I have seen this happen if the angle is too large. If you are too slanted from the floor. I would recommend facing the floor directly and making sure to look straight down while doing it

No there are people who use a mouse but I found it easier using controller because I use the mouse and keyboard to play with and don't want to constantly change the sensitivity of my mouse through the game settings and DPI so I just use a controller to do it

It's still possible but slightly harder now, sometimes the trap will flip back and forth without any input and just have to click place when it appears on the other side of the floor, but usually it's the same as the video
