    I lived in Demopolis in my younger years. Seeing the tow boat grounded on the shore line brings back memories of being on the Black Warrior River. That is the way they hold in place for another tow boat to pass or wait for their turn in the lock or wait for a tornado to move through. Great footage from the drone, I like that you guys are going high tech. I'm sure the weather guys are enjoying the views you can provide. Great work.

    amazing footage, I tend to think that drones will help us understand twisters even more. Can anyone tell me though what I'm seeing at 2:38? It starts at the upper part of the twister, then disapears, then travels across the mid section, and exits. Is that how debris usually travels?

      @@glenwaldrop8166 so they seem to drop at around the same area mostly? Almost like it draws them there like a magnet or something..
      Is it an area where the conditions come together ideally for tornadoes often?

    • @glenwaldrop8166
      @glenwaldrop8166 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@IngieKittyx it's something to do with the elevation drop, the river and the overall weather fronts in the area.
      We're right where the gulf moist air meets the cool air from the north and west, this particular area is where the elevation drops ~350 ft right into a river basin, there is a ton of heat right at the river basin and it's just a path with less geographical blocks, the storm coming in has that elevation drop which should kind of create a lower pressure area.
      This is all just my theory but it's been pretty reliable. Storms come over that ridge and either strengthen dramatically or die. Pretty sure the ridge and the river are both sizable factors. It's funny how storms will be coming through in the dry months, when we need rain quite badly, they'll just stop right in the same area and fizzle out.
      99% sure the elevation changes and heat from the river are affecting the clouds at whatever elevation they're at. It's kind of a reach but the pattern is obvious as hell. I've got family on both sides of the river and during a drought the ones on the west side are always better off (the storms almost always come from the west).

These are really amazing drone videos (on your LSM channel) and folks should take a look at all of them from the Outbreak 3-17-21. Only question I have on this one is... was this an actual tornado at some point, or just a rapidly rotating wall cloud? I can't really see where it touched down. Either way, I love this video!

    This would certainly be one way of dealing with hilly terrain or heavily wooded areas when it comes to chasing storms. Get close but keep a reasonably safe distance and put up the drone. While this method isn't going to allow one to track a tornado due to the limited range of drones, it will at least allow people to get decent visuals on what would otherwise be unseen tornadoes. I expect this will start to catch on.

    Wow, you caught a UFO or a Foo Fighter as the WW2 pilots called them. Watch @ 2:40 and again @ 2:43 about drone height a shining object moving from left to right in front of tornado then into it briefly then see it leave it just to the right of it. Thought it might be debris, but debris usually doesn't move in a straight line. It's moving very fast. Weird thing as well, your camera has a blip just before it appears.

    • @leaf2180

      It is not a UFO 🙄 it is indeed just debris. That or another drone.

    • @deanchamblin2160
      @deanchamblin2160 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leaf2180 Wrong, first a Drone would not be able to fly into the tornado and then exit in a straight flight out ahead of it against the winds coming into it. Second, debris does not fly faster than the winds itself. This is moving faster than the parent funnel cloud is rotating, impossible.

    • @leaf2180
      @leaf2180 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deanchamblin2160 i mean it could easily be a drone a little further up than the one recording this footage. Tornadoes form at the back of storms, meaning it could've just flown into an area where the sun was peeking through. Same thing could be said about the debris, a scrap of metal doesn't need direct sunlight to shine like that, these things are getting flipped and twisted and thrown all around the tornado, so even though it looks like it went right through the tornado in a straight line, it more than likely was just getting spun around, first showing the flat side, where you first see it, then the edge of the piece, where it disappeared, and then back flat again where you see it shine on the right side of the tornado.
