Amen! I actually was just thinking about this the other day how she should have like a “normal” character.
One who is health conscious, but not overly so and the main thing about this character is they need to be very introverted and not the type to tell other people things.
Almost like the character, her husband plays, except in woman form. A character who while the crunchy and silky mom are battling it out she is just like oh my God how do I get out of here. Maybe make her a little anxious?
I also thought it would be interesting if she does a Collab with that really like purposefully annoying Utah mom. The one who is health conscious, but is also about labels. And kind of a mean girl lol
It would be interesting for me to see because crunchy mom struggles a bit with being liked. She kind of reminds me of Michael Scott. So while I think she would disagree with a lot of what the Utah mom was saying, if she met up with like a click of Utah moms, I’m curious if it would influence her….
And then I feel like she needs to do a Kalab with like a western homesteading mom who just does things her way, and is confident in her choices and doesn’t do like the arguing thing that a lot of her other characters do at the table.
For example, two crunchy mom’s out crunch each other.
Crunchy versus silky moms are just lost in translation
Crunchy mom versus label, obsessed health-conscious Utah. Mom would be interesting because I think they would both be trying to outdo each other in their own way.
Crunchy mom versus a normal mom would be crunchy mom trying to talk all about her lifestyle and normal. Mom would just agree. Agree agree while in her head going oh my gosh I gotta get out of here texting her husband like SOS.
Crunchy mom versus Western Homestead mama, crunchy mom would be talking all about her lifestyle and Homestead mama would just be like OK well I’m a still do it this way. And just be very confident in her choices. And unbothered with crunchy mom’s reasoning for why her ways are better. I think it would puzzle crunchy mom.
If any of these characters appear, I think the western’s mom name should be Wendy and I will take him. I don’t know like 40% of whatever the shorts make in ad revenue. 😉

It was like a night and day difference. Taking care of my family is enough responsibility for me. I will leave monitoring and making other families’ choices up to them.

I have gone from extreme crunchy to finding balance. I see the benefit to naturally letting your immune system build, using what Natures given us to support our bodies, avoiding toxins- and holy cow, natural fabrics are a game changer… especially for sleep. However I know my kids will be exposed to everything else eventually and I want them to learn balance with it, How it makes them feel, and not to live in fear. We now say at home, this is how we eat… it someone else has something different, that’s okay. Video games are a fun weekend activity when all else is done but if something else comes up where we get to go on adventure or hang out with people … that’s more important. I still hate the doctor because I feel like I’m constantly having to figure out what is wrong for myself and then annoy them till they get it… however, if we do ever have to use them, that’s okay. So far the kids have not (other than broken bones) and I’m very thankful for that.

@@janelleblount128I love everything you said. Let your kids play in the dirt, show them the joy of eating fresh foods from the garden and have fun growing them together, teach them about all the different kinds of birds and bugs, and get outside with them to play and get exercise. But we also have to know that our kids are growing up in a world where EVERYONE is on the internet basically all the time, even from their phones (which gives us even more freedom to enjoy the outdoors if you think about it, because you can be connected from anywhere). So there's a lot of value in not demonizing that stuff and letting it have a healthy place in your lives - like your thing about video games on the weekend. Especially if you can share in some of that together. They can be a great bonding activity if they're done in moderation. We have to protect kids but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy a whole variety of things the world has to offer. We can guide them to develop a relationship with technology that's maybe a bit healthier than some people in our generation have with it.

    • @janelleblount128
      @janelleblount128 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Exactly 🙌🏻. Thankfully at this stage (8 and under). They still will choose hiking over video games and acknowledge they don’t want crap food all the time because they don’t feel great after. I hope they continue to be able to use that discernment for themselves.

@janelleblount128 I'm very similar to you! We lean crunchy, but we also don't want them to be in fear, and feel it's important to teach them to set limits on things while we have the chance, so they have tablets they use on rare occasions like long car drives or trips, and occasionally like camping etc. eat junk cereal , but I try really hard to teach them to pay attention to how foods make them feel and to eat nourishing foods most of the time. I believe in 80/20 so I'd say I'm 80% crunchy and 20% silky, I don't want to be extreme on either side, a healthy balance is good!

Desensitized to violence by tv, authoritarian parenting, and from other kids experiencing the same. Grow up in schools that teach conformity, and obedience to authority, instead of creativity and learning and finding ourselves and our passions and interest, learning compassion. It's just sad.

Is life easier the silky way? I believe that is your essential question. There is no question that buying pre-ground flour is tremendously easier than milling your own grains. But if you cannot relinquish the fear of what's added to the Pre-milled grains, or if you can discern the difference between pre-ground and freshly-ground flour then maybe the trade-off isn't worth it. You certainly have more time for house-chores or for yourself if you send the kids to day care and public school. But if your fear of what the kids will learn in those places is too high, or the fear of their being exposed to excessive plastic and electronics is too high then, again, the decision to keep kids home might be the best one for you. Certainly throwing on a T and jeans is easier than always dressing to the nines in wool and linen. But I am no fashionista so I won't give any additional comments there. In terms of Baby Showers / Blessing Ways or Christmas parties, I'd suggest tuning the party to the guest list, or tune the guest list to the party. That is, silky people will be uncomfortable at crunchy parties, and crunchy people are uncomfortable at silky parties. The primary rule of guest courtesy is make everyone comfortable. So try to avoid inviting the silkies to the crunchy parties. And if you are invited to a silky party, do your best to relax and enjoy it. That's all I have in answer to your question. Neither life is really easier - Day Care versus Home, Pre-milled vs Mill Your Own, Jeans/T vs wool and linen -- each side has its perks and drawbacks. Best wishes to you, especially if you are in the middle of a little cris du Coeur.

I can relate much more to the Silky Mom than to the Crunchy Mom. And I can understand what the Silky Mom says, while some words that come out of the Crunchy Mom are gibberish to me. Both, however, are extreme examples of their respective "creeds". Another thing, I think Crunchy Mom's nightmares might have some "guilty pleasure" component at the subconscious or unconscious level.

I believe it's best to strike a balance in those things. I like natural products but people can overdo it and make it into a competition and too much tv and sugar foods is not healthy either. Healthy balance is good and some things work better for certain folks and don't work for others. As long as we're all understanding and respectful, all is good. Just my two cents ^^

Oh my word ppl, she's making light of all types. Don't judge yourself or other moms. Do the best you can as a mom, and friend, and never make another mom feel less bcuz of your and her differences, and how you raise your kids. Learn from each other. Encourage each other, don't compare each other. "Be kind, tender hearted...Eph. 4:32

I grew up in the suburban part of a city. If I don't hear regular airplane noise and the occasional emergency vehicle I get antsy. Scrunchy is the best I'll ever do. (Also I'm allergic to a bunch of outdoors stuff, but that's as simple as taking an antihistamine before exploring nature.)

Shouldn't crunchy mom be an unschooler? There is a wrong way to do it, so read Unschooling to University to learn how to unschool in a way that leads to college if it fits their goals.
Now the "I'll spank you if you keep crying" really is a terrible nightmare, though.
