I used this years ago in my 150 year old house (there was only one kind back then). This stuff is amazing! It is more expensive than other strippers, but safer and *way* less time & labor.
It looks like an awesome product to use and a good company behind the product the only question I have is is it economical compared to poly stripper and other paint strippers how long. Has the company been around
Hey Stiven, Peelaway has been around for 35 years and has been used on some historical buildings in the past. Peelaway is low-odour alternative to conventional caustic paint strippers. Thanks, Jay
Hi Paul, Thank you for your enquiry. The Peelaway products are fantastic but it is always advisable to purchase the Peelaway 1 & Peelaway 7 sample twin pack. Sometimes, for no rhyme or reason, the opposite product works better for your project and sampling can save you a lot of time and money. Please see the link below that has a handy video which will help you with the application and use of the product. www.wood-finishes-direct.com/product/barrettine-peelaway-1-and-7-sample-twin-pack
Hey thank you for your comment, The Neutralising is only so that the product doesn't pickle any coatings that goes on after stripping. You will not need to add the neutraliser again before reapplying. Thanks Jay
Barrettine doesn't have this on their list of approved substrates, but as glass isn't porous it shouldn't affect it so I would try a sample pack and try a test area to be safe.
Hey There, Thanks for getting in contact, typically the life span is a couple of years for new fully sealed product. However, once open it depends on the treatment of the remaining product. Assuming the plastic top sheet is replaced and good housekeeping is used on the tub to prevent contamination, it should live out its natural life. A drop (not a lot) of water in the tub to assist in keeping things moist will do no harm either after opening. Hope this helps! Do I need to wear a particle filter mask and seal the room off I am working in when applying this? I have lead paint on my doorframes which I am trying to remove and I am wondering if you get lead dust when using peelaway ?
Just discovered it, and I'm actually gutted I didn't discover it earlier, I've spent weeks removing paint from my flat's woodwork using a heat gun and sander, and to think I could have used this stuff and done it in a fraction of the time... dang. I've yet to try it, but if the video is anything to go by, this looks a total BREEZE compared to the way I've been doing it!

This is great to know. Really glad it helped with the job!
I find this almost impossible to remove from the stairs as the wood seems to soak it in. Any tips?
Good job he's wearing a Hi-Viz vest.
Yea right just in case some crazy driver doesn't see him INSIDE! a house.
Lol 😂

Will it strip black painted beams?
Hey,
Yes it will! I recommend buying the tester pack to see which one works best for you and the type of paint you have.
Thanks,
Jay
I bought Peel Away 7, but it didn't come with the paper. Is there something else I could use in place of the Peel Away Paper?
Good Morning,
I'm sorry to hear you did not receive the sheets please could you provide your order number with us?
Warmest regards,
Jay
What kind of sheeting do you use to protect the vulnerable surfaces. Will Peel Away 8 not eat thru tape?
Hey Rob a dust sheet would be sufficient.
Jay
Do i add neutraliser before reapplying peelaway 1 to remove remaining paint that did not come off?
Hey thank you for your comment, The Neutralising is only so that the product doesn't pickle any coatings that goes on after stripping. You will not need to add the neutraliser again before reapplying.

@@WoodFinishesDirect Can Vinegar be used? It's a weak acid..
4.16 its essential to lay on enough, otherwise when you pull the cover paper off its just a goey mess left on the surface to clean up
Do you guys mean lay on enough peelaway or enough cover paper?
Will this work well on textured glass panels? We have beautiful antique doors where the textured glass panels were painted over.

Does peelaway products have expiry dates? Can't find any on the tub.

Jay
Can I get this in Australia? I got a flat with painted broke walls that I need to strip off.
Hey,
Funnily enough peel away is an Australian Company.
www.peelaway.com.au/
Hope this helps.
Ben
Is this only for wood? Is it not for limestone brick walls?
have a look at their website sir
It eats limestone plaster from my experience.
Do I need to wear a particle filter mask and seal the room off I am working in when applying this? I have lead paint on my doorframes which I am trying to remove and I am wondering if you get lead dust when using peelaway ?
Hey ED, It is always best to wear protective clothing when doing DIY so a particle mask would be advised.
Thanks,
Jay
Would this get paint off of clothes and sneakers?
Hey Blue Magic,
It likely will but will probably damage the clothes. I would not recommend it.
Thanks
Ben
Man that looks a pain in the arse
ANY method of stripping paint is a pain!
Just discovered it, and I'm actually gutted I didn't discover it earlier, I've spent weeks removing paint from my flat's woodwork using a heat gun and sander, and to think I could have used this stuff and done it in a fraction of the time... dang.
