    John, you're the only TH-cam A/C tech that has enough experience or knowledge to check your new capacitor before installing. Well done.

    I bought one of those laser thermometer "guns" from Amazon, and man - that thing really helps with temp issues. All over the house.

    I can say that every single video has been very educational for the fact that it’s been in real service calls and that’s why I like it, besides that you explain very well step by step.
    Please keep posting videos on real service calls so we can learn from you, thanks.

    Nice that you had that little platform to sit on instead of mud. I had a fan motor with a bad capacitor. It got so hot that water sprayed on it would instantly boil away. That was about 6 years ago. The motor, which was made in India, is still running! And in Louisiana, it runs half the year.

    John if you look on that label on the unit again you will see it says "field charge" instead of "factory charge" that indicates as you said it was a dry ship unit so you were correct.

    Nice one John. I had a 31 year old lennox today go out on thermal overload and it wouldn't close again no matter how long I ran water over the compressor. I even tried hitting the compressor with a mallet to try to get it to run

    I just had a brand new Goodman central AC and brand new air handler system installed today and its not cooling right off the freaking bat. It cooled down to about 75 and then went back up to 76 and that's where its been for about 5 hours now. The outside unit is not blowing hot air but it sounds like the compressor is on. IDK what to say. It's a brand new system. I don't know if it's the AC unit or the installation. Unbelievable!

    Seems like all of the 3 wire caps have a finite life. When I replace with two separate caps they seem to do much better. I think it's heat that kills them.

    John thanks! I’ve been watching you for years but this was probably my favorite. Good length and lots of pro tech tips. On one of your next videos can you please explain the correlation between how much the suction pressure should vary if it’s 80f vs 105f outside. Thanks

    9 times out of 10 is the overload due to a bad capacitor?

    Dont Imus understand why residential techs never check amps on compressor or fan after changing caps. Those caps dont just run out of juice so to say. It's always a sign something else is wrong. A season tech will look why caps were discharged and most of the times you find it from amp checks.

    What causes thermal overload? I changed my cap last season. Could it be the cap again?

    • @potatolew4495
      @potatolew4495 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fan was not working because it had a bad capacitor. Thermal overload is from heat or compressor failure.
