I absolutely love watching microscopic animals, since you can't really see them that easily(duh). Even when it comes to exotic animals like tigers or pandas, they don't beat the world's microbiome.
I feel the same way. Every time I look down the microscope it is like entering another world 🔬
Originally, I wanted to go into the sciences to become a physician or a scientist, but life directed me to the liberal arts. As such, only one subject in one semester of college allowed me to peer through a microscope. I loved hunting for volvox, that organism remains my most favourite. Anyway, thank you for evoking fond memories. Videos such as yours help inspire me. I'm actually purchasing an affordable but effective microscope for my niece who's going to take up medical technology in college. I might as well purchase one for myself to pursue my love for microbe hunting. Once again, thanks a lot for another lovely and informative video.

The circle of life amazes me. I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent human but to be once again shown how awesome life is makes me aware of how lucky I am to have attained the title Human. How anyone can consider being human the ultimate pinnacle of existence makes me realize how arrogant we are. We are just flotsam in a universe of possibilities.

I have a few micro-aquariums right now with daphnia and cyclopses and tiny snails and I just love watching them. I wish I had a powerful enough microscope to watch them more closely. For now I just use a powerful magnifying glass. :)

Video quality of pond was scarily bad but once the micro footage started I thought 'wow you're doing that with a fricken iphone?!' Good job considering what you're working with man. Hope you get enough support so you can afford equipment more appropriate for your skill level. Good luck.

What he doesn't tell you is you have to be a Professional Video editor to get footage like this.
I have the same phone and adapter and my footage looks nothing like this , it cost me £700 to buy his setup.

First of all thank you for this beautiful video. Have you used special dyes on the hydra for better filming or is it its own natural color. It seems to be green. Do they bear chloroplasts or algae?
Some hydras have a symbiotic relationship with algae, which is why some are green 😄

My Microscopic World hey, thanks for the reply. After I left this comment I did a quick search. The guy who was selling the water was sourcing it from municipal tap water in Oregon. The water is from a spring and is untreated, but it is tested by the state. He was selling tap water for the equivalent of $16 a bottle. He never got any licenses to run a business in California or Oregon and is currently shut down. Funny world.

Tardigrades will live for a maximum of two years in their active state. But in their inactive state called a tun, their slow down their metabolism to under 1% of normal, and can live for 100+ years 😄

1:21 and 2:51, what causes those artifacts?
It is due to my computer being to slow. So when I “fuse” all the clips together to one video, the computer has a hard time keeping track of the individual pixels. Unfortunately I only have my laptop to edit video on so I don’t think there is not much I can do to fix it. This is also why the first “nature-clip” is a bit pixelated.
