- Here is a full play of the rather delightful 'Trolley Song' tape! This was my Grandfathers favourite tape, especially the 'Show Tunes from Phillips L.P.s, so I've loved finally putting this one together :-). Hope you enjoy it too! I remember this test card, me aged 56 now, my parents used to leave it running on the TV , love the Hollywood tunes and the general easy listening. Keep it coming!
One of the best testcard tapes 1978!.
It lasted a long time as well, from 1978 until early 1982, and then came back in August that year for another few months!! BBC2's Don Fernando was its twin, but I think I preferred this one overall for variety!! It replaced another good one too, Norman Candler's "Hot Canary," or "Winter Walking," as some of us called it!!

I'm so glad I found this its all coming back too me now, I can remember them all
I had a tune in my head for over 40 years (!!). We used to have the test card music on on the background when I was a kid. Then recently, whilst humming my favourite tune, I thought "I bet I can find it on TH-cam". It took a bit of doing but I succeeded! And I discovered it has a name ("Sloop Jo"). Many thanks for posting this, it brought back happy memories.
The early tracks have a 1960's feel about them.

The original "Trolley Song" ends (from 1:53) with a great rhyming scheme:
As he started to leave,
I took hold of his sleeve
with my hand...
and, as if it were planned,
he stayed on with me, and
it was grand
just to stand
with his hand
holding mine...
to the end of the line.
MUSIC like this 40 years on if was to be remixed would absolutley storm hit parade. Younger generation will think " wheres this music come from its awwsome ;....Be testcard secrets of the past.
A lot of it would remind them of Spongebob Squarepants, an occasional user of the same library music.
Brilliant sounds of myyounger years. Mix these sounds with todays pop charts will be very popular.

One CD I can definitely recommend and find a joy to listen to is Big Band Width: Test Card Classics 2 - Flyback FBCD 2001, a whole CD containing upbeat, Vibrant tracks played on the test card. It had more viewers than the number of listeners to radio 1 during the daytime back in the day.
Some of tunes on the early part of this tape makes me think of This Is Your Life TV programme. Sound quite similar in nature to the theme tune of that show.
It could well have been one of the artists from this tape that composed the This Is Your Life theme.
The TCC Stream yesterday prompted me to revisit this again. Delightful. Have you any plans to upload any more tapes for us to enjoy ? Thank You.

The early tracks sound more like 1960's style tracks.
This Is Your Lite springs to mind when hearing some of the early tracks.
Scrap BBC Fake News & bring back the Testcard with music instead.
I wish they would do too really-if only of course. It would be much nicer than what they seem to show now too!
On Thursday 18th December 1980 at around 14.55 The Trolley Song was popped up after the Christmas tape Santa Claus is Coming to Town B511 from 1974 after conclusion
