  • Annnnd it's on the want list. This is a gorgeous evergreen fragrance with a nod to the more classic scents of our past.

    Oh, the chypres ! Earthy and green ? Yes. Musty ? Yes, you're absolutely right. Classy, expensive smelling ? You said it.
    It takes time to get used to the chypres. Yes, some are easy to wear, others are really witchy. I hope you find the one that suits you.

      +Marian Stoica Witchy! hehe I love it. Yes they are difficult to get used to for sure. I have a few more in my arsenal that I'm trying out so, I reckon I can be converted fully. (Not the classic ones though, they are a bit scary).

    I love this one, and have received compliments when wearing it. To me it is in the same range as Portrait of a Lady, but much smoother and more inviting. (POL is a sooooo loud.) The first Agent Provocateur is similar to Eau du Soir, but way more affordable imho. Thanks for your great reviews.

      This one is a veritable forest of a scent, so beautiful! I would like to own it but not sure it would suit me.

    A women came into my work today and I had to ask her what she was wearing. It smelled intoxicating and this was it. Not usually my style at all but I couldn't believe how classy and expensive it smelt! Surprised how much I like it:)

    I'm glad you like my signature parfum. If I may give a tip? get hold of some of the cards used for testing perfumes and spray some of this gorgeous parfum onto the cards and stick in your underwear drawers for some old fashioned glamour!
    BTW I've had women and guys approach me to ask what parfum I'm wearing!! DO buy "Eau De Parfum" as it's much stronger and lasts longer than the 'toilette' which is VERY watered down! current costs around £120 for 100 ml

      It's a lovely one. I got some for a friend for her wedding vow renewal and gosh..I could smell her all over the place. This is such a lovely modern chypre. :)

    The more you talk, the more I want this fragrance. 🎉
    And you answered my question about what "chypre" is. It's all the perfumes in my top third of my organizer. They go with each other, but not with the others. They don't play well with the more modern fragrances. Lol. Definitely oldies.

    I absolutely love your reviews. You're well informed, enthusiastic, and authentic. Made a fan out of me right away.
    Have you tried Sisley's "Soir D'Orient"? WOW!
    The pepper, Turkish rose, incense... It's smoky, mysterious, and seductive.
    I'd love to hear your thoughts!

      @ouch110  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow thanks so much!!! I just try to be as enthusastic on camera as I am alll the time. haha. Sisley...whoa no I haven't. I have reviewed the original Soir and it's amazing. I need to smell this one now.

    Never write off a whole category, that's so true! I too have difficulties coping with chypre in classic style, but Eau du Soir and Soir de Lune are among the exceptions. Walking in the forest with heels, you mean like in Jurassic World ? :P Just kidding, that's a very apt description for this fragrance! :D By the way, I recently tried Chypre Mousse by Oriza L.Legrand. Not a 'grand dame' like the Sisley's, but kind of a whimsical forest, very interesting! :D

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StellaDiverFlynn Oooh THAT'S the one!!!! Oh gosh I was thinking about a perfume I had read about a while ago that sounded truly bizarre and wonderful. THAT'S the one..you've reminded me. Where did you try this perfume? I have never seen it before. It's the one with the mushroom in it right? I like the sound of a whimsical forest! I would love to try that one out and review it. :)

    • @stelladiverflynn3217
      @stelladiverflynn3217 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ouch110 Fragrance Reviews Yes, I believe that's the mushroom one! ^o^ I also get quite some fennel in it. But it smells good! (☆_☆) I bought a sample set from their website, which is of good value. I'm only starting to explore this line, the other one I tried being Horizon, which is a lovely cacao + patchouli. I'm now looking forward to trying the others. :D

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StellaDiverFlynn They are definitely an interesting company, cool designs and fragrances that sound very different. I should look into getting some sampies!! :)

      @ouch110  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +StellaDiverFlynn How strange that I should just the other day be sent a bunch of random samples and there was one from this company in there! It's not the mushroom one but it's one called "Horizon" have you tried it? I haven't yet but will eventually. :)

    Eau du Soir reminds me of Paris and I love it! It smells like a woman , sophisticated but fresh, very classy and like the freshness of early mornings in the spring. I also love Eau de Sisley 3.

      It's so stunning and daring, I personally feel like this fragrance would be challenging for a lot of people BUT! Once you get to know it? (I bought this perfume for my friend for her wedding) and wow, I could smell her everywhere, she smelled like meadow flowers and greenery florist shop.

    Oh what a relief, I like to hear that it's not a vintage smelling chypre. I ordered it as well as Soir de Lune. 😬 I'm scared. I'm brimming with a combination of fear and excitement.

    wonderful review, little buddy! i too find the sissleys to be lacking in the performance department. and not just the women's scents. their only dedicated masculine offering, eau d'ikar, sucks performance-wise: no projection whatsoever, and 2 hours of longevity max. and that's for 100 bucks for 50 mil. hell to the no

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I need to try more of theirs really. See, I got this as a gift for a friend for her wedding and I could smell her very strongly all night when she wore it that day. So...I just don't know. It's a GREAT smell though. :)

    mmmm... I'm going to ask you a stupid qustion mate what is a chypres? I never smelled that before or maybe i did & i didn't know it was chypres... any designer fragrances that carry that note... now i'm curious to know what it smells like mate....

    • @ouch110
      @ouch110  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +John Bernard Ho John how are you? A Chypre, is a particular type of fragrance based on the notes it contains. It's a particular type of fragrance like a ...fougere, or an oriental. There are many but they are typically categorized by a few notes. Oakmoss being the main one, with Labdanum in the mix (which is actually very gorgeous and gives an ambery dark feel to a perfume), and a citrus top note. They are usually very green, and musty (the one's you smell from the 70's and 80's especially). They smell kinda dry and green and like I said...a bit musty. Have you ever smelled Mitsouko by Guerlain? That's a classic example of one. They're not my style but...now lots of companies are bending the Chypre formula and making some gorgeous compositions. Get your nose on one and see what I mean. Smell Mitsouko, also Chanel 19. :)
