I've been selling on Amazon since 2017 and I still get confused when it comes to shipping hand Freight forward information. This is one of the best videos I've seen so far.
I really have to say that everytime I search for information concerning some aspect of Amazon FBA, your videos are almost always the absolute best in terms of providing actionable information without a lot of fluff or off-topic nonsense. This is really helpful for someone struggling to figure all this stuff out selling on Amazon, thanks for breaking it down so well. Great content. It would be great to learn more about how to lower shipping charges with Amazon, because once you send that FCL shipment quantity, you are looking at either disbursed distribution, which is very timely and may cost you a lot having a freight forwarder do it. The more efficient alternative but is very expensive eating away all your margins is the FBA inventory placement service. So what's the best way moving forward there to keep your costs minimal, this is especially important as we are talking about larger quantities for FCL and ultimately lowering cost-per-unit.
Hey ACT! There are 4 main options: 1) Send to a non-Amazon wwarehouse in the country first and then distribute in batches to Amazon, often a smaller batch will allow one warehouse. 2) Create and delete shipping plans until one shipping plan gives you only one warehouse to ship to ;) 3) Use Sellerize. One of their features allows you to get placement for free, I am not sure how they manage to do this but they do. 4) Use Amazon's inventory placement.

Hi Dan, Great video very informative. I have a question if you may answer. There is a section in Freightos "Additional Details" where there is an option called "I am a foreign Importer". If I don't stay in the US do I need additional documentation like an EIN number for importing?
Hi Dan, just leaving my remarks. very indepth and much valued. Love your work. I am a newbie at Amazon but feel like a pro wth your videos I am sure the surprises will come. I hope to join your channel at some point shortly in the future when I have reached that stage.
I also want to add some small advice; I picked a freight forwarders from my own country instead of choosing a coperate one. The plus side of this is that 1. They speak my language (dutch). 2. There is no middle men involved which means that I have a direct contact with the sale persons from the freight forward company. 3. They have their own shipment containers for rail, air and sea, so your shipment will be together with their shipments from their customers only. Makes me feels like that my shipment will always be complete. 4.They responds very quickly to my emails, which gave me the trust that IF something goes wrong we can communicate and solve the issue quickly. The freight forwarder i picked could also give me a quote within a week, while the others freight forwarders took much more time to responds. And luckily they also have experience with Amazon deliveries :D
Thanks for the vid, never really understood this, but when do you actually buy the barcode, can you buy the barcode before even buying from the supplier. And can you add your product onto amazon before purchasing the products from the supplier? Also, can you use the pictures of the product that the supplier has sent you instead of making your own ? One thing i didnt understand, when you choose your shipping company, ups/fedex/dhl/or some regular cargo company.... does this screen actually send that shipping data to that shipping company and start the process? OR this screen is simply to tell amazon with which company i am sending the goods with and my manufacturer in china needs to contact and arrange whole process with the shipping company?

I didn't see an option to choose whether you're using a partial or full container and what the price differences are. At what point on freightos or with a freight forwarder do you make that selection?

Thanks for yet another great video. Am creating my first shipping. Let say i created shipping plan on 01.01.2021. My freight forwarder shipps my products from China on 25.01.2021. The product is expected to arrive Amazon warehouse on 26.01.2021. My question is this: Will this plan expire within this time? in general does shipping plan have an expiring date? say a fixed window time by which Amazon must recieve the shippement based on the shipping plan created. I'm not sure why shipping confuses me so much. If my supplier has the Amazon barcode destination for the product and I ship by air, will it get to there just like that? Or will I need to organise another courier to pick up the products from the airport

Do you think you'd be able to save up on your shipping costs if you chose the shipping destination on freightos to be the port, then taking advantage of Amazon's discounted shipping rates to ship to their warehouse? Thanks Naser! That's a good thought however, I wouldn't do it just for the sake of simplicity and time. Having it booked straight through will save a ton of time while doing it this other way, may save a bit of funds but I don't think enough to justify the potential pitfalls
@@DanRodgers Thanks Dan. Upon analyzing and comparing all options, I ended up having the freight forwarder send it all the way through. It turned out to be more cost effective. A bit of a surprise but hey more money with less work I'll take that any day.
Hi there, ive 75pcs of goods ant the total weight with packaging is just 3kg.. but the shippment from china to us costs 129 usd.. isnt that too much for just 3kg of weight?

Hey Mr Momentum! Duty deferment accounts let you pay regular, monthly direct debits instead of paying duties for every shipment. Hi Dan, great info as always. As you mentioned that FCL is better and cheap compared to LCL, but what to do when the units and weight is over than suggested air shipment and way less than FCL. For instance, 1000 units and 700kgs? Also one factor is still unknown to me, you have calculated the total cost of shipping per unit but is there any custom fee we need to pay after the product arrives in US or Europe? If it is, how do we calculate it for each unit. I am stuck finding that information as could change the fate of a product. Thanks in advance.

The ship from address can be your supplier's address. You should choose other carrier if you hire a freight forwarder or your supplier helps you to ship the goods. By the way, I am a freight forwarder myself. Feel free to contact me if you need a reference shipping quote. :)

Thanks Dan for the very helpful video. I have my first product ready to be shipped and have to decide to either do DDP or pay the customer duties/tariffs myself. I have selected a freight forwarder already and they quoted DDP but I'm wondering I can tell them to just to the shipping and they can invoice me for actual duties/customs paid. 11:50 for the shipping to an Amazon warehouse, you only chose one but is there a good possibility it can be more than one? For example if it was 3 or 4 warehouses, that would be more expensive.

Thank you for the video. I have a question specially when there is imventory limits at Amazon, but even if there wasn't any limits , what is your take on what to fill on these containers. Different products ? If they are different products then there is a chance your suppliers are based in different cities, but if they are same.products , can you imagine sending full container to amazon ? How long would it take to sell it if they accept it

50 lbs weight is also a restriction (or do you then simply need to add the label "heavy" to the outside)?
my products dimension has the length of 68cm. I'm not sure how big the carton is yet but would this mean amazon would not allow this size of carton?

Hi Dan, Great video very informative. I have a question if you may answer. There is a section in Freightos "Additional Details" where there is an option called "I am a foreign Importer". If I don't stay in the US do I need additional documentation like an EIN number for importing?
Hi Dan, just leaving my remarks. very indepth and much valued. Love your work. I am a newbie at Amazon but feel like a pro wth your videos I am sure the surprises will come. I hope to join your channel at some point shortly in the future when I have reached that stage.
I also want to add some small advice; I picked a freight forwarders from my own country instead of choosing a coperate one. The plus side of this is that
1. They speak my language (dutch).
2. There is no middle men involved which means that I have a direct contact with the sale persons from the freight forward company.
3. They have their own shipment containers for rail, air and sea, so your shipment will be together with their shipments from their customers only. Makes me feels like that my shipment will always be complete.
4.They responds very quickly to my emails, which gave me the trust that IF something goes wrong we can communicate and solve the issue quickly.
The freight forwarder i picked could also give me a quote within a week, while the others freight forwarders took much more time to responds. And luckily they also have experience with Amazon deliveries :D

Thanks for yet another great video. Am creating my first shipping. Let say i created shipping plan on 01.01.2021. My freight forwarder shipps my products from China on 25.01.2021. The product is expected to arrive Amazon warehouse on 26.01.2021. My question is this: Will this plan expire within this time? in general does shipping plan have an expiring date? say a fixed window time by which Amazon must recieve the shippement based on the shipping plan created. I'm confused with freight forwarders and shipping couriers(UPS, Fedex etc)
I'm not sure why shipping confuses me so much. If my supplier has the Amazon barcode destination for the product and I ship by air, will it get to there just like that? Or will I need to organise another courier to pick up the products from the airport

Thanks Naser! That's a good thought however, I wouldn't do it just for the sake of simplicity and time. Having it booked straight through will save a ton of time while doing it this other way, may save a bit of funds but I don't think enough to justify the potential pitfalls

I use a major company to import to the uk, they are charging 5% of my duty cost to pay this for me up front. I do not understand how to create a deferment account, the hmrc website is always so confusing!!!
Hey Mr Momentum! Duty deferment accounts let you pay regular, monthly direct debits instead of paying duties for every shipment.

Hi Dan, great info as always. As you mentioned that FCL is better and cheap compared to LCL, but what to do when the units and weight is over than suggested air shipment and way less than FCL. For instance, 1000 units and 700kgs? Also one factor is still unknown to me, you have calculated the total cost of shipping per unit but is there any custom fee we need to pay after the product arrives in US or Europe? If it is, how do we calculate it for each unit. I am stuck finding that information as could change the fate of a product. Thanks in advance.

I have selected a freight forwarder already and they quoted DDP but I'm wondering I can tell them to just to the shipping and they can invoice me for actual duties/customs paid. Renee they offer customs bond options in the process as you gain quotes and book shipments so yes, you can include the bond within your shipment.

Different products ? If they are different products then there is a chance your suppliers are based in different cities, but if they are same.products , can you imagine sending full container to amazon ?
