I got confused on one part of the movie(sorry if I don’t word this right) but when sakuta was waiting by the light to see if he was going to get hit by the car, did shoko purposely lead him to the crash because that’s where she wanted to met at the enoshima lights or was she trying to lead him away in some way and if so how then, I need details please
Brian Lopez she was trying to save him by trying to trick him into going to somewhere other than the Enoch ima lights because that’s where the car crash would be
Mpgow but if that was the case then why did she and mai both say they wanted to go there if that’s the place the crash was going to happen, that’s what I’m kinda confused about
Mpgow and also at the end of the movie when they take a stroll through the beach, does mai not have all her memories of sakuta? Because she acts like she doesn’t remember the times they spent
@@Chitos25 I explain the car crash scene and why they both choose the two places, please watch that part again, and try pausing at the parts that confuse you. For the second comment, not everyone keeps their memories exactly the same. Instead, every character experiences different 'dream effects', where Sakuta remembered moments through dreams, and Mai was influenced to play a major role in a movie about a girl waiting for an organ transplant.
Moral of the story: Always do your homework cuz you will never know that you might get a heart disease and need a heart donor so you can fulfill your life
I don’t cry often but the sheer emotion from Mai’s death nearly made me stop watching. And then this movie turned into avengers endgame and kept me in it
@@mpgow best girl always lose. (but since Mai was already established to the fans. I'm sure she's the acclaimed best girl). But for me Shoko is the best girl.
To make is simple, the whole anime movie and series are just a future simulation dreamed by the 4th grade Shoko. So it is safe to say that the present time is stucked in the 4th grade Shoko dreaming plus trying to finish her homework. (Remember the Anime movie.title has "dreaming girl" in the last part). Because Shoko's puberty syndrome is a combined Koga Tomoe and Rio Futaba's syndrome. The 4th grade Shoko is scared of growing up because shes scared of dying, but part of her wishes to grow this causes her body to split. The Shoko who was afraid of growing up ended up moving forward in time faster due to the theory of relativity. She can move freely in any timeline from depressed Sakuta 2 years ago to Sakuta 2 years later. Note: The whole series is neither present or real because it is just a simulation of the 4th grade Shoko due to her Puberty syndrome. Again; the present is with the 4th grade Shoko dreaming her future. Later on, Sakuta also suffered in the same condition with Shoko since he was in a huge dillema and he too is scared of moving forward because one out of three should inevitably die: Shoko, Mai and Sakuta. In order to fix everything, Shoko redo everything and went back to her 4th grade self, answered he assignment which causes her not to develop Puberty Syndrome and avoid meeting Sakuta. She know how to avoid this because she know the future. So all the events simulated by Shoko in the future became a dream. It ended up in reality that Sakuta have been seeing Shoko via dream. So when he saw Shoko, he recognize her. Edit (additional): The whole thing we saw in the Anime series have all become the reality of Mai, Sakuta, Kaede, Nodaka, Tomoe and Futaba (Which means everything happened for real). Everything happened except for the meeting of Shoko and Sakuta. Every memory that Sakuta had about Shoko in simulation have become a dream. To sum that up, Sakuta dreaming about Makinohara causes him to go to the same school with Mai and Futaba (Then everything in anime series fall into place). Its really sad that Shoko Makinohara had to sacrifice and forget her memories for Sakuta and everybody's sake. Salute to this best girl Shoko Makinohara.
@@mpgow though it wasnt that well expalined, I found out understanding something like this is awesome. Now I have the reason to study Quantum Entanglement, Quantum Teleportation and Theory of Relativity.
@@mpgow @Mpgow can you clarify one thing for me: Because the movie and anime series all played in the future simulation of fourth grade Shoko who is in the present, does that mean that all the things which have happend in the anime (or also: simulation) also happend in "new" real world aka present time line then? Because Mai and Sakuta are in love again and Kaede being afraid to go to school as a result of the the cyberbully give me hope that all the anime series wasn't just "a forgettable dream" or a "fade memory". What I just want to know is if the stories and plot of the anime series has also happend in the new present at the end of the movie, in which Shoko is healthy and alive. Because i can't sleep well thinking that the couple might have lost all the memories and friends and achievements gained over those 13 episodes , therefore only having each other left. Sorry for the bad English.
@@audentesfortunaiuvat287 Don't worry, it's a happy ending! You're correct when you say the series played out normally. You see, the 'dream effect' on Sakuta influenced him to do everything all over again, just without needing to meet college Shoko at the beach to guide him. So yes, everything is as usual, just the meeting of Shoko is moved to that Winter.
@@lazistonec5114 woah woahwoah, calm down! You'll want to watch everything, trust me. The anime is sort of a long setup for the plot twists in the movie, and the relationships from the anime only encourage stronger reactions. Don't spoil the movie for yourself anymore if possible, go watch it!!! :D
@@doruk7516 You've already spent your time watching the anime, and building a connection with the show+characters, pay for your future, and watch the movie instead of spoiling it for yourself, you won't regret it!
I like how everyone who watched the movie is like "im depressed and in pieces." Like i can understand u feeling that way allllll the way up until the end with the whole mai dying thing and more, i was hurting that bad too. But once u get to the end then u should be relieved and ecstatic that everything ultimately worked out for everyone. Mai alive, they have a good relationship, shouto alive and healthy. Its beautiful honestly
Well, I think that you can still get a little scarred XD but I agree that there was a happy ending (whether or not it was for the best is up for debate)
i think the Mai scene just messed me up so bad that even tho everything worked out in the end for all parties, the fact that she laid her life down for Sakuta really got me. Like i just finished the movie a few hours ago but i still feel stressed bro haha
Mpgow I want them to make more light novels for a season too bc the only reason they haven’t confirmed anything yet is bc there is not enough source material
So in the end, it was all because of Mai's movie performance and Sakuta's frequent donations to hospitals that gave exposure and awareness to Shoko's heart condition, and thus Shoko finally had a heart donor and was saved.
Actually, after re-watching episode 1 and the movie sign in the train, I wonder if Shoko Makinohara will become an actress like Mai Sakurajima because it was Mai's performance that saved her life by generating enough people to become a heart donor. (The movie states that the film was so moving that people cried when they saw it so it's the equivalent of the "Top Gun" effect for organ donors which is possible since in HK and the East they do tie in movies for charities and the stars do it pro bono).
After like 2,3 year ago since last time i watch ep 6 when its come out today i decide to finish s1 then continue with the movie ... oh boi the knife from s1 still stuck on my heart and them girls be like how bout not 1 but 2 more knife ... 10/10 Pain, No regret will do it again
So basically they went back into the present and the present Shoko knew everything that would happen and ended up finishing the homework therefore not affecting the future and ended up surviving because of the movie and found a donor
Yes but how does Sakuta remember shoko in the end of the movie?? If Shoko finshed her homework than how do they both have their memories of each other in the new timeline?
@Bob Slob explanation @ 8:12 . but basically, both “future” sakuta and shoko (the ones we see in the majority of the movie) successfully send their current memories to their “present” ones (the ones we see at the end) but as dreams. n then when they meet at the end, ig they realise the dreams were real/the memories or something like idk lmao
Moral of the story: Always finish your homework. Seriously though, great explanation. You cleared so much up so many questions I had so simply, good job!

I just finished watching the movie and immediately searched up for the explanation because i thought this movie was too good that i should be able to perfectly understand the timeline and stuff so that i could appreciate it more. And you did just that, your explanation was excellent, i thank you so much. . . There is, however, something that i'm still confused about. If the actual "present" was the one in which shoko was only a 4th grader, and the 7th grader shoko was the manifestation of her adolescent syndrome (which was her being anxious about her future), then why was even there a college girl shoko to begin with?
That’s a good question! And I think this post below has a good explanation about what Shoko’s adolescent syndrome is: www.reddit.com/r/SeishunButaYarou/comments/e7zwmn/comment/fa8x7sb hopefully this helps!
To make is simple, the whole anime movie and series are just a future simulation dreamed by the 4th grade Shoko. Mai-san is honestly the only female anime Ive never for a second got annoyed at. Her maturity and love language. Her being unspoiled. Her being soo understanding with the whole pretendcouple and even with the threat of Sakuta’s first love, she never threw girlfriend tantrums but expressed her jealousy outright. I get frustrated at some female leads who acts immaturely or all too shy but Mai-san, her confidence in her feelings for Sakuta and His love for her is just so steadfast. I believe her when she said She loves Sakuta more than he knows. Those understandings and her ultimate sacrifice were proof. I was conflicted at the end with Sakuta’s reaction when he recognized Shouko and her to him. But I feel like this was the best so it wont drag him and his curiosity in the future of who that girl in his dream is. I feel like instead of love, it’s just compassion and sense of responsibility what he has for Shokou now. If I knew I could save someone’s life by sacrificing my own, that will scar me forever. If I chose the selfish path, id forever regret and wonder and of course if Id sacrifice, at least I saved someone but who can blame you if you chose to live and love right? One complain I have tho is a kissing scene!!!
The odd thing about Mai Sakurajima and Shoko Makinohara in contrast with girls like Tomoe Koga and Rio Futaba? Both girls are conservative traditionalists at heart - proper Yamato Nadeshiko types - and probably why the fan base loves them. Mai and Sakuta kissing scene? *cough* Volume 3: Logic Witch *cough* After Rio makes curry *cough*
When Mai died and when her heart was donated to shoko, I’d thought that he’ll fulfill the promise of making Mai happy by making shoko happy, since Mai’s heart is in shoko now.
I appreciate you illuminating some dark areas for us. This story was so compelling. Moved to tears. It has literally changed the way I live my life. We cannot go back to the past.. i originally thought when i watched the first episode that the series was gonna end with mai being in his imagination boy how wrong i was anyways ur the best dude i was a little confused but i understood most of the movie
TBH, Mai’s death made me way sadder than I expected because jumping in front of the car showed how she really felt. That was probably the biggest piece of character development to happen in a split-second.
I effing broke up because of their train ride talk - I knew she was *desperate* for Sakuta not to do it because she knew he would do it and kept telling him not to hate her but I thought she was talking about trying to change his mind by running as far of the city as possible but it was because she already made up her mind to save him from himself if he didn't. T_T The future Sakuta telling Mai that he will sort it out and to wait for him made me shed another tear because he did what he said he would do in episode 1 if she was about to break down from not existing and she lets him do it! T_T
It’s weird how two of my favorite anime (bunny girl senpai) and (haruhi) the main character chooses to go to their high school because of someone they will know in the future time traveling to the past/ having puberty syndrome wearing the uniform for that high school and when the main character tries to search them up in the school’s registry not being there because they have not existed yet (sorry if this is confusing)
A scenario I actually wanted to see was if Sakuta was actually run over and Mai survived just like the timeline that future Shoko came from. But in this one, we get to see Mai try to fix everything instead of Sakuta. Idk but this scenario just interests me since we would get more Mai screentime.
As Mpgow said, nah, because Sakuta cracking up at Mai's death was brutal. Mai "I love him more than he knows" cracking up would be tantamount to torture and - knowing her - she would take the fall instead of him anyway on the day because she knows Sakuta would *never* let a young girl die when he could save her and it would be the guarantee that he lives. I mean look at that station scene when she already knows out that Sakuta from the future has spoken to Sakuta in the present - she *still* goes to the date because she's frantic that present Sakuta will kill himself because he knows Mai will take his place. Love can make people go crazy but sorrow can make them crazier.
i cried when shoko confessed to sakuta about his dreams and the ending dude. and just before that i was saying to myself i wont cry then f dude i cried so hard dude this movie is beautiful.
all people who dropped this series completely missed out on this amazing work and the genius that is put into it. The dialogues aren't over the top but you can see that a lot of thought was given. Wasn't bored the entire time because quite frankly, this series and the movie gave my brain an exercise. The Picture Drama that came after the series doesn't contribute to the whole time travel plot but it's a nice treat from the producers and VAs
I think they should have included the Drama CD where Shoko and Mai are staying at the flat and Kaede is telling her brother that he needs to rein in the women because they are going to start a war. XD
One of the parts that I wish they included in the movie is that when Sakuta meets the Shoko with Mai's heart (the Shoko after the accident) they never explain that she is actually from a future where she marries Sakuta. It's a beautiful moment in the light novel and really hits you in the feels when you realize that despite that future she gets to live with the one she loves, she denies stripping the joy that Mai gave him and still returns to make things right.
I have no idea tbh, I honestly was holding in the pain when Sakuta notices Shouko's wedding ring. This single act is why I can see Shouko truly competing with Mai as waifu of the series. Of course though Mai is simply best in my eyes since I get to witness how she loves and expresses herself.
Wow. Really glad to know this. Oh by the way was the ending is planned by Shoko all along? I mean she surely try 10000 of scenario but it didn't work then she gave up and decide to sacrifice herself then accidentally found out that by finished that homework finally there is a timeline where all of them will be alive and meet again at the beach? ps. People tend to believe that by finishing the homework she will not gain the ability to simulate the alternate timeline so she doesn't know the outcome and only accept her fate but since she sent back her memory to her younger self can't that knowledge make her able to simulate the "let see what happened if i finishing the homework" also? Or the Author really explained that Shoko truly sacrifice herself but luckily this new timeline is happened to be the one she stays alive
Well it's explained in the following light novel more thoroughly why Shouko lives, it's only hinted at in the light novel she's featured in. Since everyone has fading memories of all of their timelines, middle school Mai had decided to star in the movie where she plays the girl with a heart disease (because she made the choice to save a life through organ donorship in the previous timeline) rather than that scary movie that really made her famous back in the day. In her choosing the heart disease movie, it inspired more people in Japan to sign up for organ donorship programs and that's why Shouko ends up getting someone else's heart rather than our main cast. So you could argue that Shouko indirectly saved herself but it was really that since she had made such a heroic impact of Sakuta and Mai that she deserves to experience the joys that is life and be over her adolescence syndrome. It's not some high IQ play, moreso the author believing that these characters shouldn't suffer such sad fates when they went to the ends of what they could do to help people that they care about.
Shouko's timeline to me is the peak of this show/LN Series. It's something that has so much genuity I haven't found in a series before. You can really feel that the majority of the characters would straight die for their friends and the others that they love. I believe it's more impactful in a setting like this where we aren't in mystical/fantasy setting where death is a huge common occurrence. It personally makes this all the more impactful to me. This series is very impactful for me, I can't wait until all of the light novels are released in English. I want to be able to really judge if any of the BGS arches come close to the character development and expansion that is the Shouko arch. Anyways, enough of my rambling lol. Hopefully my comment(s) were helpful.
Both the anime and the movie were really good. I like how you explain it, it's simple and also logical. This clears up all my questions from the movie. Thank you! 😊
This is so much to handle at once, I had to rewatch the video three times but I think if finally get the gist of the movie. I’m at least happy that there was the perfect ending to it all. Hopefully a season 2 will come out that covers what happens post beach ending of the movie. Great video!
Actually, due to the dream effect, the entirety of season 1 is repeated in the new timeline with minor differences such as Shoko not meeting Sakuta as an adult at the beach.
@@mpgow wait so in this new timeline the Shoko we see at the beach did meet Sakuta before or no? also is the Shoko we see at the end of the movie in the grade?

Well, I mention it in my pinned comment, but in short, the dreams Sakuta has influenced him to do everything again and become a kinder person without having to meet HS Shoko on the beach. Hope this helps, thanks for the good question :)
Shoko was the one who started it all unknowingly, all oh the events happens cuz of shoko, but it was on all on her dreams, hence the title. Rascal does not dream of dreaming girl. Meaning, it never happened in realtime the moment shoko had done her assignment. Sakuta was just entangled.
I felt dead inside when it was mai san's funeral and suddenly that interview appears on the screen where she says, "i love him more than he thinks" and then he went outside crying for help.😔😢
Has to be one of the best anime’s I’ve seen. Started to simple and became more complex and intertwining than most shows ever. Had a lil cry when Mai sacrificed herself but glad I stuck it out until the end ❤️
This is kinda my understanding of the events. So we have four time lines and the anime and start of the movie takes place in the second time. So time line 1 all events happen in the anime however there’s no shoko makinohara as she hasn’t time traveled yet. I believe this because it’s established that Sakuta Azusagawa dies in a car crash going on a date with Mai Sakurajima which means for him to be at the car crash the bunny girl ark must have happened so they would end up dating and then car crash happens and Shoko gets Sakuta’s heart. Timeline 2 Shoko after living a bit more of her life travels back in time and observes Sakuta and helps him during his times of need like with the Kaede ark but this lead to her becoming fond of Sakuta so she tells him how he’s going to die to try and save him however because of that Sakuta doesn’t want Shoko to die so tries to get into the car crash after realising what Shoko had done in trying to save him but Mai sees and pushes him out of the way so Shoko gets Mai’s heart instead which leads to future Shoko helping Sakuta to time travel which leads to time line three. Time line three Sakuta saves himself from the car crash so Mai doesn’t die which means Shoko doesn’t have a heart transplant. In this timeline it’s also hinted at that strong emotions carry over as dreams by Rio Futaba dreaming about Sakuta morning the death of Mai and Nodoka Toyohama dreaming of Mai being in an accident. In this timeline Shoko decides she’s put Sakuta throgh too much hardship so decides to time travel one last time back to when she was doing her homework future task. Timeline 4 the one where in now and hopefully for the rest of the story. Shoko completes her homework assignment stoping the time travel puberty syndrome from manifesting which basically creates a timeline like the first timeline however both Sakuta and Mai have a connection to the other timelines just like with Rio and Nodoka in the third timeline. This is why Sakuta has dreams of second timeline adult Shoko and Mai has a compulsion to star in a movie about heart disease that leads to Shoko getting a heart transplant and potentially to why despite no longer knowing about the car crash in previous timelines both Sakuta and Mai are alive as the dream might have influenced a change in date location in this final timeline. And well this was everyone wins no one dies and we get to move on to a potential season 2 hopefully next year. Personally i think this is the turn of events because it explains how Sakuta and Mai meet with out Shoko in the final timeline because it establishes that the first timeline which we don’t see and only have mentioned in one line of the movie and it kinda solves some of the discussion I’ve seen on these comments about if the movie completely erases the anime’s multiple plot arks as this way of looking at events shows that the prior arks happen regardless of Shoko’s involvement
I've thought about this a lot, and this is the conclusion I've come to: There are three shokos total; the youngest, the middle, and the oldest. The youngest (4th grade, present day shoko) doesn't know what to fill out on her homework, so she dreams of a simulated world where she gets older (the middle shoko) and experiences regrets and desires. Everything that the simulated middle shoko wants to do (graduate high school, get married, meet a nice boy, etc.) gets transmitted back to the youngest, and the youngest writes it down. This hw paper updates within the simulation (which explains why the paper keeps changing as the movie goes on). Everything written by 4th grade shoko manifests into all of the actions oldest shoko takes via puberty syndrome. Oldest shoko only exists within the simulation, and only exists to live out all of her younger shokos' desires/regrets from passing on too early. Because everything is a simulation, oldest shoko does not exist in a linear timeline within that world. (its like a puberty syndrome within a simulated world; a puberty syndrome within a puberty syndrome). Therefore, oldest shoko is able to do everything that 4th grade shoko wants to do, regardless of time in the simulation. And everything that 4th grade shoko wants to do is based off of what the middle experiences, desires and regrets. The movie establishes multiple timelines within the simulation itself. The first, i believe, is that sakuta dies on the 24th while on a date with Mai, thus saving middle shoko allowing her to grow into oldest shoko. The second timeline is that older shoko (with sakuta's heart) regrets not spending time with sakuta, so her regrets allow her to travel in between time within the simulation to do so. It can be interpreted, then, that the middle wants to lessen sakuta's suffering because he died for her. You could also say that the middle falls in love with him, so she wants nothing more than to make him happy. So the youngest writes down what she wants to do, and the oldest shoko acts within the simulation; often going in between timelines to do what she sets out to do. This is how the oldest shoko (with sakutas heart) is able to exist with the living sakuta. This is how the oldest shoko meets sakuta on the beach for the first time. This explains why the oldest shoko tries to trick sakuta into avoiding the car crash the day he's meant to die (she either wanted to save him because she loves him or she didn't want him to miss out on his own happiness in life... or both). It's a working theory, and imma edit this if i can think of anything else.
Side note: i wonder if one of middle shokos regrets is not spending enough time with Sakuta. Thus, the 4th grade shoko writes and wills the oldest shoko to spend as much time with him as she can.
@@Lucas30 I love hearing other people's theories!! I read it all, and I agree that the older Shokos wanted to spend more time with Sakuta before the car crash, and that she went 'back in time' to guide Sakuta so that he would live on. However, I think it is possible that the futute Shoko is still the first Shoko, just remember that she's a simulation, and she realized she wanted to help Sakuta after how much he supported her in the hospital, which is why she would be willing to influence his actions to save him.
Thanks for this explanation, EM! Not that fantasy necessarily needs to make perfect sense-you nevertheless were able to prove that the ending and “time/memory travel” elements were well-crafted by the author and make sense within the constraints of this series. I REALLY enjoyed the Rascal series and movie and am happy to see so many others appreciated them too!
Thank you for the compliment :) Although it seems a lot of people needed a little bump in the right direction to understand it, so I'm you and others got something out of the time I spent theorizing what happened.
the ending was good enough, but still have a lot of questions, it's like when you have just enough food to no longer be starving, but not enough to feel completely satisfied. but sadly not enough extra source material for a season 2 plus they said they wouldnt do more animated things i think. maybe in a few years or maybe they will make an ova or a second movie. also really wanna see them kiss they kept baiting us grr
This means that there are different timelines and realities; this uncovers a sad truth. (correct me if I'm wrong.) The reality where Mai died, Sakuta died and Shoko died, were not erased, they're still there and their timeline is still running. The reality where Mai died was the whole series that the anime has been showing us, and it was trashed just like that (because shoko had to go to the past, and the anime now have to focus on that timeline). Overall still a good anime.
The reality where Mai died wasn’t real though. It was just a simulation in shokos mind. Technically sakuta and Mai haven’t even met yet when this occurred.
As guner jax pointed out, the other timelines were basically phased out once Shoko fixed the timelines by going back to 4th grade and ending her syndrome!
@@mpgow It's been almost exactly a year since I watched Dreaming Girl in theaters. And thanks to your movie, my admiration for Shouko just became stronger. This is why indeed all girls in the Bunny-Girl Senpai universe, save perhaps for Kunimi's girlfriend, are Best Girls. There's no one Best Girl, since they all help and support each other in one way or another: whether through familiar ties like Mai and Nodoka or Sakuta and Kaede, or as close friends like Futaba and Sakuta and Kunimi, or as an inspiration to grow into a better person like Tomoe and Sakuta, and of course Shouko and Sakuta to each other like a Möbius strip. Though if I were really to choose one, it would be Mai-san. No doubts. Her willingness to die for Sakuta to save Shouko's future was just so resounding. Personally I had times when I almost made that same choice, or chose something similar that it damaged me in the end.
Honestly iam more in love with this series and the movie after getting my head clear by u...iam so glad that I got to watch this video...u r a great person...❤️❤️❤️

LN, Manga and Anime Story Writers are the best.. They make stories that is so beautiful.. Anime producers gives us the emotions, feelings on the LN or Manga... I love Japan
Dream is a funny way to put it, Idk if it's just the definition being lost in translation, or if the dream is just a sideways way of thinking about it. However, the dilemma is very similar to a dream. It was described as projection, or possible future of Shoko's!! She does, "wake up" to what she believes she must do though :P
After watching your TH-cam Video and reading through some of the Comments, everything starts to make sense. From Top to Bottom everything is clear now. You are an absolute Goat rn I never put so much thought into a story of an Anime lmao
Remember When Mai And Sakuta Were At The Train Station? When Mai Cried It Broke My Heart ... I'm not the type of dude that cries a lot but damn seeing her face like that made me tear up : ( just want s2 tbh
Ive also been wondering at the beginning of the anime when mai is in the bunny suit no one can see her except sakuta and when sakuta goes back in time no one can see him except koga so would this mean that mai went back in time as well and if os for what reason
Z3PHTER it’s an interesting theory, but the reason people became invisible was because of their relations to quantum mechanics. Time travel messes with being half present, half past, and Mai was invisible because people began to forget about her virtually, and thus began disappearing in real life to those who forgot about her existence!! Hope this helps you understand the movie a bit more
Having read the light novels and then going back to watch this, one detail that I felt important and not in the movie was future Shouko with Mai's heart was wearing a wedding ring. Sakuta noticed, figured it out and even wanted her to pass a message onto his future self in this Shouko's future to "make your adorable bride the happiest person in the world." She did say earlier that, "she always wanted to get married in college!"
i’m still confused. so after shoko “dies” did Mai meet Sakuta differently or did all the events happen the exact same way just that he didn’t meet shoko
chrizgaming12 i think everything happened the same but instead of actually meeting shoko, he met shoko in a dream (you can see at the end how memories are flooding back and how sakuta pieces everything together)
so wait sakuta went back to past and lived everything again as finding mai, dating and everything. so he risked losing everything but he found mai again and lived everything again?
So for a long recap based on how i understood it. Shoko went back in time before she died. finishing her homework therefore not producing the older shoko that sakuta met that consoled him so that sakuta wont remember her or her death in the future. The reason sakuta remembered was because since he also time traveled like shoko. And those who timetraveled(dream traveled) like shoko which revealed when sakuta visited her that she remembered their date together revealing she kept the memories and since sakuta experienced the same thing he remembered. So in a way shoko still influenced sakuta going to the same school meeting mai san and futaba everyone even koga. And in the last scene where sakuta met shoko they both remembered each other only because they both messed with the timeline producing this timelime we see now. So they just met at a different time but still remembered what they did in the timeline before this. And the reason shoko is still alive is because of the dream effect that sakuta started giving out flyers or like brought attention for more organ donors and mai san making a movie to save those with shoko's conditions. So in conclusion happy ending. Even more confusing than the flashpoint paradox but hey im glad it went well
Happy new decade!!! I hope everyone is doing ok, and for those who aren’t, I hope you’re making the best of it
I got confused on one part of the movie(sorry if I don’t word this right) but when sakuta was waiting by the light to see if he was going to get hit by the car, did shoko purposely lead him to the crash because that’s where she wanted to met at the enoshima lights or was she trying to lead him away in some way and if so how then, I need details please

This is a totally acceptable way to look at it :) Nice work!!

@Mpgow can you clarify one thing for me:
Because the movie and anime series all played in the future simulation of fourth grade Shoko who is in the present, does that mean that all the things which have happend in the anime
(or also: simulation) also happend in "new" real world aka present time line then?
Because Mai and Sakuta are in love again and Kaede being afraid to go to school as a result of the the cyberbully give me hope that all the anime series wasn't just
"a forgettable dream" or a "fade memory".

So when she saw Shoko, she recognize her.
@@grootkenn2539 im still confused if Shoko is healthy or not now and if she is healthy now how did they prevent it
@@kazuha4157 she's now healthy because she detoured her meeting with Sakuta. It created another timeline where the outcome is her living longer.
This entire series just hits different bro, I wanna tip my hat to author cause how tf do you just think this up one day😭
It prob took more than one day XD nah jk, author is experienced though so it makes sense

one of the most heart warming animes i've watched in a long time.
ehh, heartwarming? This show throws me for a loop everytime I watch it ;_;
I’ve been looking for someone to finally explain this movie thank you✊🏽
No problem!! I spent a while researching it, and I’m happy to know that I was able to explain it well enough.
i can't even express how grateful i am for this video and comment section.. i respect you so much, thank you..
One if not THE best anime I've ever watched. The movie is so good, I was crying several times
Yeah, more Mai sad moments maybe ):
Oh yeah that would be interesting
For the first time ever, I actually understood such a complex movie on my own. I came here to see if my deduction was correct.
I understood it but it's all scattered, I don't know what is in order so I needed this video
i cried when shoko confessed to sakuta about his dreams and the ending dude. and just before that i was saying to myself i wont cry then f dude i cried so hard dude this movie is beautiful.
Definitely one of my all time favorites!! I think I was asking too many questions to cry though ;_;

all people who dropped this series completely missed out on this amazing work and the genius that is put into it.
XD
When Mai died i was so sad but happy that she was alive later i just wanted a semi-happy ending u are underrated love the vid and the movie
tysm, really happy you enjoyed it :)) living Mai > dead Mai
@@mpgowI agree👍
One of the parts that I wish they included in the movie is that when Sakuta meets the Shoko with Mai's heart (the Shoko after the accident) they never explain that she is actually from a future where she marries Sakuta. It's a beautiful moment in the light novel and really hits you in the feels when you realize that despite that future she gets to live with the one she loves, she denies stripping the joy that Mai gave him and still returns to make things right.
Holy shit! Why did they leave this part out!?!?!?!

So basically the 1 season timeline wasn’t real it was dream bc shoko from 4th grade finished her home work right ?
Actually, due to the dream effect, the entirety of season 1 is repeated in the new timeline with minor differences such as Shoko not meeting Sakuta as an adult at the beach.
@@mpgow wait so in this new timeline the Shoko we see at the beach did meet Sakuta before or no? also is the Shoko we see at the end of the movie in the grade?

My question is who would’ve been there to cheer up Sakuta after Kaede’s incident. But besides that, great video!

@@Savldj THEY BETTER SO I CAN SEE THEM KISS >:(
@@mpgow 😭😭 everything was perfect in the show and yet they didn’t kiss after all they went through 😭😭
This is kinda my understanding of the events.
Mai. I have no words for how much pain I feel because of her dying. I got so attached to the anime that I didnt realize it.

I just wanted an outlet to talk about anime, and post fun videos! So thank you for giving my video a watch
so who does he not end up with
Breezy Obsolete ahem... ‘YOU’
I've thought about this a lot, and this is the conclusion I've come to:
There are three shokos total; the youngest, the middle, and the oldest.
Urghhh, I do concur. More Kaede? Nah. Kiss? Nah. Tie up loose ends such as an epilogue? Nah. Season 2? Also probably a nah. We're all out here w8ing
This means that there are different timelines and realities; this uncovers a sad truth. (correct me if I'm wrong.)
The reality where Mai died, Sakuta died and Shoko died, were not erased, they're still there and their timeline is still running.
Shouko Makinohara sacrificed a lot, didn't she? She's my most favorite.❤
100% agree, seeing her prepare to sacrifice herself for Mai and Sakuta was one of my most recognized moments. Shoko-train member here. :O

Sakuta noticed, figured it out and even wanted her to pass a message onto his future self in this Shouko's future to "make your adorable bride the happiest person in the world." She did say earlier that, "she always wanted to get married in college!"

so wait sakuta went back to past and lived everything again as finding mai, dating and everything. so he risked losing everything but he found mai again and lived everything again?
