- A quiet walk around Mt. Kurama, just north of Kyoto city. To get there, you can take the Eizan railway from Demachiyanagi station to the last stop, Kurama station.

Snow falling in Kyoto city is a rare occurrence, a precious image that occurs only a few times a year, every year.
As you can see, many parts of Kyoto remain as they were in the past, so the streets are still narrow in many places.
It is said that it was 794 A.D. when the emperor moved the capital to Kyoto and built the capital”HEIAN-Kyo"
（the capital of named PEACE), so the city has existed here for about 1,230 years until now,
and people back then saw this scenery in the winter season just as you do now.
You picked the perfect time to go. So peaceful and at its prettiest.
I was tracking the weather for a week or so before going! I’m so glad it all worked out

That was beautiful! I love winter when it isn't too cold like it seems to be there. When the wind chill temps get to -30c to -50c like it is here where I am from, it's not too welcoming.😃
I can’t even imagine what -50c feels like, it must be intense! 😂 surprisingly on that day it was colder in Kyoto city than it was in the mountain town

Just an average of 8 inches of snow annually in Kyoto but it's enough to make for some stunning images. 😀 The sound of crunching snow brings the reality of the shivery cold. Thanks for putting up with cold and foggy glasses. 👍
Right haha. Just enough to be pretty but not interfere with commuting too much! I hope my breathing didn’t interfere with the crunchy snow sounds too much 🤣
There is no such thing as the most beautiful winter destination in Kyoto. From my perspective, all places look equally beautiful within the gorgeous city of Kyoto during every season.
