@susanw3125 Yeah!!! That's great susan! How are you going to cook them? For me the best is just with butter, but if you have a lot its fun to experiment! =)
Great first video. Here's hoping for lots of growth and fun videos. Some ideas for future videos are some of the nitty gritty of commercial crabbing. How is a commercial trap set up, how do you drop a set (in lines, in a grid etc), how does the davit work, how do you sort crab, what is daily life like while you are out on the ocean, cooking sleeping gear maintenance? I have heard that since the Bering Sea king crab fishery is now a quota fishery that Dungeness crabbing is now the "most dangerous", what makes it so risky?
@neiwert Hi Neiwert! These are great questions thanks for sending them my way! I have a video specifically talking about everything to do with the crab pot lol...I thought it was kind of boring but now that you're asking for it I'll have to edit it in a cool way and post it so you and anyone else who wonders will know! I think it's pretty interesting myself ;) I'm annotating your questions and I'll be keeping them in mind for my next video (s). I think what makes dungie season the most dangerous now is that since it's a "fish as much as you can" starting from the opener, captains/crew really push themselves as hard as they can during the first 2-3 weeks which makes can lead to more accidents - this is my best guess, but I'll do some research and see what I come up with. Thanks again!! =)
@neiwert Hi Neiwert! Just FYI my new vid is up and in it I discuss how the crab davit and block work. In future videos I will be going over setting gear, sorting crab, etc I have to hide the bits of spinach along the way in the excitement! I also just a found another video going over everything about our crab pots, I think you'll like that one too. I find it all so fascinating I'm glad you do too!😂
It’s exciting to see what life is like on a boat. And I think we all know it’s not just fun and games, but a lot of hard work and danger as well. I can’t wait for the next one! How long are you out at a time? How long do the pots sit before you haul them up? Where do you get the bait? Who’s doing the cooking while y’all are out there? More meet and greet with who’s driving the boat, please! When you make a run and fill up and then deliver the catch, how long til you go back out? Can’t wait for next week!
@JoeyBarnes-t7w Hi Joey! Thanks for your questions! I will tell you that 100% it's easier to film when things are going well and the weather is nice. It's a little harder when the weather is crap and everyone is tired to grab the camera so I will have to figure out a way to work in some of the not-so-pretty-days! Captain is pretty camera shy so you won't be seeing a lot of him on film, I try to sneak in 1-2 seconds of him here and there just to show that he exists lol! I'll keep your questions in mind for the next video these are great!! Thanks again Joey!! 🤩🦀
@@Seaqueen_Brooke and no way do we want you to compromise the safety or integrity of the boat and the people who are on it, including you! PS - I would love to see more GoPro from the pot sitting on the bottom showing the crabs and sand dollars and other stuff down there!
@@JoeyBarnes-t7w Forgot to get back to you on this one. I'm actually not fishing this winter season in order to break and work on all the videos I have. I def have some with not great weather, especially in Alaska which I'll be working on and posting in a couple few months. I love the gopros from the pot sitting on the bottom too!! I'll def be showing more of this then in the future. Thanks again Joey! 😁🦀🦀
@thedoggypooper0074 thanks doggy! (your name is funny 😆) Yeah, more fun facts coming up! Our boat has 2 fishholds and one year cap filled it up and came back to port loaded down with 70k pounds! are you talking price for fishermen or price for consumer?
Love this!!! Girls / women can be professional fishermen tooooo🦀🦀🦀
@@AnneTaddei-y8o yeah you got that right!! 💪🦀🦀🦀
Watching from Eastern Oregon, waiting for the crabs to find their way to our local Safeway! 🥰💕🥰
