I love the Red Wings picking Raymond. I was hoping for him or Rossi. I was shocked Rossi and Perfetti fell to 9 and 10 respectively. Sanderson at 5 was kind of surprising as well.

Yea I really just didn’t want them to pick Perfetti, his skating scared me and in a league where skating is becoming even more important it isn’t something to risk. Raymond and Rossi on the other hand are great skaters

Sanderson going top be a top 2 shutdown defensemen. Not fun to play against DD. Rossi fell because of size and others were picked because of goal scoring capabilities or defense.... having raymond go #4 changed the dynamic of the draft... was more surprised that Quinn went top 10 and I think the raymond pick is really a reach... Detroit needs D or a C so that was strange... thought drysdale would land their.... also keep in mind that a playmaking center for the past couple of years (unless your mcdavid) kind of are "busts" and dont live up to the hype in the big leagues because your playing against professionals, men, and your life essientlay is on the line... junior hockey is like fun... the nhl is a diffrent animal.
I wanted to see the Devils trade down and grab the goalie but I was more surprised that nashville took askarov with saros not showing signs of controlling the #1 spot it makes sense but that's like building your future around your goalie (their going to be on the downfall in a year or 2) so I would of picked up a defensemen or just traded the pick. Nashivile is in a weird spot with cap problems and goalie problems. I think their in alot of trouble next year.... this is what happens when u trade that heart and soul to your team for overrated offensive defensemen (subban Weber).....
I wouldnt say perfetti fell but I didn't like Winnipeg not picking lundell. He will be jordan stall type of player and I dont think the jets need more scoring they need to find the role player. Their also in a weird spot but they have really good goalietending and front office... they do need to address defense and depth over the years they couldnt afford all their great defensemen which is understandable but that's why at drafts u fill in the spots for 3-5 years down the road. I really didnt like the jets pick and I think adding role players are key...

But makes no sense to think anyone benefits from putting expectations on him to play a role in NHL that he's hopefullt having this season in SHL with Frolunda. Franck Bernard the offer has to be there too, it’s not like you can just move it if you feel like it. At that point, if you are that confident about a guy, you may as well guarantee you get him. According to some source( it’s secondhand can’t confirm), JK viewed him as high as a top 10 player. If that’s true, (not saying it is), you would kick yourself possibly missing such a player for a fifth.

It will take some time, just like how Scheifele looked like a deer on ice when he played is first hand full of games. From his draft in 2011, it wasn't until the 2015-16 season was where we really started to see they talented player that he was growing into, while building more strength.

Just to explain what Calgary was doing trading down. They likely had 2-3 players let's say Zary, Lapierre and Schneider all very closely ranked (essentailly tied) they talked with the Rangers maybe even asked who they would be taking with their pick and moved down three spots in the hopes that one of those players would be available and picking up a third rounder in the process. When picks 20 and 21 didn't include any of the players in Calgary's group they traded the 22nd pick to drop down to 24 and pick up another third rounder. Calgary likely ended up with the player they wanted or close enough at 19 but managed to pick up two third rounders in the process. Long winded explanation but hope people get the point.

I think Sanderson is another player Ottawa needed. A wall of a defenseman who will be a top pairing defenseman with Chabot, so they had to take him over Drysdale with Raymond off the board. To add he already is playing NCAA with Docker and Pinto, so that also could have been enough for the scouts to take a close look at Sanderson, and eventually draft him at 5 with Raymond gone.

A lot of of our fan base thought we would take Noel Gunler at 31, but I think Ozzy is a better fit with the direction that Dougie is going with our forward prospects from this draft. Lots of pieces here to shore up the holes in our less than stellar current pipeline. I’m excited to see Ozzy develop
Edit: As a side note, how freaking cool was it to have Alex Trebek announce Ottawa’s pick at the start of the draft, and then have Doug Jr use ASL for our pick to close out the first round.

Chinakhov was eligible for 2019 draft. Not selected. Now he suddenly is 1st rounder. He started the KHL season really well, scored 5 in last 5 games, good skating, great energy, nice shot. Bob Hartley is his coach now and he puts him to the 1st line (some injuries-related). But from nobody to the 1st round in a year (covid one)?! That is really not a compliment for the scouting NHL clubs do on MHL (the youth satellite for KHL).

    Few things
Carolina getting Jarvis is such a W, he’s legit.
I’m jealous Montreal got a player I like in Guhle, he’s gonna be a pain in the ass to play against.
I like the devils pick of Shakir Mukhamadullin or however you spell it. I’ve noticed he’s had a great start in the KHL as a young dman with big size. Wasn’t shocked he went first round after that start and I’ve read some good things about him since.
Jake Sanderson is a REALLY good defenseman, people shouldn’t be too shocked about him.
Finally, I’ve noticed more players who play with an edge got taken a bit later within the first round. I have a feeling maybe the bubble playoff hockey played a factor. As the draft went on, less pure skilled players and more chippy two way hockey players started to get taken. Thought that was really cool and maybe those types of players are getting an increase in value.

K Radz Russian media actually raves about the kid as well. Apparently they’ve been saying he has #1 D upside for a few years now. Obviously no one can guarantee that but with the tools he brings to the table, you never know. I really like what he offers- size, pretty good on breakouts, a hard shot, a little nasty to his game. It’s what you want in a dman, they’re definitely swinging for the fences with this pick
That being said, he’s gonna take a little bit of time and the devils can easily afford to stay patient with him. He probably stays in the KHL for next season as well. Can you imagine if he has an unreal season in the khl next year? Start the hype train!

    - Rangers; great job Lafreniere and Schneider are great picks where they got them. Teams gonna be amazing in 3 years.
    - Sens: Stutzle great, Sanderson a little risky imo, and a great player in Greig.
    - Ducks; Great picks as a Kings fan, I’m mad they got Drysdale and Perrault.
    - Devils; Holtz and Mercer great picks. 3rd pick Shakir is a little risky at 27.
    - Wild; If Rossi can be what he’s hyped to be.. Minny got the steal.
    - Jets; Also another great pick.
    - Preds; I’m surprised they took him. But it does make sense.
    - Leafs; why?
    - Kings; My team, I wanted Stutzle but I also like Byfield. If he can be anywhere near his projection (GENO) I’ll shut up about Stutzle.
