favorite and it's Knob Creek Rye. It's extremely smooth and flavorful.
Very glad this was recommended to me. You guys are fantastic and are true fans of whiskey. You picked up a new subscriber
Kessler, I somewhat remember their motto on the bottle being "smooth as gravel"
I believe I remember seeing Black Velvet n Kessler in my parents house as a kid.
We always just held our thumb over the "ilk" so it was "Smooth As S"
I have had bars use something more expensive when I ask for "whiskey" just so they can charge me more when I close my tab out.....i'v learned to specify exactly what I want
10:14 I used to drink Soco 100 proof straight all the time, no mixer, no ice, lol.
You drink it neat - you are missing out. -love the channel!
Can't believe I hadn't seen this video before. I loved the talk about- you can express your opinions about a whiskey, but don't put down the person. The extension pole at the end was hilarious too.
The Jack rye is amazing that's my go to
