PS5 controller used with Astros Playground on the PS5 is amazing. Just a great showcase of the built in mic, haptics and the adaptive triggers. Look forward to your views when you get chance to experience it.
I used to think reviewers were over exaggerating and hyping the dualsense. That all went away when I got in my hands on the 12th of Nov, man! This controller is amazing, it introduces an immersion I never knew existed! Now when I play other systems games, I find something is missing from the immersion. Props to Sony for trying something new! Currently love the dualsense.
Mushy buttons not ideal for action games and fighting games that require quick and precise button presses, average Dpad, average/meh analogue sticks, etc. The shape improved a bit of the controller and there's some neat features, but there's really nothing average. If you want a controller that gives you an edge by being responsive and precise, the PS5's controller is not the one you want.
I was a PlayStation player for PS1 & 2. Then I went 360. For PS4 and Xbox One , I have both. I have always preferred the Xbox controller for their stick placement and feel of the triggers. I am yet to try the PS5 controller as I haven’t got one and plan on being Series X only this gen.
Eh, I'm pretty happy with Sony's D-pads, I hardly ever play anything that uses it as a D-pad, it's more often an action or utility switcher, but when I need it for directions it's fine.
I think they have the best shape and feel, but I do wish they were more tactile. and not like nintendo tactile, because if you slowly rotate your thumb on them, they're not distinct at all compared to dualshocks, even though they're clickier. haven't tried the new xbox dpad, but the best one (for tactileness and distinct rotation) is the vita. so it's weird that sony didn't add it to dualshocks, but keep their shape and feel
I'm eager to try out the PS5 controller having heard all the praise its got. I do love my series x controller though, its really comfortable and the asymmetrical sticks feel better to me.
I personally love the new PS5 controller. To me it is the perfect hybrid between the Xbox One and PS4 controllers. I like the size and feel of the Xbox controller but I prefer the layout of the PS controller.

The triggers and buttons on the PS5 controllers are mushy. The shape and vibrational motors are improved but the actually controller is still not as comfortable as the Xbox controller.
Question. So you have both Xbox and PC? Do you feel there is too much overlap? I'm considering Series X but also want to upgrade my PC. Of course want the PS5 but don't need all 3. What do you think?
Picked up a Series controller when it was on sale for $40 this past weekend and yeah, it's a nice little upgrade over the One controller. The d-pad, although oddly shaped at first, is actually a nice improvement. And the texturing on the grips isn't a game changer, but it's nice. For full price I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a still good Xbox One controller, but at a discount it's nice, or if you need to buy a new controller anyway then getting the new Series controller is a no-brainer. Going to have to pop this open and remove the rumble motors though - I can't stand rumble and I really appreciate how much lighter a controller is without those motors inside (shoutout to the OG Sixaxis, when Sony couldn't include rumble motors because they were being sued, for teaching me the joy of lightweight controllers). I just wish Microsoft would put more effort into making sure the Windows 10 Wireless Adapter is available so it's easy to use them on PCs. I remember going through a bunch of nonsense trying to get one of the originals ones when they first launched, and looking around now, the situation hasn't changed: every store is out of stock or says it'll ship in a few weeks. Thank goodness the new controller works with the old adapter so I don't have to get a new one. As for the PS5 controller, I won't even go near it unless I eventually get a PS5. I'm not spending seventy see-you-next-tuesday-ing dollars on a controller when the only reason it costs so much is because it includes a bunch of gimmicks, and I wouldn't even be able to use those gimmicks on my PC. Not that I honestly want to use them in the first place. I'm interested in trying out the adaptive triggers, but everything else, no thanks. All the PS4 carry-overs: touchpad, light bar, speaker - didn't like them then, don't like them now. HD Rumble? Didn't like it on Switch, not interested in trying again. Mic? I thought I was finally done having to blow at my consoles and controllers as an input when Nintendo didn't include a mic on the Switch, and I'm not thrilled that Sony's brought it back (also I don't trust them to not be constantly recording everything everyone says and selling the data to third parties, like every other company that offers a product with voice commands has been caught doing). Gyro? Go away, I've never had this work well in any controller that's included it, and including it means some game is going to force me to use it even though I don't want to. This is why I really appreciate Xbox's approach to controllers: developers can't make me do stupid crap with the controller because there's no stupid crap in the controller. Also I like removable AA batteries better than a screwed in lithium ion battery. Buy a pack of rechargeable AAs (they're really cheap and really high quality now) and you're golden. I bought a set in 2009 for my Wii and I still use them today. Really glad I got them instead of one of those controller specific rechargeable packs where you'd have to buy a new one when the controller changes.
"Gyro? Go away, I've never had this work well in any controller that's included it, and including it means some game is going to force me to use it even though I don't want to." I assume you never played Splatoon or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild? Personally, I don't want Gyro to go away since Gyro Aiming has proven that it's well capable ( *depending on how developers implements it* ) and can go toe-to-toe with Keyboard/Mouse users. I can confirm that myself since I recently played Halo MCC with Gyro Aiming using Keyboard/Mouse Input (since it doesn't support Simultaneous Controller+Keyboard/Mouse).
You should also note that the new core controller has type-c usb connection, much better overall design. Going to pull the trigger on an xbox core thanks for the review!

I was impressed with the Sony out of the box too. Then I used it. By the time I was an hour into Astro my hands were aching. Some of my fingers were getting sore from sharp points on the controller, and the vibration novelty wore off and it was just annoying. While the triggers are at least in theory interesting, in practice even in Astro I felt it was just in the way...just let me push the button. I felt the triggers were cheap feeling, as if they will break easily. I don't like waiving my controller around either Sony, this isn't a Wii so the Six Axis was pointless again, as is the useless touch pad. The sticks are convex again and slippery, and the triggers themselves haven't really changed from the DS4 so they suck for shooting quickly and the battery keeps dying. It is time for Sony to admit that nobody uses the directional pad anymore and put the darn stick in the natural place where your thumb rests. I hate stretching my thumbs, it is not natural. There is a reason why the directional pad was put there 30 years ago! because that was the most used area, and most natural way the hand relaxes. Now with the Dual Sense being larger, all the problems with the DS4 are worse = more hand cramping. Speakers and mics in the stick are a waste of time, space and add unwanted costs and battery drain...stop it. Plus the Mic is defaulted to on, and the light on the button comes on when the Mic gets turned off?????further depleting the battery. This is not a good controller by Sony yet again and sadly, I'll be forced to get all multiplats on the Xbox yet again for this gen.
is it me or is the space between the left stick and the D-Pad smaller on the XSX controller than it is on the XB1 controller? also on the XSX controller i feel like that same stick got shifted down and to the left a bit compared to the XB1 con. But never the less great video as always Blunty
Adjusting from the playstation controller to the xbox controller for PC gaming is a huge challenge for me especially with the X button. Muscle memory is really hurting me in this transition. The Xbox controller has native support for the PC and you can’t get better than that. Playstation will have to work harder on their next release to get that native support for PC.
my ps5 controller got stick drift and jammed triggers in less than 5 months and my xbox one x controller still works perfectly. The only game on ps5 to use any other functionality is Astro’s playroom.
Glad i found this video. Still rocking my 2016 Xbox wireless pad which i was about to substitute with a PS5 pad while in hopes hopes that someday PC games will support the Dualsense function. Guess i'll be buying a new Xbox Controller. Quesion is: is it worth it? My old pad is still working perfectly fine.
I don't actually like the feel of the Dualsense at all, so far and even prefer the feel of the DS4. I'll order a new Xbox controller since my last Xbox controllers are 360s and see if I'll prefer it. Thanks for this!
Really impressed with the DualSense so far, the adaptive triggers are awesome. Never been a fan of the XB1 controller, just doesn't seem comfortable for my hands.
PlayStation D-pad is so much better than Xbox. You can actually use it for movement in 2D games rather than only being restricted to occasional menus like the Xbox. Xbox controllers are generally more comfortable though.
Far as I can tell, the XBox One controller thumbstick rubbers wear out inevitably for everyone. I have two of them myself, and I've completely worn down the sharp lip along the edge of the concave section on both of them, and one of them I've almost worn completely through the diamond grip on a corner.
no, never, have had sticks from original Xbox one and X, never had one wear. The PS4 sticks took a month. The stick with my Pro was better but I couldn't stand it so I never used it
After playing both, I can’t go back to playing on an Xbox controller. The PS5 controller feels like a generational leap with its enhanced rumble and triggers. I’ll be getting multiplats on PS5 from now on. Games like Dirt 5 feel so much better on PS5 compared to the Series X version.
I completely tore off the rubber on my PS4 controllers thumbsticks, just from wear and tear. Stopped playing as much. lol That's ok I'm going to switch to VR completely I think soon. Then maybe my oculus touch controllers will fall apart too.
playstation D-pad is 1000% better for fighting games i dont understand.....xbox D-pad not nice for fighting games... sony controller is more universal as for xbox mainly for shooters
Disagree hard about the d-pad. PlayStation split d-pads have always been good for games where the d-pad is nothing more than a 4 way quick select, but suck for anything else because you can't roll your thumb across them easily. The Xbox Series d-pad, between the shape and the responsiveness, will probably one of the best d-pads for fighting games ever.
I’ve never heard anybody praise the Xbox’s d-pad in my life. I remember playing Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit and Mortal Kombat on the 360’s controller and the d-pad was literal trash, despite the overall controller being great. Xbox’s d-pad is better now, but the new dish design still doesn’t look like a better alternative to the DualSense’s separated directional buttons that has been on every DualShock.
Yeah, it just sucks that they're missing the analogue triggers. I also feel like the d-pad is a downgrade over the usual Nintendo quality, none have quite been as good as the Wii's since then, but the newer models of the Switch d-pad are definitely an improvement over the one I got at launch. So they just need the triggers like the gamecube had
The Xbox controller has never been a good controllers. The fact that MS keep making controllers that take batteries tells me they are morons. The PS5 controller is all the rave and an improvement of the PS4 controller substantially. And the PS4 controller was a good controller. Other than that....good video ole' chap.
having variety on how you charge the controller makes sense. Let me know how long your ps4 controller lasts on a single charge 7 years later. And the Xbox One controller was way better than the ps4 controller. While the ps5 controller is better in terms of spec. It's up to devs to utilize the new features.
Funny becasue most consider it to be the best controller, even the switch and ps5 copied it. You can buy rechargeable batteries like the ps has but I prefer just using cheap eneloop rechargeable batteries, they last me a full week and take a few seconds to swap out, no need for cords or any of that crap.
Having a choice of battery pack or AA's that last 30 hrs or more is bad? Can even use rechargeable AA's and a charger with 4 AA's cost 15 bucks? While I do wish a plug and play kit was included in the controller with the system, I hate my built in batteries on all my Playstation systems. You realize the built in battery situation is so they lock you into buying another stick right? and a charging dock? good luck finding batteries for your PS3,4,5 in a few years time because they'll all be dead and hard to get. My PS3's won't work unless I plug them in, and it's not worth my time to tear em down and replace them. But hey, if you are too lazy to swap a couple of rechargeable AA's.....well we can't fix that. I never got through Astro before my PS5 stick died. I'll never understand Sony Pony's and their love of a built in battery. Oh, and while I've already had to change out my PS4 stick battery....the Ps5 stick a little more work to do. Not much more, but would it have been so hard for Sony to make a easily swappable battery pack when their controllers have the WORSE battery life of any controller of any console EVER MADE? Oh right, they want you to buy another stick and alternate them....Go home Mr. Ninja
yep, a vr pc and a switch is still the way to go. i do hope the adaptive triggers (and gyro? if it even has it??) are supported by steam and devs though (despite sony's terrible d-pad and stick layout).
Even if you do that, this is still a good video because there are a lot of games on PC you're going to want a controller for. And all of these work on PC (although Xbox seems to have a major problem keeping the wireless adapter for their controllers available, so good luck to anyone looking for one).
SWITCH PRO is the answer to that question. even if sony's pads do end up having usable gyro (?) you're still stuck with that abysmal d-pad and stick layout. at least that bra design will distract from looking at the ugliest console in history. great video.

The spacing is identical, as are the sticks. Probably just LOOKS closer because of the 'disk' vs 'cross'
I actually find PS dpad way better than Xbox, but I guess it’s just preference
The part that wears out on your controllers (the analog stick skin) completely came off of one of my controllers
Ive been rocking an elite 2, I'm waiting to get the series x one in my hands to compare
My old pad is still working perfectly fine.
nicely compared. thanks
I keep accidently pushing the share button its so annoying
Will the series X D pad be realistically heard over a game? Without headphones obviously.
Not to my experience no
@@S00FU is it too small for you, I want to get the series x but am worried the controller is uncomfortable and a downgrade from the one controller
Nice plants.
Then u looked like someone who played with tiny controllers for 4 generations 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@remyroland8016 🤣
PlayStation D-pad is so much better than Xbox. You can actually use it for movement in 2D games rather than only being restricted to occasional menus like the Xbox. Xbox controllers are generally more comfortable though.
Do you think the new Xbox controller will allow audio pass through on PC?
With the Xbox Wireless Adapter, you can. This works with the current Xbox One controller as well.
Idk but the colour of the light bar makes me wanna switch to playstation 😂
The Series X controller is the best one
Far as I can tell, the XBox One controller thumbstick rubbers wear out inevitably for everyone. I have two of them myself, and I've completely worn down the sharp lip along the edge of the concave section on both of them, and one of them I've almost worn completely through the diamond grip on a corner.
no, never, have had sticks from original Xbox one and X, never had one wear. The PS4 sticks took a month. The stick with my Pro was better but I couldn't stand it so I never used it
The series controllers are much better than the one generation controllers.
As long as the bumpers don't break like the elite controllers I'll be happy
the usb port breaks too. then they want money to fix it. shite design, with no gyro either.
The PlayStation 5 controllers are big feel awful on my small skinny hands. Xbox is perfect for my hands. So disappointed really wanted the ps5
Series X is a baby elite controller. If you have the cash consider the elite 2. Ultimate controller, but pricey for certain
Dualsense is my new favorite
I completely tore off the rubber on my PS4 controllers thumbsticks, just from wear and tear. Stopped playing as much. lol That's ok I'm going to switch to VR completely I think soon. Then maybe my oculus touch controllers will fall apart too.
That’s an interesting change. Why only vr?
Ordered my blue series x controller
playstation D-pad is 1000% better for fighting games i dont understand.....xbox D-pad not nice for fighting games... sony controller is more universal as for xbox mainly for shooters
@@mjc0961 agreed
for me its the switch pro controller, really comfy
Ninja
Bro stop living behind your stone. Majority prefers the XBOX controllers anyday than PS controllers
Who cares about these next-gen consoles? Just get a good working PC and you're set.
yep, a vr pc and a switch is still the way to go. i do hope the adaptive triggers (and gyro? if it even has it??) are supported by steam and devs though (despite sony's terrible d-pad and stick layout).
Even if you do that, this is still a good video because there are a lot of games on PC you're going to want a controller for. And all of these work on PC (although Xbox seems to have a major problem keeping the wireless adapter for their controllers available, so good luck to anyone looking for one).
sadly, there are some games are console's exclusive. So...
What does this have to do with the controllers
People who like good single player exclusives. You always miss out sticking to one platfrom.
SWITCH PRO is the answer to that question. even if sony's pads do end up having usable gyro (?) you're still stuck with that abysmal d-pad and stick layout. at least that bra design will distract from looking at the ugliest console in history. great video.
the switch pro controller has a terrible d-pad
