Biggs and Wedge are also recurring characters in Final Fantasy Series. They first made their debut in FF6. Currently the last recurring of Cid, Biggs and Wedge is in the current FF14 expansion shadowbringers. Yes I know their spots in shadowbringers is small but hey it the latest ff game they are in.

This is particularly true for me watching you play CK2. Sometimes I catch myself yelling at my screen: "No Jon, it's not a glitch! You just didn't read!"
Resident Evil 2, then this, someone's got talent to remake some of these old Playstation classics while A. Staying faithful to the original B. Really improving on the original. I played the demo and i am super excited for this game.
This remake is very polarising for me. I played the original just prior to entering Sixth Form, so around the age of 16-17 I guess. I had a hard time at school for many reasons and I lost myself in FFVII. I loved the world and characters. The story was ace, the universe it created was magical and full of hidden lore. I loved its battle mechanics, its graphical style, and the music; oh god that music. The game had charm, and while it was not my first JRPG it was my first on such an epic scale. It was a proper adventure. I played it through 100%, and I mean 100%; all weapons, all character stories, golden chocobo, all Master Materia, the works. Not a stone unturned. I can't recall how long it took me, but I didn't care. I was lost in that world and I loved it. I finsihed it, and pledged to myself to never play it again. There was no need to. I wanted to remember the game as it was then. Now, this remake, for me, takes away some of that charm. The more hack and slash combat which you seem to see everywhere, voice acting, no chance to rename characters, episodic release, and while the orchestral music is actually quite orgasmic, I can't help but remember how the original soundtrack sounded for the time. In that sense, and that sense alone, it sounded better. Charm. I feel that this lacks charm. I'm happy that younger generations of players will get a new take on this story, and for those that want to revisit the game can do so in glorious updated-vision. But for me... I would feel like I was cheating on the older title. Anyone else out there feel similar? EDIT, PS: RIP Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie.
I see it like different theater companies doing their version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It's going to be a different game. It can sometimes be heartbreaking to see them do something not as well, but it can also be delightful to see something new. Like Shinra blowing up their own plant recasts Avalanche as a bunch of incompetent losers. That little event changes Barret's whole character arc in a subtle way and it is delightful to see both versions. Just like when I've seen Juliet played as a mature woman who deliberately chooses love over politics and when I've seen her played as an impetuous young brat who leaps before she looks. Both are valid interpretations given the script, and it is wonderful for me to see both.

I'm a 100% certain this is going to be amazing! I'm only slightly worried the last episode won't be out until I'm 40. But I loved the OG, played it in my teen years for so many hours and this remake is a dream come true.
I absolutely adored this game as a child. I spent months trying to get past the first boss and years later when the disc finally began to die I set aside a whole day to finish it off in style. This remake looks awesome both from how it does the old game so much justice while being a whole new game worth playing! Also Jessie is adorable and I'm big gay for that...

I have to say I kind of dig this post video commentary. It's a neat perspective, plus it seems like a way to get to give more of a full commentary on something without the distractions of playing at the same time.
Bob Rudolph it is a full remake so very likely although I think that the story is either changed or expanded because the game will apparently be 2 episodes of 50 to 60 hours of gameplay don’t take my word for it tho
This first game only covers up to the Midgar escape, and you only have Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, and Aerith as playable. Red XIII is also in it, but only at the very end as a computer controlled party member.
I doubt all the characters will be in this first part, only the ones you meet in Midgar will be. The other characters will most likely be added in the games that deal with that part of the story.
RufusOmega I should have specified throughout the entire experience. I would expect only the midgar characters... should be interesting to see how summons were added to the midgar experience as well.
Yes they said the game is going to be the length of other Final Fantasy games so around 40-50 hours, I guess 60 hours depending on how you play but yes the game is only Midgar. So they took what is a 2 to 3 hour midgar in the original and turned it into a 40-50 hour game, which is pretty damn impressive. But they said the game is on two blu ray disc if you get it physically.
Cats eyes basically work like the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. They are exceptionally good at detecting movement but pretty bad at just seeing something still right in front of them.
I do find it.... interesting(?) that during all the cutscenes they added all the stereotypical little grunts and sighs you see in anime to extend 5 minutes of story into an hour long episode. 😂
Bought FF7 5-6 times already on different platforms/consoles, I can't even remember. Best version will always be the original on PC, running on 3DFX glide with a nice voodoo2 card & a creative labs soundblaster card with tons of midi channels. That shit was magic.
The first part is entirely in Midgar, but parts 2 and 3 are going to be more open world. Bear in mind that each part is going to be an entire 60-hour game.
It's more like the first three hours of a 60 hour game. This game is probably about a fourth of the way through Disc 1 of 3. But, Part 2 will probably barrel ahead much farther. Maybe even to the end of Disc 1!

It sounds better in Japanese - Kuraudo Sutoraifu its kind of name a samurai warrior would take, its cultural to romanticize them. It just goes all 80's action hero in the translation.

As someone who knows literally nothing whatsoever about Final Fantasy, this game is *not at all* what I thought it was. The gameplay, the story, the genre, everything wildly different than the turn based medieval fantasy rpg I was imagining.
As awesome as this game seems, I refuse to buy it till the ENTIRE original is remade, even if it takes years. Story continuity is very important to me.
I played through this demo earlier and wondered how long the video would be if you edited together all of Cloud's various anime fuck boi grunts. Probably about 30 seconds (of a 10 minute demo). My favourite is Cloud's teenager like sigh when Barrett insists he blows the bomb; "God! Fine! I'll do a terrorism, get off my back 'DAD'."
They aren't changing any of the important story parts. They have obviously expanded upon it quite a lot but ultimately the story will play out the same way.
Although I already watched an LP of the demo today this was still a delight, your comentary and those few seconds of the childhood scene were great, also you mentioned there’s a boss named Abzu so obligatory Ocean Man reference. I’m very intrigued by the 7R changes to Avalanche so that they’re not terrorists completely down with innocent casualties, the bomb was literally just to break the reactor not blow the whole place up, and I think in the full game that’ll be expanded on when we fight Shinra.
Being confused about having to use magic in a certain situation and then being proud of yourself for not doing so anyways later for the wrong reason is a new depth for the lack of perception thing. Even though the game was tutoring staggers at the first moment he was supposed to use magic, it's because a thunder spell would have maxed out the pressure gauge and caused an immediate stagger regardless of how much damage it would do be other types of attacks. 😒
@@imperiallarch7610 "Pressured" status is not the same thing as the stagger gauge increased, but while an enemy IS pressured, you get a multiplier to stagger growth. One of the reason why using Thunder might have seemed underwhelming to Jon is that at the time he used Thunder the enemy wasn't pressured, but it was pressured when he was attacking it earlier with regular attacks and Focused Thrust, making them seem relatively more effective (nonetheless, regardless of whether the tutorial there mentions it, Focused Thrust is also a good tactic for increasing stagger).

It's refreshing as an every-now-and-then, but part of Jon's charm is live-action commentary.

Feels like Square Enix are really adapting to the Star Ocean system despite never develope the franchise.
From what I read it's a closer mix of kingdom hearts, ff 12, ff13, and ff 15. SO's system is proximity based and strength level based.

They aren't changing any of the important story parts. They have obviously expanded upon it quite a lot but ultimately the story will play out the same way.

I’m very intrigued by the 7R changes to Avalanche so that they’re not terrorists completely down with innocent casualties, the bomb was literally just to break the reactor not blow the whole place up, and I think in the full game that’ll be expanded on when we fight Shinra.

Being confused about having to use magic in a certain situation and then being proud of yourself for not doing so anyways later for the wrong reason is a new depth for the lack of perception thing. Even though the game was tutoring staggers at the first moment he was supposed to use magic, it's because a thunder spell would have maxed out the pressure gauge and caused an immediate stagger regardless of how much damage it would do be other types of attacks. 😒
But when he met the same enemy later and cast Thunder it barely moved the pressure gauge at all? 20:45
@@imperiallarch7610 "Pressured" status is not the same thing as the stagger gauge increased, but while an enemy IS pressured, you get a multiplier to stagger growth. One of the reason why using Thunder might have seemed underwhelming to Jon is that at the time he used Thunder the enemy wasn't pressured, but it was pressured when he was attacking it earlier with regular attacks and Focused Thrust, making them seem relatively more effective (nonetheless, regardless of whether the tutorial there mentions it, Focused Thrust is also a good tactic for increasing stagger).
