@@TRICK-OR-TREAT236 Thank you! I'm soooooo tired of people using the term "underrated" in so many of the videos on TH-cam to describe well accomplished and celebrated performers. Fooled Around and Fell in Love" is a song written and performed by blues guitarist Elvin Bishop with Mickey Thomas on lead vocals. It appeared on his 1975 album Struttin' My Stuff, and was released as a single the following year 1976!
Wow Mickey you really knock this song out of the park. I didn't know until today that you sang the vocals on this Elvin Bishop song, now I do. So glad to hear this you've made a lot of great music over the years and I'm looking forward to a lot more. Not to mention that you have aged very well too!!!!
I was a 20 yr old United States Marine, when this was a hit, loved this song. Boy did I date a lot then. But a few years later, I fooled around and fell in love. Been married to her for 39 yrs.
I had the greatest pleasure of seen this same concert in the latest 70's. Mickey is beyond GREAT and ELVIN. I was looking for the cawboy hat there both too much this concert is something to see I'm only 70 years old. BUT LOVE rock n roll
@@adrianagonzalez1538 I agree. I miss the good old times Elvin and Mickey together. They two are back recording an album. Elvin and Mickey are long time friends. Mickey Thomas' voice was way under appreciated. He is truly one of the best singers ever.
Must be one of the greatest ways to express your feelings to stand up and sing in front of a crowd, I can't sing a note but knew someone who could and to this day admire him, resent him and love him as a friend.... hope he's still with us..miss ya Bob.
I didn't know either! I just Wikipedia'd it. Turns out Mickey Thomas is also the lead singer of Starship, (Jane, Sara, We Built This City). I never knew.
The phrasing we became accustomed to in Elvin Bishop's original was developed over Elvin's many years of hard work in both hard and wonderful places. His influence as part of the Butterfield Blues Band remains at the core of my whole life's enjoyment of some really great music. For me, Elvin Bishop just nailed this song right outta the park.
Just absolutely love this song by Elvin.. but it's my first time I hear this one..and reading the comments I understand he was vocals for Elvin Bishop ..never to old to learn..thanks for sharing. ❤
To those who have not seen the YT video of this song, it is a “must see”. It is Elvin Bishop group playing on “Midnight Special” Mickey’s voice is just perfect. Still is in this one. The female singer is Reni Slais/Simon. Not sure which name it is.
This guitarist belongs in that one wedding party band with the drummer that plays like an 80's version of Animal Muppet. (Look on TH-cam for "Drummer at wrong gig")
This guy is a freakish talent. Perhaps the best pure falsetto voice in rock history. This was 1999 and he still had it then. And I saw something more recent and he still had it as well. On a side note. Did anyone else notice how the sound and video go out of sync at some point during the first long guitar solo?
What Elvin Bishop put in the song was pure cool swagger...the double stops he played were dripping with sex appeal. This guy reduced it to bar band level. As Eddie Wilson would say, "You should kick it, not step on it!" (Eddie and the Cruisers II)
You can never practice to be that good you are born with it That's why he can still sing today the pants off of just about anybody I don't think he's underrated I think he's underappreciated with a fantastic person also seen him interviewed quite humble when he first sang this song Elvin Bishop just couldn't get it right he wrote it to play it but couldn't sing it Make it says how about if I give it a try blew the doors off everybody I'd love to see him in concert today
Mickey Thomas replaced Marty Balin as the male lead singer of Jefferson Starship in 1979 and was with the band in 1985 when they changed their name to Starship and had huge hits with "Sara," "We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now."
Only knew this guy from the majestic 'Jane' by JS and didn't know he was the singer on this old tune too! Have since caught him on various TH-cam clips live since and he is on point every time excellent! Seems a nice guy too and still performing today.
Mickey Thomas one of the best vocalists ever !

Mel Isaia. It's been a while, but if memory serves I think he wrote this song.
