    Baltics + Nordics on a Budget Series #05
    What a trip! An overnight cruise on board one of the nicest ships I have been aboard (I have not cruised before, just used ferries). Enjoy every aspect of today's trip from the included buffet spread for dinner and breakfast, to the joys of the Moomin Room.
    This was a joyous and slow way to travel from Sweden to Finland. I'd definitely do it again.

    I still remember how exciting it was as a child when the Dún Laoghaire ferry would dock in Holyhead on a Thursday and hundreds of people would debark to take advantage of late night shopping at M & S. It feels like another age. Probably wasn't quite as luxurious as the Silja Serenade though.

      I grew up in Jonesboro near Newry and remember people coming up for Jonesboro market on a Sunday and to go into Newry to go to Woolworths!

    Silja Serenade was the largest ferry in the world when she was delivered in 1990. And she is as spectacular as ever. You should try Viking Lines new cruiseferry m/s Viking Glory. She serves the Stockholm-Åland Islands-Turku route. She was put into service a few weeks ago. :)

    • @Markmeister1989
      @Markmeister1989 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Moni_892 Both TallinkSilja and Viking Line make a stop at the Åland Islands. I would choose Viking Line if im going to Turku from Sweden because the vessels there are much more modern and on the Helsinki route i would choose Silja Symphony or Silja Serenade. :)

    • @matsv201
      @matsv201 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Moni_892the turku line is the most profitable line, so it gets all the new modern ships. Viking line have bought new ships more recently and the newest one is proboly the most modern ship aflot today. Brand new and its sort of a study in new technology.

      @PlanetPatrick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean, I was never there in the 80s either (by the tiniest of margins though!!).
      Of course, I use a DJI Mini 2 - excellent quality footage for these 4K videos I make - would consider an upgrade later to get some obstacle sensors as this one has none.

      @MartyyHD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PlanetPatrick Cheers! I have a drone (although its a chinese one) called the ZLRC Beast 3, its amazing for the price (£200) and it has a laser obstacle avoidance camera. I actually dont like using it too often as it even detects my helipad as an obstacle and wont land when using it, its also quite a heavy one so i had to get my operator license, however that was extremely easy to get online and i passed the test when i was drunk lmao

      @@MartyyHD 🤪😂 - must look it up. The dji is under 250g, so it fits in my jacket pocket or bag and can be flown most places without the CAA license (or equivalent) though I got the license too for the craic. The weight was important as I travel only with hand luggage
