Hey, gotta commend a guy for being able to make a job out of writing overly analytical high school literary analysis papers, and make them actually interesting.
I used to feel like this, too, until I thought about how long it actually takes to make things like this. There's a lot of original animation on the OP, rather than just slapped together shots from the episodes. Consider that they had to write, storyboard, key and animate all of that, taking (at least) dozens of hours and actively deciding "hey, should we draw that cabinet in the background for this 1 second shot?". Then, consider that these people are good enough at what they do to work at a high tier company in an industry so popular that everybody gets shit salaries, and they're so dedicated that they stay in spite of it. Then, consider that they may have waited years for a chance to work on a show like this instead of the same old "_____ in another world's high school with my idol group's bad dialogue" and you can see why some pretty smart and talented people might've obsessed over this 90 second video and reveled in packing every bit of it with meaning using every trick in the bag they've spent two, three, four decades filling.
Honestly it's not entirely about doing it on purpose. Analysing things like these is just explaining why certain things invoke and makes you feel a certain way and think of something. For example, If i wanted to make a scary scene, I'd probably make the scene dark. I wouldn't really put much thought into this but If you analyse why I did that, it's because darkness invoke uncertainty and implies ominousity because that is the connotation that darkness has. The idea of uncertainty creates fear and tension. This is basically what analysis is. Even if something wasn't intentional and not much thought was put into it, it has a reason why it's there.
(Spoilers for episode 12) Pretty sure that the cats are the real symbolism in the Kaede shot. The blotches on the cat on the right look pretty similar to the ones Kaede develops as a result of puberty syndrome, and the two cats (one smaller than the other) mirror Kaede's twin set of memories.
@@null5137 Sad, yes, but there's also some happiness in the fact that Kaede-chan was able to achieve all but 1 of the goals she set, and the original Kaede will be accomplishing that final goal of returning to school (during school hours) on Kaede-chan's behalf. I find it sort of poetic that Kaede-chan was able to make great strides in the process of healing Kaede as a whole, but it's up to OG Kaede to take that final step and prove that she's overcome her phobia. With that said, I think Kaede-chan disappeared feeling fulfilled and without regrets because she was able to accomplish all the goals specific to that personality (like going to see the pandas at the zoo; remember OG Kaede doesn't seem to have any particular interest in pandas). She could sense that it was time for OG Kaede to return and she was ready (even if her brother and we the audience were not).

Agree. Just imagine got your sister back who is gone for a while but in the same time losing the other sister too. (Kaede have 2 consciousness = have 2 kaede)
Interesting theory on Shoko, but that's not what I think's going on. My money's on time travel - she's come back from a future in which she attends Sakuta's high school (maybe even after being inspired to go by Sakuta himself, in a nice bit of circularity), which is why he can't find her or any records of her when he checks. Aside from making more sense than her randomly obtaining a random high school uniform for no reason if she's stuck in a middle school body (not to mention that Sakuta clearly read her as a high school student), this also explains why Shoko doesn't know anything about the letter she sends to Sakuta in ep. 11. As to why she's doing it... maybe her puberty syndrome comes from extreme nostalgia or something?
The Kaede's arc hit me hard. Just imagine got your sister back who is gone for a while but in the same time losing the other sister too. (Kaede have 2 consciousness = have 2 kaede)

@@vickytsurka8109 It's also exclusive to a new and expensive streaming service, so one of the most anticipated Yuri anime adaptations in recent memory is sadly falling under the radar for most people.
At 13:45 i view the last montage as foreshadowing each arc's conclusion. Mai finger gunning the screen is her challenging life head on rather than hiding from it. Plus she's doing it at school and probably aiming at Sakuta for embarrassing her in front of the entire school. Futaba is showing a serious expression in the after hours of school similar to where she has her chat with Sakuta about her life. There are no reflections in this shot showing her alone with no more doppelgangers, even though she is standing in front of a glass cabinet that could have held one. Nodoka is giving it her all as an idol instead of half-assing it. Koga is leaning on the railing where she is confronted by Sakuta and is looking out to sea with a smile on her face. She's looking out to the future with a smile rather than worrying about it. Plus there's a very distinct lack of her smartphone she's normally glued to, the source of her unending stress. Kiede's I'm not sure about as her arc hasn't concluded yet but she's sitting on her usual couch giving her usual bright smile up towards, I'm assuming, her brother. There's also a lack of cats that her shots usually include, not sure if that's significant or not though.
One mistake though, the scene where he falls on to the ground is actually from Kaede's arc. It happens next to a forest but the action is identical so you can't consider them different.
This is one of the very few OP's that I'll actually watch every time it pops up. Usually I'll sit through it the first time then skip it every other but this, Sasaegyo, Skyreach and Konosuba's second opening I will never skip
Have you ever thought about doing a video on the quality of other countries dubS of anime? I’ve always found the idea fascinating. Imagine their being a Finnish studio that’s pours it’s hearts into perfectly adapting anime. Just a thought
Waffles The Wookie I remember reading one time a few years back on Reddit that the Russian dub of The World God Only Knows is crazy good and passionate, like better than the English one. I wouldn’t know, never watched that show in any language, but that’s possibly an example to look into.
Waffles The Wookie Dread. I watched Digimon when it first aired here. And even technically good Finnish dubs always feel a bit off to me, with the possible exception of the Moomins.
Finally a man with taste. Personally, the OP is too upfront pushy for me. The ED is smooth like Wotakoi's OP (Fiction) and has this weird ominous illusion-feel to it and is just very easy to listen too. Also in the full version with all the girls, the harmony in all their voices is just really pleasing to the ear.
just saying, Shoto dropping his bag is from when he confesses his love to the whole school and him falling and catching himself on the railing is from when Kaedo gets her memories back.
Hi Geoff. I remember you commenting on Mumkey Jones' recent video about how he had to call the police on his alcoholic friend. I have no idea what your relationship at this point is with him, maybe you'd just had that one video recommended to you, but Mumkey Jones last week lost all his channels for satirical videos he'd made over a year ago about Elliot Rodger, a 2014 mass shooter. His videos would be comedic about content from Elliot Rodger's manifesto, while also providing in-depth analyses on it. They had been manually approved before over a year ago, but were immediately given 6 strikes a few days ago to nuke both of his biggest channels. TH-cam has updated its terms of service to ban "sensationalist" content, which is so vague that it basically means that TH-cam can ban anyone they don't like. He tried to make his already-made Let's Play channel his main channel, but TH-cam banned that as well without any strikable content, meaning that he as a person is banned from TH-cam. He is an example that anyone at any time can be banned permanently and lose what they've made as their livelihood without any warning.
@@TheTubePoweredOne It was more just nervousness about TH-cam's ability to ban creators without them having done wrong by the website's guidelines. I would post to comment sections of famous TH-camrs who knew of him (although I myself love MB videos!). Since then, this banned TH-camr made a new channel without much pushback. Still makes me nervous how little job stability creators have on this platform.
Something great in this anime is attention to detail in the animation, which many do not notice but are there to create the atmosphere and even a realism. Like Futaba blinking her eyes while chatting, Mai staring at the Sakuta in the scene of the fight at the station, but out of focus, and many other things I did not get why I'm inattentive.
Not to mention that JoJo's Part 5 is the by far the most experimental of Araki's work due to his shifting designs and outlines for the series. Giorno is just such a blasé JoJo, and his background as to why feels so tacked on. Spoilers following, read at your own risk. *Begin Spoiler:* Giorno being born from DIO's head on Jonathan Joestar's body indeed makes him a true, legit JoJo heir. Those balls ain't DIOs, in other words. *End Spoiler* But that's such a..well, *stupid* choice for Araki compared to all his other choices and decisions. If it weren't Araki, it would pass muster, but because it *is* Araki,...Just, no. He could've done better. I just feel that Series 5 is Araki trying to create something new out of what he had, and we're seeing the growing pains that eventually give us the glorious Series 6 which is - by far - one of the best JoJo arcs. As a whole, Part 5 is probably in the middle somewhere of the pack. It takes a lot more risks than the previous Parts, and some pay off while others wind up just not making sense. Araki obviously noticed all this which is why Part 6 is regarded so highly; because he fixed what needed to be fixed and kept what needed to be kept. Now, a lot of people like Part 5, and more power to them. But personally, and from a standpoint of looking at the whole of the current JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Part 5 just simply isn't as great as the later Parts or even some of the earlier Parts like Part 2 or 4.
I just realized, that you can see sakuta throw his Phone into the Ocean in the OP. I thougth he was simply punching the air, but I saw some weird box-like stuff and realized that it's actually his Phone, flying into the Ocean

Kaede best imouto
Still cant believe people call her (and him) a toned down senjo and araragi. They feel complelty different
Didn’t expect that to happen, but same man, Mai is great and her relationship with Sakuta is fantastic
Downson Jerome woooow you really want to fight?
Bunny Girl is the only good example of clickbait.
Lol true
Quite similar to Your name trope, that's totally possible
*SPOILERS*
Yep, she's a time traveler. As for why she does it, well... Just wait for the movie or read the LN.

My favorite too!
Amen best anime of the season by far

It's already getting quite a bit of attention. It's number 2 Autumn 2018 anime on MAL in terms of viewers, for crying out loud.
@@Skallva and its well deserved, imo. To think it jumped to an 8.63 currently, starting from a score of barely 8 when it first aired. 3 episodes in sold me completely, and I look forward to every Wednesday for the newest episode. I've been invested in pretty much every character they introduce (Kamisato is still a b*tch), which is something that I haven't experienced in a while
Episode 6,10 and 11 are definitely episodes the solidifies my belief that this anime should be anime of the year and everyone should watch it
Ikcatcher and episode 3
What about episode 3?
Episode 11 has all of the feels. I cried as much as Sakuta.
Only Cautious Hero reveal made me cry that hard in recent memory.

A few episodes later: *Imagine me in a pile of research papers in a room just to know why it happens to them*
Wish he would have made one more video after the movie. The movie literally explained so much. Even made me cry, and again all those Sakuta run scenes were covered around Shoko in the last arc of the anime and in the movie
Yep
I got a Funimation ad for Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai halfway through the video. COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT

That's TH-cam algorithm actually working
I think so, Yeh that was a coincidence
I wish I got anime ads but I mainly watch car stuff

You need to do WIAOP on Bloom Into You! There is so much hidden symbolism in it that I'm sure you can make it into a video.

You can watch it on VRV now, though
yes Yes YEs YES YYYEEESSS
I never thought u could make 3/2min op to 15 min video

They also don't over use it, draw tons of attention to it, and it never over stays it's welcome
Anyone gonna mention this show isn't about bunny girls...
And i love it:)
Gigguk ?
I'm almost certain that Sakuta said that he threw his phone in the ocean when Mai or Futaba asks why he doesn't have a cellphone
One mistake though, the scene where he falls on to the ground is actually from Kaede's arc. It happens next to a forest but the action is identical so you can't consider them different.

Absolutely
Have you ever thought about doing a video on the quality of other countries dubS of anime? I’ve always found the idea fascinating. Imagine their being a Finnish studio that’s pours it’s hearts into perfectly adapting anime. Just a thought
Waffles The Wookie I remember reading one time a few years back on Reddit that the Russian dub of The World God Only Knows is crazy good and passionate, like better than the English one. I wouldn’t know, never watched that show in any language, but that’s possibly an example to look into.
Oh god, even the thought of Finnish dubbed anime gives me goosebumps.
Mikko Simonen out of joy or out of dread?
Waffles The Wookie Dread. I watched Digimon when it first aired here. And even technically good Finnish dubs always feel a bit off to me, with the possible exception of the Moomins.
Mikko Simonen thank you. This is the kind of information I’m seeking, and also why I want someone to make a video on it

Why in the world is this comment here? What's the point of it?
@@TheTubePoweredOne It's dated.
@@cherriegetison6093 Well I mean yeah, but why make this appeal at all, let alone on a video dissecting the OP of Aobuta? I'm just curious is all.

@@2LNO Kaede, and Kaede-san.

*End Spoiler*
But that's such a..well, *stupid* choice for Araki compared to all his other choices and decisions.
