    I think its priceless to know your bike and how to fix it. My marlin 6 started making a ticking noise, took it to the shop 3-4 times and they never resolved the issue. Decided to upgrade things to it. Changed it to 1x, put a dropper post, different handlebar and stem and changed tires. You’ll appreciate it more in the long run. Just buy the tools you need. You’ll need it in the long run

      I did the same thing bro to my Marlin 6 is right in line with a Roscoe now. I did this ram eagle whole NX setup May shifting much better as the original drive chain was booty then I upgraded the forks, tires ,dropper, shorter stem, handle bars, and larger brake rotors. She is a beast now.

    So as far as I know, the 27.5 wheel option is only available to the XS and S frame sizes on the fuel. Also, the hub on the EX 7 is the same as the hub on the EX 8, so I'd imagine it'll get louder with time.
    Also, that remedy 8 is a monster. That lyrik fork with code brakes is such a sick combo, and I love the yellow to red fade! Nothing wrong with the fuel by any means, both awesome bikes and you'll be happy either way

    The sales guy is wrong you can do either 27.5 plus or 29. It does change the feel. I switch my fuel and Excalibur’s wheels all the time. You do need switch wheels... you can can’t do just tires, but you know that.

  • @victormccraw1867

    Matty, great channel. I went from an REI Drt 2.1 to a Roscoe 8. I just could not get comfortable on that bike at all after coming from 27.5x2.8 tires. I traded in the Roscoe 8 for the Trek Stache 7 and never looked back. 29x3.0 tires let me climb most anything within reason and I never get stuck in skinny ruts on the trail. I don’t do much technical stuff and I have never owned a rear suspension bike, so I’m happy with the hardtail and being able to run rear pressures as low as I need depending on the trail. I have yet to learn to manual, wheelie, hop or jump - maybe someday. An oval chainring has been my only upgrade. Good luck with your bike shopping, I look forward to seeing what you get.

    @MattyJohnson going on the trek site and looking at the bikes in side by side comparison I too agree the ex7 looks like a better bike. That being said if you don't dislike the color options on the ex5 and plan on upgrading parts along the way beyond the spec on the ex7 I would suggest the ex5 for the lower price point and I like the drive train a little more. Just a few more things to consider unless you plan on changing out complete bikes every year or so. Either way I enjoy your channel, thanks for sharing. Enjoy the ride

    Hey, I'm sure if you started with some small repairs like adjusting shifting, changing tires, bleeding brakes, etc., you could take a full bike apart in no time. It is definitely not rocket science. I think you have to try a few things, remove pedals and handlebars, add bottle cage, and progress from there. Even if you buy a fully assembled bike, knowledge and skills for repairs and assembly are almost as important as riding skills. Give it a try. I bet you can remember when you could barely ride a trail, and look how well you ride now.

    I got a YT, and straight out the box, all I needed to do was put the handlebars on the stem and install the wheels. No problem.. It took 20 minutes. The Next day I watched a video on You Tube about tubeless conversion and had that done in 30min. Did it myself. It wasn't hard at all. And I am not a bike mechanic either. Lol but I really like Trek bikes with those fat pipes!

    Hey Matty, not trynna make you go broke here but just saying the fuel ex series is a great lineup. The Fuel ex 7 is a great bike but if you are considering the Remedy, being that is 4.1k if you can sum up another 200 dollars you can get the fuel ex 9.7. The Fuel ex 9.7 is a cost friendly full carbon bike that is comes in at 4.3k. I know it’s a lot of money but you get everything you get on the fuel ex 8 xt (shimano- the gx is a sram set up). You also get a better fork in the front which is the fox rhythm 36 vs 34 you get in both the gx and nx models of the fuel ex 8. Assuming as you progress you are going to want a more light and advance trail bike. This bike is a jack of all trades where you get pretty much everything you could every ask for for a cheaper price tag. In comparison the other carbon bikes usually start at 6k but 7k is more common. You can all the way up to 10k. So, I really think if you have got the money you should go with the fuel ex 9.7!!!

    Only thing that scares me on that is the fork...the RS 35 Gold just isn't great for the price. How do you find it on the Roscoe?

    Hey Matty, keep up the good work on the channel. I Have a Roscoe 8 and am interested in the fuel 7 too. Feel its time to upgrade to the full suspension and thats the nexrt bike to get. Did you notice anything different about the 29's? Ive heard of more control with 27.5's. If you get the fuel 7, what tire size would you get?

    • @MattyActive

      I would probably get 29”

    • @MattyActive

    Awesome looking bike! Looks like it's a really smooth ride. Should be able to handle anything a trail throws at it judging by how it handled that drop. When upgrading is it better to do it gradually or just get the most bike one can afford or save for?

    • @MattyActive
      @MattyActive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say gradually until you understand what kind of riding you like to do the most. I think that takes time
